Is there anything more kino than water reflections in 2D/sprite games? I think it's up for debate.

>>11254502You know, I bought it and I really do appreciate what it was going for in a way, but it was never gonna be able to replicate the charm. There's something about the PS1-era font, pre-rendered backgrounds... the aesthetic is a fundamental part of the experience and it is, indeed, soulless without it. Hell, even with Second Evolution the awful art direction of the new portraits, anime cutscenes, etc. is kinda jarring compared to the OG stuff. In any event, all it did was make me want to get back around to this eventually and here I am.
>>11256914Yep, it's not an abomination tier like some demakes.but clearly lacks the soul of the OG. I also think all the power creep kind of ruins the challenge on universe mode (just the 3 hit combo alone added to the demakes is too much). I actually made a thread on the star ocean sub reddit saying ps1 is still the definitive and literally no one agreed with me, shows you what kind of fags lurk there.
