Did you manage to get one?
>>
did they re release it or something?
>>
>>11323319
I was never able to get one. I remember getting up early in the morning to get one. I went to the GameStop and there was one guy there waiting for the store to open. I decided to go get breakfast. That was a mistake. I went back 30 min later and there was now a line of 7 people. The GameStop (like many) only had like 4 of them. Fucking Nintendo.

That was the closest I ever got. I kept checking other places, got Telegram just to be alerted of new stock, went to that SKU website originally set up for lego bricks or whatever. Never got one.
>>
>>11323319
easily, I got many actually
>>
I got one at Best Buy. I like the look of it more than anything, a perfect reproduction at 50% (maybe 60%) scale. It's more of a decoration. I'll just emulate on Miyoo Minis or steam deck if I need to play NES games.
>>
I regret not getting one of these, just for the controllers. I got the NSO Genesis 3-button controller, and I love it. It just feels so right. But I prefer having wired usb controllers
>>
yeah I have one
it's pretty cool but i also have a real NES with a flashcart and also the NSO service is more or less the same thing but better
still a neat little product from a period without a lot going on, and the price was right

>>11323591
this is also great
>>
>>11323319
I thought of getting one just for the controller, which fit the wiimotes too from memory but I felt better keeping the $
>>
>>11323632
don't know if you still can, but I was able to buy the Snes controllers by calling up Nintendo and telling them my dog chewed one of my controllers and I need to another one. was only $10 + $5 shipping.

fuck I should do that again. I got a bunch of usb snes controllers and the NSO one, but the snes classic one is by far my favorite
>>
>>11323319
I got 3 of them. Gave one to my sister, opened one and played on it, the other one was intended as a gift but I never gave it to anybody. Also got a few of the SNES minis, Genesis minis, and one PlayStation mini when they were blowing them out at $25. I should probably just get rid of them at this point because I just use my original hardware instead all the time. They are great for traveling with but I usually just pack in my GBA or 3DS because it's easier, but the SNES is great if you have a few friends.
>>
>>11323319
yeah, also the SNES one. Since I got the OG consoles, I don't use them much, but when I'm visiting friends and we're in a mood for retro gaming, these come in very handy. They're the next best thing outside of emulators or flashcards, which isn't much, but they were just 80 bucks or so and came with original controllers.

>>11323319
couldn't find one of those so i imported the famicom instead. the most interesting part to me was that it uses the disc system version of a few games, so its cool to hear the ost changes. zelda 2 in particular stood out to me, with the game even playing quite differently.
>>
I didn't see a point since I could emulate on my 3ds
>>
I bought a Famicom mini like that anon>>11323705 but it's not really expensive now as far as I know
>>
I got the SNES one, never really cared that much about the NES since I grew up with the SNES. I still have it, too, and I bought two adapters to use the new controllers on my old SNES, so it was doubly useful both for the games I could never get as PAL versions (like FF and Mario RPG) and for two brand new controllers.
>>
>>11323345
you showed your true colors by being unwilling to starve for vidya
>>
>>11323319
A SNES Classic too. We got the NES one for my mom but in the end she played it once and then went back to watching NCIS, Castle and Big Brother.
>>
>>11323319
NES, SNES, and Genesis, all modded with Hakchi for more games and better emulators under the hold. They're fun to tinker with, and I prefer playing these old games on a proper TV as opposed to my laptop.
>>
>>11323319
I got one when it first came out but all it did was make me want the real thing, so I ended up getting an RGB modded NES and Everdrive
>>
>>11323591
Seems a bit odd that it didn't come with the six-button controllers

Only a SNES Classic I got in Japan with a little carrying case. I don't have much love for the NES or its' games, but I'd get one of the controllers if they were cheaper.
>>
>>11324221
The JP one did
>>
>>11323632
>>11323648
It does indeed have a wiimote connector and you could also buy an adapter from radnet to use it on a real SNES
the adapter was kind of pricey but it was still a way to get brand new OEM SNES controllers in like 2018 or whenever it was
>>
>>11324504
i meant raphnet woops
>>
Holding out hope for a Saturn mini one day.
>>
>>11324221
I like it better this way. the mini's 3button has an updated dpad design and has that nostalgic feel. the 6button was just a prototype saturn controller. of which there are plenty of clones of.
>>
>>11323668
I have a psclassic that I cracked. Best emulation machine I've had so far. Does everything up to Dreamcast except for Saturn (no games anyway lol) in a nice low profile package.
>>
>>11324504
>Raphnet
I got the 8bitdo one and it works like a charm, dunno if the raphnet is better but the 8bitdo one is somewhat cheap considering it also works with GC controllers
>>
>>11323319
I got one as a Christmas gift. I didn't especially want one but with how difficult they were to get I really do appreciate that someone got it for me.
>>
>>11323319
For awhile Nintendo had them on their website as refurbished units, after the hype died. I never got one tho.
>>
I have the SNES one and hacked it. It's cool. Got it for $20 at a yard sale
>>
>>11323319
What's the point, it's just an emulator right? Not even a great emulator.
>>
>>11323345
I went to gamestop on a random day at lunch to see if they had one and they did.
>>
>>11325801
Based. I got mine from a desperate scalper who couldn't sell all his SNES minis, so it sold me one for half the retail price
>>
>>11323319
I never got it or the SNES Classic because of just how bad the scalping was at the time. I have the original consoles of course, but I really wanted to play these mini consoles too since they were made by Nintendo themselves rather than what you usually saw with other plug 'n play things.
The moment has passed though, I think the only thing I'm really missing out on from these is the menu music, but that's on youtube.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzqalctxky8
>>
>>11323319
Yep. Shit was great hacked.
Even after becoming a MiSTer person, I still use the controller from these on that
>>
snes classic and nes classic still new in box

playstation classic when walmart was liquidating them for 20 bucks that's got a usb drive connected to mess around with
>>
>>11325750
me too, but somehow the softmod does not work. It craps itself in the process somehow. So it sits in a drawer like a bitch.
Maybe I'll have the motivation to take care of that problem properly someday.
Btw, have the Mega Drive minis been craked by now?
>>
It's just an ARM board with a not great software emulator.

You're much better off with a Pi, which also offers analog video output and allows you to connect original controllers to it through GPIO.
>>
>>11326358
Yeah I'm pretty sure KMFDManic has the go to core setup for the Sega minis. You can also try his autobleem setup for psclassic, though I prefer project eris for its aesthetics
>>
>>11326381
Not sure about the others, but the PS Classic far outclasses my raspi 3b+ in terms of performance, especially when applying shaders
>>
>>11323319
Yeah, target happened to have one when I walked in one day. I think it was 60 bucks or something, maybe 80.

I played it about 5 times and never touched it again and now I have no idea where it is.

I bought it with the intention of there being soft mods for it that could outdo a raspberry pi back then but it never really came to fruition. I mean you can mod it but it’s not that great or worthwhile to do.
>>
>>11326593
>Numbnuts gives opinion
>Admits he never modded his console
>opinion discarded
Do you realize how dumb you are?
>>
they're cool but especially with the genesis (idk about the nes) they have emulation issues. I'd rather find a way to 3d print a case or something and do my own emulation since there's cycle accurate options for both of these consoles.
>>
>>11323319
I got lucky. The SNES was better designed but this is better aesthetically.
>>11326664 #
Until you add USB support that's not a problem if cycle accuracy isn't critical because it is easy to fill the internal memory with Nintendo stuff. Also Genesis mini...

>>
>>11323319
Yes. I got one, got the extension cords and another controller. I hacked it and loaded it with every NES game I want to play.
>>
>>11323319
Yes and all the other minis. I've used the Genesis 2 mini the most and then the TG-16 mini. I've used the SNK mini the least.
>>
>>11323319
My mom got me one for Christmas. It was an awesome gift. When I was a kid in 2004 and played SSB Melee, I always fantasized about the retro games of the characters I knew nothing about. It was finally my chance to catch up. I also waited with my mom at a Toys R Us to get the SNES Classic when it came out. Good times.
>>
Redpill me on mini consolew
>>
Why are there 2 genesis mini and no master system mini did sega fuck it up again?
>>
>>11330758
Relatively cheap, work directly on a big TV with HDMI, authentic-feeling controllers, easily hackable with no way to add anti-piracy on them since they don't connect to the TV.
Add to that save states and the rewind features and you have a wonderful, lightweight little machine you can take to like, the superbowl party or thanksgiving or whatever and get people to play together some random game you found or a childhood favorite.
>>
>>11323705
It always amuses me how Nintendo likes to constantly remind the Japanese public (and even us some times) that the Famicom Disk System was a real thing that happened and should be fondly remembered despite selling basically no units, having load times and disk switching, and all of them being so cheaply made that barely any survived through the 90's.
>>
>>11330937
>despite selling basically no units
Why would a baby lie like this?
>The Disk System's lifetime sales reached 4.4 million units by 1990, making it the most successful console add-on of all time, despite not being sold outside of Japan.
lol. One of the reasons it sold so well is because it was the original copier. Based disk based predecessors of the flash carts you babies use.

>Most restaurants do not allow you to eat anywhere near open food used for customers for good reason

Kek. Keep believing the kitchen staff isn't getting shit-faced and eating all over your food with the dirty pair of nitrile gloves they've been wearing all day and that the sanitation bucket has been properly maintained. Oh yeah, the people they're hiring to run the kitchen are super hygenic and diligent people. What a joke.

>>
I regret never getting a pc engine or turbograx 16 mini before they got really expensive, but I got one of the controllers at least
>>
>>11332816
I bought a real PC Engine Core Grafx and an everdrive pro. I've heard the PC Engine Mini had an issue with their USB ports causing a short and breaking the system and was never really fixes.

The only one that made fuckton money with those mini and classic consoles where M2 niggers. These motherfuckers, as far as I know, where the ones that developed those emulators and UX/UI for almost all of them: Sega Genesis MK I & MK II, NES, SNES, Turbografx, that Sega arcade astro city. The only one that M2 wasn't involve was fucking PSX classic and that mini console was fucking garbage.
I don't know why Nintendo, Sega or even Microsoft, release a 'classic' console but with a Virtual Console 'philosophy'; a little cute looking piece of plastic and silicon that resembles the real thing but with ethernet/wifi with some games included and the possibility to buy new games and play online.

>>
>>11323319
Why? It's an overpriced emulation box that only runs a single console, I guess it's good for fans thanks to the novely, but I prefer to just make proper emulation boxes with stuff like a mini PC, that emulates other consoles, and can do way more.
>>
>>11323319
I can swear this thing smells just like the original did.
>>
>>11334375
>'a pi'
Yeah the Nintendo ones aren't powerful and lack LAN but modding is much quicker and more idiot proof than setting up a pi. Also they boot faster and have a better interface imo.

>>11342335
>only runs a single console
They easily run whatever 16 bit or lower console you want as long as you have <60 iq needed to mod it.
>proper emulation box
Oxymoron. But I know what you mean if you want to emulate 32 bit + on the same box.
>>
>>11344036
>much quicker and more idiot proof than setting up a pi
How much of an idiot are you?
>>
I never got into the mini consoles, although the Astro City mini and Neo-Geo mini are still tempting. They make nice shelf pieces even if I don’t play them much.

I do love the flood of controllers for these for use on my Pi and Steam Deck though. Got an official 6-button Genesis pad and a Neo Geo CD pad with the micro switch joystick. Went 8bitdo for a SNES pad, but still want one of the Wii port ones from the SNES classic or an NSO one at some point. I’m autisticly specific about using a mostly accurate controller when I can.

I'm surprised that basically no one wants them now. They came out almost eight years ago at this point and in very limited quantities so you'd think they'd be worth a lot now, but looks like all the scalpers on eBay ended up having to sell them at MSRP (actually lower than MSRP if you account for all the inflation we've had in the years since). I guess most people who want to play boomershit without getting OG hardware are either cool with paypigging for NSO or emulate through other means.

I was going to compare the NES Classic's price with that one Zelda "Game & Watch" that came out a few years ago, but the latter can still be had for under $50 despite being a collector's item, so I guess people aren't buying emulation boxes in general now?
>>
>>11323319
bought both it and the SNES Classic summer of '18 with some of the money I got from my first job

>>11323591
have one of these as well but not as big a fan of it as I could never get it hacked like I was with the two Nintendo mini consoles
>>
>>11346250
We're in a post-Switch world now, nearly all of those games are on the NSO service (and emulate better) and you can play them on the fucking Switch instead of a little pi clone that needs a TV

For certain games, like Metroid, Icarus, or Zelda 2, they don't have a non-disk version.

Because Nintendo found out that they can charge people a monthly subscription fee to rent a handful of their retro games instead.
