Which one is better?
I think 1 is better in every aspect imaginable. It's one of my favorite games ever
I only ever played them on the GC so I have to go with 2
>>11355995>GC SADamn I'm so sorry anon
>>11355981I couldn't stand 1 but 2 was shockingly fun and held up much better
>>11355981Sonic Adventure 1
The REAL question is: does it matter?
>>11356138AI slop should be banned
>>11356094Is the Dreamcast the only viable versions for this game?I was kinda tempted to get the 360 version of Adventure 2 since it’s so cheap. At least the PC version of 1 can be modded to look like the Dreamcast version I’ve heard.
Depends, you want hub worlds? You want to just play the game? Are you some homo who likes the Chao Garden?
>>113559811, because its more focused and has generally better level design. The Knuckles levels in 2 are so fucking boring compared to the first game.
>>11355981SA1, though both are mostly bad.
These games are fucking horrible and I'm tired of people pretending they're not.
>>11356173>360 version of Adventure 2ass. just get the pc version and install a bunch of fixes off gamebanana and the chubby rouge mod
>>11355981SA1 allows you to just stick to playing Sonic if you want. You don't have to bother with any of the other characters unless you're a completionist faggot.SA2 forces you into alternate gameplay styles that you may or may not enjoy.
>>11356374>completionist faggot.Wtf
>>11356379As far as the story is concerned, Chaos is destroyed on the Egg Carrier. Defeat Egg Viper, credits roll. You literally do not need to bother with the rest of the cast if you don't want to.
>>11356389I don't know, even as a kid who literally never 100%'d his games I still felt like you HAD to go through all the scenarios
>>11356138>does it matter?IT DOESN'T MATTER NOW WHAT HAPPENSI WILL NEVER GIVE UP THE FIGHTLONG AS THE VOICE INSIDE DRIVES ME TO RUN AND FIGHTIT DOESN'T MATTER WHO IS WRONG OR WHO IS RIGHT
>>11356393You really don't. Every character's scenario is wrapped up neatly by the end of their story and are fairly self-contained. There's a reason they roll the (unskippable without mods) credits after every story. If you don't like one particular character, or their playstyle, you're never forced to play as them. The only lingering story bits are the Tikal flashbacks, which are ultimately insignificant prior to the Last Story. The Last Story is a bonus. Again, not mandatory unless you're trying to 100% the game, which you wouldn't be doing if you hated playing as any of the characters anyway unless you hate yourself enough to keep playing a game you don't enjoy just so you can say you "beat" a game. Most casuals will be content with finishing as Sonic, maybe Tails and Knuckles, and call it a day.Meanwhile, in SA2, if you hated the treasure hunting stages in SA1, tough shit. You have to put up with them if you want to even make progress (and they're arguably worse than the SA1 ones too). Didn't like SA1 Gamma? Cope. Here's 1/3rd of the game in his gameplay style. SA2 doesn't respect player preferences as much as its predecessor does and just expects them to deal with it. This philosophy would be carried into Sonic 06, and is precisely what started the "lol sonic's shitty friends" meme that has been a black stain on the franchise until somewhat recently.
>>11355981I like Hub Worlds so 1.
>>11356424I didn't really like most of the speed levels in SA2 though shadows especially
>>11356173The gamecube version is only bad because it activates autism that it looks different. If anything it creates some replayability between the two versions. But either way someone going in blind is going to like the game exactly the same
>>113559812 is better by a long shot. The hunting and shooting stages are refined and way better, the ranking system is a great addition, the added missions add so much extra replayability.
Sonic Adventure 1 is the one I prefer now, but as a kid I liked 2 better. 2's chao garden and over the top story will always make it special, but Sonic's stages in SA1 are the best 3D Sonic stages to date. Going from Emerald Coast, to Windy Valley, to Casinopolis (doing the clip that skips all the slot machines ofc), to Ice Cap to my favorite stages... Twinkle Park into Speed Highway into Red fuckin Mountain. Sky Dick is a little shitty, but Lost World and Final Egg round it out pretty well.
>>11356917ThisSA1 sucks Disney dicks. SA2 might’ve been “edge-lord” but it still marks the line between innocent faggoty little kids and cool tough teens.
>>11357310>innocent faggoty little kids>cool tough teensDude are you like 17 or something lol
>>11355981I prefer 1 (Dreamcast) because:1. Sonic's spindash is incredibly fun to mess around with, launching yourself off ramps and especially when you realize you can roll up vertical surfaces like the tall rock structure in Emerald Coast and the skyscrapers in Speed highway. being able to speed dash while running with no pause adds a slight sense of strategy to movement, and honestly I prefer it to even the boost formula of later Sonic games, which it evolved to replace the boost method.2. The ability to choose which characters you want to play as and when you want to play as them, as well as six DIFFERENT playstyles. Adventure 2 is extremely repetitive in this manner. 3. I find the gem hunting levels in SA2 to be a huge drag, specifically the Pyramid level, Aquatic Mine, and Rouge's thief mission. SA1 is much more fun, love the way you can tilt the ship in Sky Deck.4. Hub worlds. I feel like I've lived a lifetime in Station Square, Mystic Ruins, and even Eggman's Carrier. No other Sonic game has had just a cohesive sense of a world before or since. Such a shame Frontiers open-world gameplay was so blah and sterile.5. I honestly don't mind Amy's levels whatsoever, they just feel like a kind of super stripped down Zelda-inspired game. They could have totally expanded on that and had more Amy levels with puzzle-based exploration. The mystic mirrors in Twilight Park will always be burned into my memory. And I love the CRT room in Hot Shelter. Plus her hammer jump was really fun. Her game is rudimentary, but not bad at all by any means like people make it out to be. 6. Like Amy's gameplay, Gamma's is also very rudimentary. The only real part I love replaying is Hot Shelter, that level is awesome as Gamma, with the train section being the highlight. But SA2 I LOATHE the shooting levels. The shooting mechanic is not any more refined from Gamma's simplicity, and yet they make the levels last WAY too long. character limit lol
>>11357362 Don't get me wrong I love SA2, but it has way more slog than SA1 considering both are super clunky.
>>11356913If two things are different, one is better than the other. That being said I think people who played DX still have the "Sonic Adventure experience", but it is objectively slightly uglier than SA1 (and buggier).
SA1 is the last peak sovl Sonic gameSA2 is the death of the franchise and its final transformation into jump the shark gimmick slop
>>11357234>Casinopolisshame about this stage
>>11355981The first one. Second one is a downgrade with a lot of features cut compared to the first game.Basically Sonic Adventure is a standalone subfranchise - and it expands the tendency of adding various characters with the variety of gameplay, even with their own plots.Adventure Field adds the feel, that you are actually in the world, not just running through, but actually are in this world, that even keep changing as you progress. Day-evening-night, various places to explore, NPC plot lines through their dialogues and the newsstand - all of this makes a world, a place you are in. While SA2 is just a level select menu.
>>11355981They're both pretty meh desu. I was amazed the first time I played the downhill city level in walmart back in the day but it was disappointing any time since. They feel like phone games.
