>a game based on a TV commercialFucking stupid. What's next? A movie that combines live action and animation based on a TV commercial?
>>11389716I don't even need to check to see if Home Improvement on SNES is real. How could anyone possibly forget this game after hearing about it? It opens with a dinosaur level of all the themes a Home Improvement licensed game could've gone for, and the manual is just one big spread page that says "Real Men Don't Need Instructions." It's pretty legendary in the realm of shit games.
>>11389732>forgetI assume OP is saying that the game's mere existence is so bizarre, that it's in the realm of "I need to pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming"
>>11389716Im a huge fan if Kingdom Hearts and sometimes I stop and realized how nuts it is that it got made in the first place.
>>11389748I know I'm in the minority, but I prefer the sequel.
>>11389790The 3d sections are amazing. Also I didn't think the game would end with niles fighting an 80 foot Daphne akiri monster but at least the story sets it up well
You don't get to come back every generation and sell the same game again.
>>11389987the perfect spite gift
>>11389716>OP is shocked a popular sitcom got a quick cheap video game platformer adaptation in a time where literally fucking everything got a quick cheap platformer adaptationYou must be 18 to post here.
We have Kim Possible at home> a friend is keking at the game's name and saying he wants it into his coomlection> checking out the game> it's crap> check further> it's based on some ancient Flash web cartoon series> it's crap AND weird as fuck> it's a fuckin' franchise with DC comics n' shit> never heard of it once before the gamePretty bizarre experience, to say at least. I don't want to explore that princess Natasha hole anymore.
>>11389987>>11390026>dropped the James Pond 2 name as to not confuse people since it's a sequel but they won't be releasing the originalSensible but sinister

>>11390461There was a Cheers game? What console?
>>11390426I think gaming as a whole was a lot healthier when we had games based on random licenses or could choose from more experimental styles. The whole landscape just felt more alive
>>11390461>Addams FamilyThe Ocean made game and the sequel Addams Family value were movie licensed games, though. They weren't directly based on the OG sitcom. Also Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt was based on the 1990's Hanna-Barbera Saturday morning cartoon series.
>>11389716Tim Allen is a dork
Gilligan's Island for the NES was based on the sitcom series.

>>11390539> 80s video game based on 60s American tv show> by BandaiThat's as surreal as it gets. In alternative reality, we've got I Love Lucy video game instead.
>>11390463>>11390461To be fair, most everything you mentioned is either from an entirely different era than Home Improvement/notretro, based on a cartoon, or a videogame in the loosest sense of the word, like Friends. What's this Cheers game, though?
>>11389716There's nothing really surprising in Garfield video games existing but this one gives hella bootlegish vibes, despite being licensed> released only in Japan> features some obscure one-off rival character on box art> Jon is talking in weird broken sentences> Garfield can walk on all fours> the whole game looks like someone's first attempt at Game Maker
>>11390574Forgot pic
>>11390376so you can put it on the shelf next to your cuck chair
>>11390574>>11390579AWOG absolutely seems like something that was intended for a US release, but was too dogshit to bother. Or maybe Jim Davis would only approve it being released in Japan.
>>11390574>but this one gives hella bootlegish vibes, despite being licensedThere's also Garfield caught in the act that was made by Sega for the Genesis/ MD and GameGear.
Knight Rider for the NES was based on the original Hasselhoff TV series from the early 80's.
>>11390376It's for the autists on thecoverproject.org
>>11390604>.org.net Oops.
>>11390594Caught in the Act makes more sense. Garfield loves tv and had some bizarre shit happening to him in tv series, so it's not like it's completely random. It's just that final boss that looks off, maybe that was intended to be some other game before they've put Garfield coating on it.
>>11390562>>>11390539 (You)>> 80s video game based on 60s American tv show>> by Bandai>That's as surreal as it gets. In alternative reality, we've got I Love Lucy video game instead. The only other one I can think of is Star Trek 25th Anniversary for the NES, which is technically based on the original 1960's TV series... but it was also part of a 25th Anniversary of Star Trek marketing thing going on at the time. So not as cut and paste as Gilligans Island.
I've always felt the drawn cover is lame compared to what it could be on this.
>>11390027Sup Carl
>>11390541Festers Quest is technically based on the 1960's TV series, as it was released in 1989 ; two years before the 1991 film.
>>11390641Could be worse; they could have based it off the really bland version of the movie poster.
>>11390662> the red square is enemy communist> the blue rectangle is your Bentley car> only for Atari 2600
>>11390473How long is it gonna take for a Jake Paul hack of this to actually appear?
>>11390562It's not that out of the ordinary. Picrel is based on the 60s Mission Impossible TV series, the game itself is more experimental than the idea of grabbing that license, though I guess that was a relatively influential show. Another is Koei's Combat based on "Combat!", also from the 60s.You have to understand that the people making games generally did grow up with 60s and 70s stuff.
Many of these old 60s shows ran on tv during the 80s-90s in my euroland
>>11390830They did in the US, too. We had lots of reruns and even entire cable channels like TV Land dedicated to shows from the 50s, 60s, and 70s.

>>11389729Those burger king games like sneak king. >>11390376I really dont like these, they always exist mixed in the bargain bin like a mouse trap for unsuspecting grandparents.

>>11389716For me it's seeing a Full House game, and it's a street fighter 2 clone. Bizarre that someone thought "hmm, it's a sitcom let's have them beat the hell out of each other". Wish I had one for Family Matters so you could beat on Urkell.>>11390873That unlocked some old memories, I used to watch that with my grandparents and the only thing I remember was how every show was either MASH or Little House On The Prairie. Nothing else would be on except those 2.
>>11390587The game is copyrighted to United Features Syndicate, which owned Garfield for a good 20 years before PAWS could buy out the contract and get full control over the franchise. Odds are it was made behind Jim's back for a quick buck and he never even knew it was a thing.
>>11391448>>11389790>>11389748Just shut the fuck up.
>>113906203 Stooges were a thing from the 1920s-1960s, but they had an arcade in the 80s, which got ported to the NES. Then for some bizarre reason, it randomly got ported to the GBA in the 00s.And when I googling this image, I discovered the Limited Run Games re-released the GBA version a couple years ago. This game does not want to die.
>>11391472NUDE for xbox please.
>>11391564Standard or Limited Edition? Also, hope you know Japanese.
>>11391569>Standard or Limited Edition?I will pay extra for the undoubteldy superior limited edition because I'm a patrician who is interested in obtaining the finest things and by being rarer it makes it more valuable.>Also, hope you know Japanese. If I can get through the title screen and menus I somehow have a feeling I'll get the intended experience.
>>11391540What the actual fuck.Did anyone in 00s actually knew who these guys are? I mean, your parents and grandfather did but who the hell was going to play GBA release
>>11391458That's actually a good pick for a license. Lassie deserves more recognition. But I suspect the game is shit
>>11391601>Did anyone in 00s actually knew who these guys are?Yes, literally everyone knew who they were then. Gen Z is actually very unique in just how ignorant they are of things from before they were born, thanks to growing up in an age where the internet killed the monoculture and kept shitting out so much new media in every industry that no one had time to pay attention to anything older than a couple years. Not even blaming them, it's just the world they inherited.
>>11391601I was seeing commercials for VHS sets of their shorts and occasionally found an old rerun block.
>>11391673I'm guessing this is a show or something?
>>11390476Did you think I just fell out of a coconut tree or something? Let me guess you think this one isn't real either?
>>11390530That game is incredibly based and one of my favorites. Underrated Metroidvania with so many hidden rooms and secrets. It's pretty tough for a plat-former too, but simple.
>>11392065Apparently he's a character a Spanish comedian plays that's supposed to be a parody of people from Bakalas.
>>11391509Bamboozled
>>11391590>If I can get through the title screen and menus I somehow have a feeling I'll get the intended experience.Let me put it this way, see that headset on the top right in that picture of the limited edition? I guess it would be more accurate for me to have asked if you can SPEAK Japanese.
Took a screenshot so the haters know it's real
>>11389987The last all original JP game was a 2011 phone game called "The Deathly Shallows".

>>11392071>>>11390530 (You)>That game is incredibly based and one of my favorites. Underrated Metroidvania with so many hidden rooms and secrets. It's pretty tough for a plat-former too, but simple.Honestly, I think it is one of Oceans better licensed movie games, in general. The SNES game is the only version really worth playing, IMO. I never put much time into Addams Family Values or Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt. The first movie licensed game and Street Fighter: The Movie: The game are the only two games that I can think of where Raul Julia appears as a playable character.
>>11392069The 8 bit intro song was on point.
A Reboot of Biker Mice from Mars. It's crap.
>>11390530Festers Quest
>>11392182Pugsley's is just brutal. The control is just super fast, and the game is designed to be hard in a brutal way. I never made it far. Sucked all the fun out of the first game, and was more linear.Values is one of the few Zelda type clones on the system, but it's mazy as fuck and pretty unforgiving and uses passwords. I made it a few hours in and it requires you to make maps with graph paper. I heard from those that beat it, it's one of the most maddeningly hard games on the system.
>>11390574>>11390579Was Garfield even popular in Japan? Why would they care about this property in particular? Even the dev team didn't give a shit considering how awful this was.
>>11390347>ran for two seasons>only 3 episodes off season 1 existtruly a lost media of all time
>>11390562Gilligan ran in syndication pretty much non stop until the 2000, and they a few revival bits and pieces around the time, I think a few ads for TBS and a hilariously weird Baywatch crossover
>>11390603Too bad they never did any Baywatch games, you think it'd be primed for a shitty PS1 or 3do game, even Hulk Hogan's spinoff show got one.
>>11389716Always enjoyed this one, apparently it's a reskin of a kimagure orange road game
>>11392709heckin ebin bro...so zased.
>>11392747Not even a game, but a weird cross between a dayplanner app and a minigame collection. And there was also a counterpart version with Dr. Evil, because making two versions of games was all the rage after Pokemon hit it big.
>>11390561>eФfI don't get it
>>11392203>it's crapJust like shitter mice from gaybars the show. Street Chad's for life.

>>11393990What were they thinking?
Pretty much the entire library of the 3DO feels like a fever dream
>>11391601Millennials knew who they were through cultural osmosis, since they were parodied a lot in cartoons. I can't imagine many of them were attached enough to seek out a GBA port of their arcade game, though.
>>11390352I love Kuma Uta because you can say "oh you know, that game where you coach a polar bear to sing enka" in casual conversation and confuse everyone.
>>11393373Hints of suicidal ideation describe it best.
>>11392745I made thing based on template.
>>11391601all of this stuff got recycled on basic cable. it was pretty common for kids to watch random shows way before their time. you also had all of the media being made by nostalgic gen x/boomers parodying stuff they watched on tv as kids
>>11393990That looks pretty damn cool for the time, if they also had some form of decent racing in it it would have been worth people's shekkels.
>>11390347>Cover is just the main character placed three times in different outfits What, does this show has not side characters?
>>11392241I really enjoyed scavenger hunt, it feels like a retro version of modern super meat boy/i wanna be the guy type platformers, especially on the hardest settings.
>>11391540Funnily enough, my first contact with this game was the PlayStation versions, which is very faithful to the original Amiga version. The other day I found out that there is a remake for PC/Mac.
>>11389987>>11390026What kind of company keeps rereleasing the same game since the 90s every generation?
>>11395054One that's clearly only existing to launder money and put out the barest minimum of effort just to keep the authorities from catching on to them.
I played the demo as a kid. For a kart racer it surly had a strange vibe to it.
>>11389748>>11389790fucking HATE Frasier
>>11395109nigger
Just one more thing
>>11392745
Keep in mind that something created in the 80s of a 60s tv show would be like someone creating something from the 00s now, which doesn't seem that strange. What's more it would have been impossible to do anything like what you could on a nes with earlier consoles. Mel Gibson's Safari though wtf kek.
