i just started playing EverQuest, the first MMORPG, from 1999 and I am playing on the official servers, run by Daybreak Games. My god, this game is incredible. Like, i have finally found the perfect game.Who else here loves EverQuest?
>>11392878no one has anything to say??
not the first mmo
>>11393275Everyone here is too young to have played or cared about EverQuest, including myself.
>>11393280Meridian 59, Ultima Online, yea.Either way EverQuest is something magical. I am starting it, in 2024. First toon ever.Amazing game>>11393285give it a try, man. It really is something amazing, incredible.
"The first MMO"Busy playing the first FPS, DOOM
>>11393314haha, DOOM MMO?
>>11393371meridian 59 was using the DOOM engine i think but it was not set in space or Mars, that would have been interesting tho
are you playing on a progression server?
>>11393440fuck that. I am on a live server. All 30 expansions, and the 31st releases in late December.
>>11392878>its an "I'm .1% of the way into this game and have a strong opinion on it" thread
>>11392878>official serversTry the actual game, noob
>>11392878My dad would come home angry because I would log onto his ogre while he was at work and would die losing him levels.
>>11394582Your dad sounds cool. I hope he beat you for that.
>>11393289>toonthis is the single most grating term in all of gaming
>>11392878Daybreak's servers aren't legit old school. You should be playing on Project 99 or Project Quarm
>>11394621No but he wouldn't let me play vanilla wow when it came out.
>download game>make account>start it up>create character>instantly alt-tab out to make a thread about how FUN the game I never played is>>11394278You are unironically an insufferable retard.
not me. was busy playing the game that established the south korean mmo hegemon status, even today.
Thats very cool
For me, it's Toontown Online
soul>have to walk from place to place, encountering allies and enemies along the way>have to get a group of people to go with you to a dungeon to complete it>have to /shout in a city what item you want to buy or sell>lose all items and some exp when you die>can fight anyone anywhere to the death and take all their items>stat points, mana, and consumables actually matter and aren't just inventory clutter>takes 2 years to get max levelsoulless>fast travel, teleportation, flying>dungeon party finder queue menu to insta spam 10 minute dungeons with randoms you'll never even talk to>global auction hub in every city for easily buying any and every item you might want or need>lose nothing upon death>PVP is pointless since you don't get anything from it and there's nothing at stake for dying from pvp, so you just turn it off in the options menu>stat points??? huh??? health and mana regen to max after not being in combat for 4 seconds, so no point in carrying potions.>takes 2 days to get max levelmodern MMORPGs are a mistakeI just hate the abysmal UI and graphics with EverQuest and the controls and gameplay feels super clunky and awkward to me. I never played it back then, I tried it recently and couldn't get into it, but there are a lot of things about the game I do like
