best version of rayman 2?
>>11393117Dreamcast and PC are the ones to play. Dreamcast has some additional content.N64 is the base version but has a worse framerate and visuals than either DC or PC.PS1 is a weird cut down version that's not really worth experiencing. PS2 actually has interesting content changes but also a framerate that makes the N64 look good.DS and 3DS are awful, never touch them. No idea about the iOS version.
>>11393131pretty much thisDreamcast is the definitive version IMO. i think PS2 is worth checking out too, it's the best looking one but it's slightly altered, basically a special edition of the game.
>>11393117Long version - skip to "Version differences":https://raymanpc.com/wiki/en/Rayman_2tl;dr version - only bother with DC, PS1 and PS2 versions:>N64Pretty much the base version of the game. MIDI OST.>PCSame as N64 version but better quality of OST, graphics and framerate.>DCSame as PC version but with some improvements in graphics, addition of Globox Village (minigames) and replacement of Hall of Doors with Isle of Doors (aka level selection just lookds a bit different). Overall, Ancel himself considers it to be the best version of Rayman 2.>PS1A PC version that was scaled down and downgraded to fit on platform that resulted to removal of some levels (Sanctuary of Water and Ice is a loss, but thank fuck Top of the World was removed) and level sections. Features actual voice acting and one 2D level of Rayman 2 prototype.>PS2Basically an opposite of PS1 version - it's a PC version but with even more improved graphics and a bunch of new features added: proper hub-world levels instead of Hall of Doors, upgrade system by trading in yellow lums, expanded levels, new boss fights and mook fights. Some new stuff feels a bit low-quality (like Grolem 13 fight) and on native hardware game suffered from framedrops (dunno about emulator).>DSA bad port of N64 version>iOSA port of DC version without Globox Village>3DSPretty much the same as iOS port.
>>11393117Ancel said in "Devs Play" that the DC version is the one that uses the original textures. The PC release used them earlier in development but it was downscaled to match the N64 release. So the DC version is the closest to the artist's vision.
Hall of Doors > Isle of Doors
>>11393329that's why I prefer the PC version over DC
>>11393117Play the Dreamcast version first, then emulate the PS2 version with widescreen and 60fps hacks for a new-ish experience. 'Swat I did.
>>11393131>>11393157>>11394318On Dreamcast the camera is 60fps but everything else in game still moves at 30fps. It's very weird to look at.
Honestly, most of the stuff added in Revolution was for the worse, especially the bigger focus on combat
>>11393117PS1 is the "all killer, no filler" version with skippable cutscenes, less tutorials, and full voice acting.Visuals aren't as good though.
>>11393117DC or PC reallyAnyone even mentioning the PS1 version is a fanboy, that one is not worth it at allThe N64 version is good if you don't have the other versions.
>>11394318>>11393157PS2 version is for 3 year olds.
>>11394359The missing levels ruin it.
>>11393117They are all the same.
>>11394338Are you sure, its been ages since I played the dreamcast version, but I distinctly remember animations being the only thing running at 30fps. Object position I am pretty sure was 60fps too.
