Why do I see people clamoring for remakes of everything nowadays? Everytime a classic game is brought up people literally beg for remakes. And this was after Dq3 hd2d electric boogaloo came out proving they'd censor shit like Ayla and it would look inferior to full sprites. Is it zoomers or millenials? Do people not know how to emulate?! I dont fucking get it. You're using a computer its FREE ITS FREE BITCH ITS RIGHT FUCKING THERE AHHHHH
>>11393172>nowadaysWelcome to the last sixty years(at least) of pop culture.
>>11393198Truth. Heston's Ben-Hur in the 1959 was the third of 5 hollywood remakes.
>>11393172>Is it zoomers or millenials? Do people not know how to emulate?! I dont fucking get it. You're using a computer its FREE ITS FREE BITCH ITS RIGHT FUCKING THERE AHHHHHYou obviously don't leave your basement much. PC is dying and each day people are more and more tech-illiterate. 60+ people never knew how to use current technology in general and 25- people never had an actual computer, only cell phones.
>>11393172Dying company, prease understando
>>11393198/threadIt's always pop culture bullshit.
>>11393172Computers just aren't fun or interesting
>>11393198>last sixty yearsArguably, pop culture is just an evolution of idolatry worship, to the point it's barely the same thing.
Who's clamouring? The remakes get shat out and marketed online by shills, but you don't, for example, hear a years-long clamour for a remake and then finally the studio grudgingly agrees. You just sound like you can't tell the difference between the pulse and the shills, OP.
>>11393172>Why do I see people clamoring for remakes of everything nowadays?Because "old good, new bad" when it comes to quality of videogame itself (don't ask me) but also "old is too hard / ughh too problematic / had outdated graphics, make it easier / censor it / add modern graphics" (again, don't ask me why people think like that).Corpos know about this, so instead of risking with making a completely new title (especially if it's AAA budget title) they slap together a remaster or remake (quality varies based on budget and dev team), slap $40~70 price tag on it and make free money off idiots.>Everytime a classic game is brought up people literally beg for remakesAgain, it's kinda like modern gamers like to claim that modern games are better than old ones, but at the same time they keep hearing about all those awesome old games off social media (TikTok, Youtube, X, Discord, etc.) and they don't wanna 180 their opinion about old vs bad, so they keep begging for remakes and remaster so that they can get the game AND still claim that new games are better than old ones.In reality, the only games that require remakes are the ones that had some serious flaws in the original version. Something like Odin Sphere comes to mind - awful framerate when too much stuff is hapening on the screen (Odette's spider form even freezing the PS2 in some cases), pretty wonky combat system, too much menuing when it comes to alchemy system, not enough differences between FIVE playthroughs to justify them, and so on. Skip many years to Leifthrasir remake that pretty much fixed most of issues original version had AND still included original version of the game in remake in case someone really wanted to experience the jank of PS2 Odin Sphere.Sadly, too many devs these days remake games not for the sake of actual improvement, but for the sake of trivial changes (often for the worse) and slapping modern price tag on the game to make free money.
Video games are not art.As technology improves video games can improve and revise. They're games 1st.They remade CastlevaniaThey remade Mario 3 Nothing is untouchable
>>11393172>Why do I see people clamoring for remakes of everything nowadays? The simple answer is that the common person has poor taste, and "thinking men" generally don't clamor over high budget slop games. I'm far more content with playing old games as they were, and generally think things would be nicer if companies greenlit more original IPs. But that's never gonna happen, because that's not what prints money. That said, some remakes are cool, since some teams are blessed with talented people and a forgiving IP holder. It just depends how it turns out, not all remakes are terribad but most will be. And it'll all still sell and atleast return the production costs.
>>11393350>The simple answer is that the common person has poor tasteVideo games are toys, not art. Get over yourself.
>>11393172NGL I'd love a full AAA remake of Chrono Trigger with FighterZ-tier visual fidelity to animated Toriyama. It's not as if JRPGs have any other appeal than the visuals and music complimenting a nice story anyway
>>11393359Consumers and publishers treating them like toys is why the video game market is like it is, yes. Very astute, anon.
>>11393359Okay manbaby
>>11393172it's westoid faultthey are the only ones incapable of emulating/pirating old games that's why they need remakes so they can play them on Steam or on their modern consoles
>>11393172>Why do I see people clamoring for remakes of everything nowadays? If you're actually encountering this, it's because you spend way too much time hanging around losers.
>>11393359Manufactured toys are art. Get back in your grave Roger Ebert
>>11393229>>11393229I noticed everytime Xenogears is mentioned anywhere I go except 4chan its filled with people begging for a remake. I'm not going to make a comment compilation but its all over the official square music youtube. In almost every video for it. A lot of people actually thought this was leading up to a remake too lol.
>>11393524Even Ebert acknowledged that he made that statement hastefully, and admitting that he knew nothing about video games.
>>11393524I want the 400 dollar weltall so fucking much its beautiful.
>>11393372Consumers and publishers don't treat them like toys anymore, retard. They used to back in the golden age of gaming. Nowadays they treat it like an art form, so we get "cinematic experience" slop.
Oh I'd much rather that companies just not go after emulation sites.
>>11393172>Dq3 hd2d electric boogaloo came out proving they'd censor shit like AylaWhat did they censor?
>>11393172>Is it zoomers or millenials? It doesn't matter which. Each is worse than the other>Do people not know how to emulate?!Sadly that's the case for some of the above. For everyone else, it's standards.>I dont fucking get it.It being what? A job?
>>11393986All the difficulty. It gives you stat-booster seeds like candy and gives counterpart skills to all the non-magic users, restores all your HP and MP on every level-up, and lets you restart any lost battle with no halving of your money. And also something about making the Warrior wear more clothes, but that's been around for a while now.
>>11393535Xenosaga was essentially going to be that remake though with a completely different story. There was no way they could fit a game like xenogears on the PS2 so they planned six games to really go all in the grand story they intended to tell. And they had to axe the whole project because it wasn’t selling. The same shit will happen to any large RPG from the PlayStation era. And I hear the same shit about FF9. Nobody cared enough about the original version, what is the remake going to be other than a huge pain in the ass?
>>11393986they removed the semi-perfectcell shoop da woop lips on the boss troll and specifically just him
>>11393364Lol you're not getting Chrono Fighter, that's a huge budget sink.
New franchises are a big risk and most fail and are called derivative in some way.Video games cost a lot of money now and going with an established IP is usually a safe bet to make a profit, but maybe not the most profit. I think companies sometimes use remakes as a project for their newer/younger teams to teach and filter for good workers.
>>11393535The game was essentially only half finished, the second disc was mostly a movie.>>11396213Xenosaga was kind of boring compared to Xenogears sadly.
>>11393683Yeah. They treat it like the toy version of movies, and not the artform side of it. aka, "cinematic slop" like the Avengers.Very astute, anon.
for some a game release is a social thing. with a new release you can play a game and talk about it with other people. if you just play an old game just for playing and enjoying it then it's gonna be harder to find people to talk together about it.
>>11393172>Dq3 hd2d electric boogalooThis isn't DQ3. It's DQ11-2.
>>11397209That's how a marketing person would try to shill a new game, yes. But if you look at it overall, the older versions always seem to win out in popularity in the end.Remakes are usually forgotten. People want the real thing.
>>11396889Yeah but why would you want a remake without Takahashi and Saga, by modern Square Enix. If they remastered it they would just find a way to fuck it up and not add anything.
>>11398273Lots of people just have a Switch now, they can fart out any old thing and people will buy it simply because they don't have a console and are too computer stupid to emulate.
>>11394042>All the difficulty. It gives you stat-booster seeds like candy and gives counterpart skills to all the non-magic users, restores all your HP and MP on every level-up, and lets you restart any lost battle with no halving of your money.Motherfucker that is not censorship
>>11398348It's still far more serious than a few extra layers of clothing or recolored lips. Basically, this game is not DQ3.
>>11393172Kino want to remake Ayla vagina!
>>11393172those arent people those are cattle. more than ever thanks to social media.
>>11393209ah yes, i remember the ipad kiddies born in 1999 being given an ipad as soon as they were born

people just like getting excited about things they already like again. its the same reason that those remake sell so well to begin with
>>11393172>ahhh!!!!! Remake this! Remake that!>knowing full well it’ll be shit in today’s era.
Every Youtube video has husks asking for a remake lol
>>11399230>>11393172Queen of /v/
>>11393172I just want to see official versions of classic games on PC. I'm willing to spend money for my favorite games to all be in one place.>but emulation! How's that N64 and original XBox emulation going these days?
>>11393359Kill yourself retard.
>>11399230Absolute kino
>>11401671But why though
>Classic JRPG with super fun dungeon puzzles, a fun spin on the standard JRPG turn based battle system, great characters, a fantastic roguelike side-mode, and a kickass soundtrack>Held back by a shoddy English translation and an abundance of god-awful glitches in the American release>Got a "remake" on the DS that wasn't a true remake at all, it was an entirely different game with redesigned versions of the same characters and a HEAVILY modified version of the same story (still a good game, but a pretty shit remake)If any game needs a remake (or a re-remake, I guess), it's this one.
>>11393535>consoles>SwitchWell there's your answer for those kids in particular
>>11400564>Born in 99>Iphone launches when they're 7 years old and still tech illiterate>Spend entire life tapping gacha boxesThis is unironically how zoomers were raised. PC is dying .
