>>11394120damn i didnt know the space station silicon valley people made a driving game, not my thing though sorry
You can kill innocent people? No way!
>>11394120no one gave a shit about gta1 or 2. you act like Mortal Kombat didn't exist
>>11394371this, people in the market for an open world driving game got driver instead
>>11394371that’s my whole point, nobody knew the game existed and they didn’t believe me when i was saying you can actually jack cars. i rented it
>>11394380the genre didn’t really exist so there wasn’t a market. driver was sold as being the wheelman in a retro car chase, not as open world. it’s nothing like grand theft auo, other than you do jobs for criminals and deal with cops. the things you could do in grand theft auto were wild. there were three games. they were very popular, they just kinda sucked but the novelty of outrunning cops and running people over was the thing. driver is actually good. the first one.

>>11394371I was wowed by Mortal Kombat as a kid, and then I was wowed by Grand Theft Auto (the first one, but for PC) in a different and better way. They are obviously very different games. GTA's visceral hook was stronger and deeper than Mortal Kombat's, since it actually incorporated the game's mechanics. Mortal Kombat's innovation was mainly in graphics, sound, story/setting, and use of secrets; mechanically it was still basically Street Fighter 2 (except not as good). GTA, to me at least, came across as being something totally new. So it was a bigger deal than Mortal Kombat. It wasn't a bigger deal to the world, yeah. But it almost was. All it needed was for its accessibility to be increased a little via the move from a crappy but functional 2D videogamey world to an even crappier 3D world whose appearance would satisfy the normal person's bizarre hunger for "good" (i.e., realistic) graphics.
>>11394120too bad it's trash port version no one cares about
>>11394475wow you must a really fun conversationist! and psychic too
>>11394460>All it needed was for its accessibilitythat's what gta 2 literally did. you had missions you could repeat and a fucking save point with open ended reputation system with real consequences that no gta game ever since could recapture
>>11394371Zoomie people talked about gta 1 and 2 all the time
>>11394371>you act like Mortal Kombat didn't existmortal kombat has exactly ZERO to do with grand theft auto and was not mentioned in the thread, schizo
