they should've just stuck to turn based combat
>>11456509i have more trouble figuring where to go or not having the right demon field ability
>>11456513that was my experience as well. the combat was clunky but cool and only got a bit better with the second, but actually running around kind of stunk. even if the prerendered scenery was beautiful.maybe it was just the encounter rate though, clashing with the detective/sleuthing aspect of the game
>>11456513>i have more trouble figuring where to goyeah, you just kinda end up going everywhere until you find the npc you're supposed to talk to>or not having the right demon field abilityI just kept a demon with each skill, like pokemon with cut, surf, fly and so on
>>11456509The only thing I remember about that game is the absurdly high number of random battles, and the worst is that you're forced to return to the starting area several times and always end up fighting against low level critters over and over again.
>>11456757you can fast travel any time to the door of the detective agency
>>11456509It's a concept game and the second game was a lot better. Sad they didn't continue the series though. Had a lot of potential.
It's pure kino
>>11456509very underrated series, i'm not a fan of a(j)rpg myself, but this is a good one.
>Summon Pabilsag>Annoying as fuck scraping noise as it walks around.
The setting alone makes it very interesting to me. Are there any other games set in the Taisho era? RPG or not.
>>11456509>>11456873I've never played a MegaTen title but the setting makes me want to check this game out
>>11456873Sakura Wars. The bad guys are trying to remove all Western influence from Japan and bring back the shogunate
>>11458112you mean the good guys, right?
>>11456757This really underscores the problem with RPGs. If the gameplay is fun, then random battles should be exciting instead of boring. Likewise, you don't have to worry about enemies giving too little EXP in other genres because you're too busy enjoying the time spent killing them.
>>11458356>good guysDo you even know how to speak japanese, Billy Joe? Without using a translator, of course.
>>11458395hai watashi no nihonnese subarashii desu
>>11456948They have some incredible settings. A lot of the games are just "Tokyo" or "Tokyo but post-demon-apocalypse", but even those are good, and the ones that go beyond that are really cool. Always been partial to the Digital Devil Saga setting
>>11458617The DDS games are all underrated and overshadowed by the rest of the series
