In the timeline where Capcom had even a modicum of self control and were significantly less greedy, this game is legendary. Unfortunately we're not in that timeline. The one we inhabit is the one where they made a great idea for a game and loaded it with the most bullshit AI in the genre.

The OG arcade Final Fight I remember just being OK to me, other Capcom beat em ups that are more interesting.

I was told Final Fight 3 on SNES is the best console one, so I played it back to back with SOR2 and still found the latter much more enjoyable, stick with that. Final Fight LOOKS better but isn't as satisfying.

I’m sorry you cannot enjoy Final Fight, OP. But I gotta say it’s my all time favorite game. After learning some quirks and strats it becomes so much fun, such as using backflips to skip large portions of the crowds, learning sodoms attack patterns, trial and error, doing the infinite jabs, doing continuous suplexes as Haggar when you set up enemies on the side and spamming the punch button off screen if you have a weapon. Honestly it might not be for everyone but it certainly is the game that set the standard for beat ‘em ups that came after it. Plus the simplistic plot makes it timeless that you can just pick and play and experience late 80s culture such as beating up snoop dogg wielding a knife, pink wearing Seth Rogan, autistic guys, weeaboos, ambiguous women, a Canadian AND a cripple. You can’t get any more wild than that. Although I will applaud sor for throwing robots and a kangaroo into the mix of its plot but it’s a perfect juxtaposition from everyone else you’ve fought so far. Honestly once you understand some mechanics of the game then you will truly see how brilliant it is.

From what I’ve seen and have practiced myself from 1cc playthroughs is once he starts getting up immediately stand above or below depending on your position that once he does his wake up charge attack he will only go in a diagonal line which will give you an opportunity to either grab him or down+punch jump him to stun and get a chance to grab him however it can be 50/50 since he can charge again when you get close to him

There are other strats I forgot to mention
Such as the andore cage match, you gotta time it right but you gotta grab a pipe or sword and hit them after they get up but it’s a bit tricky however since they have invisibility frames when waking up but once you do you can get them in a pattern of hitting them constantly with it
And when facing off Edie E you gotta make him come to the far left of the screen so the enemies won’t spawn when you fight/infinite/suplex him however I’m still learning strata for Abigail and belger from what I’ve seen you either throw enemies at him or infinite jab until you get hit by the arrows falling down on you

So fucking what. I keep on hearing NInja Gaiden is the best thing ever for its depth but all I see is waves of ninjas for most of the game.

If something can keep you interested and coming back for more it's a success. I do not give a flying fuck about depth in everything and that's the case for most people as well. SMB is as shallow as a puddle and yet people keep on going back for more because levels are just fun to complete.

It still irks me that they didn't just fix the game. 90% of the originals problem is that the 8 megabit cartridge is too small and it uses slowrom. A 12 megabit fastrom cart is all it would take to add in the missing character, the missing stage, allow for co-op and have a couple more enemies on screen. Instead they released the same mediocre port but replaced Cody with Guy.

In this case, use "prepend shader" to add it to your existent shader, then tweak parameters to your liking. In my example pic, it's set to its minimum effect (checkerboard mode only, minimum blend level, linear gamma) and it still does a good job with dithering.
