What are your thoughts on the DBZ games for the snes? I didn't even know there were this many titles after seeing this picture of them all together. Not ONE released outside Japan...
>>11494057I enjoyed Legend of the Super Saiyan. It was a bit slow and grindy at times (which is made substantially less worse by speeding the game up in the emulator) but it was entertaining enough to keep me coming back for more.I have never played any of the other titles though.
>>11494057>Not ONE released outside JapanWhat?
>>11494257>Not ONE released outside JapanThat's not true at all. Several released in Europe. Not our fault it took you until the 00s to go past the "anime=baby shit" opinion and racism against Japan
>>11494268>racism against JapanThere might have been a certain historical reason for that
anyway Hyper Dimension is the best>>11494302yeah but then you have countries like France and Germany which made a lot of efforts to be friends after WW2
>>11494302Now you're full of Indians.
>>11494057Not good, they're better than the Hokuto fighting games on the SFC at least. Hyper Dimension is probably the best DBZ fighter out of all of them, on its own though it's very overrated.
>>11494359>Now you're full of Indians. You said that to hurt me without realizing I'm probably on your side
>>11494323The reason France and Germany got more DBZ ports than the US at the time is because Japan + Germany BFFs >yeah but then you have countries like France and Germany which made a lot of efforts to be friends after WW2Half of France supported Germany during WW2, it's sort of a disingenuous myth that France surrendered. It was more like Half of France on the border of Germany realized they like what the Germans are doing and wouldn't fight their fellow European brothers
>>11494057>Not ONE released outside Japan...menudo mentiroso tio.
>>11494302Wrong board
>>11494489So how do discussions happen if the person I responded to can say what they said, but I can't respond?
>>11494057>What are your thoughts on the DBZ games for the snes?Everybody remembers Z2 as the peak of Dragon Ball, and it was great but the peak was Hyper Dimensions.France, Italy, Spain and Germany are Dragon Ball Land btw.
Alright alright....I should have double check the releases of these games, Europe had more releases of them than to my surprise. I suck.I still like to know if the games are good or not. Only 1 of them I see people ever talk about is Hyper Dimension, while it's got gorgeous sprite art. The game itself is an average fighter at best with forgettable music.
>>11494381>It was more like Half of France on the border of Germany realized they like what the Germans are doing and wouldn't fight their fellow European brothersNot really, the french hated germany completely. If there was any reason to side with the Nazis was so they can avoid being turned into another communist state, which was, at the time, a significant threat (a few countries other than Russia tried it between the two world wars, including Germany, and just two years prior Spain had a civil war between communists and nationalists where the Nazis helped beat the communists).
>>11494762>good or notThey're not.
>>11494359What has Britain got to do with anything?
>>11494762>forgettable musichttps://youtu.be/Tex2q-a-jJ0There's not a single retro Dragonball fighter with forgettable music. They all have great tracks.
>>11494701Man, there's no much official retro DB art that you only see in cards, games, merchandise and so on.I really wish someone would scan those unique artworks and compile them somewhere.
>>11496908It's all from other sources so don't worry about it.
>>11494057DBZ did not start syndication in the United States until 1996 aka when the N64 came out. The reason the SNES DBZ games were not released in America is because no one would have known what the fuck a "Dragon Ball" or a "Son Goku" was. There was no market. Once DBZ actually was on American airwaves it actually did get American releases because there was now a market for it, that market was now simply on the PS1 because the SNES was no longer getting support. This is basic stuff people come on.
>>11496950There's some art in the Hyper Dimension manual that I've never seen anywhere else.
>>11496961
>>11496958Enter.
>>11496980Ok, that was a bad example. But you can't find >>11494701 anywhere else.
>>11494701Hyper Dimension was fucking sick, its a shame it had so many slowdown issues and too much focus on SSJ everything. Definitely one of the greats, and it would still hold up well with some minor improvements. Would be sick if we got a DBZ collection similar to the ones Capcom has been putting out for their older fighting games, I'd love to play this shit online again. I know HDBZ exists and its an awesome fan project, but I'd love to play the original online again.
>>11494701>GermanyDidn't they get the series relatively late ? After the US and UK even
>>11494701Hey thats a different portrait that's whatd in the final game? What about the others?
>>11496958Mexico got Dragonball since late 92/early 03 but that was the Proto-dub (Zero y el Dragom Magico), then in early 95 we got the Dragonball dub we know and love, then in 96 there was some attemot with Bandai to bring the French versions of Super Butoden 2 and that first Sailormoon beatem up (the shitty one) in english, exclusively for LatAm, but then they back down and blamed it on piracy (it sucked)(Btw, Club Nintendo promised to review the Sailormoom one the following issue even preview it on the last page, but NOPE)
>>11497280Which piece? Because the drawing on the right is from the show.
>>11497515Manuals are always full of pre-release screenshots (because they're written up and designed before the game gets pressed). The Final Bout manual had a lot of this.
>>11497515I'm talking about the Goku artwork on the left, I know right is from the anime. That and Super Vegito from here >>11496961 I have never seen outside of Hyper Dimension.Like the old Bandai and Amada trading cards from the 80s and 90s that have so much exclusive art. Here's another piece of official art that you can only find in Final Bout: adult Super Saiyan Goku wearing his GT outfit.>https://80s90sdragonballart.tumblr.com/This is the closest thing I can find that compiles all that old promo art.
>>11498547Fuck I meant to quote >>11497793>>11497796You mean the in-game screenshots in the manual not being from the final release?
>>11497532>and that first Sailormoon beatem up (the shitty one) in englishBut it's a good game?
>>11498561They're not from the final release, no. The HUD is different and some of the visuals are different. The build used is the same one which was featured ar E3 19967, it's a very buggy-looking build, interestingly though it looks more responsive. IGN somehow had this version when they reviewed the game.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Plr8pRKutvw&t=167s
