Recently played pic related and it might be a new favourite but I've never heard anyone talk about it. Post other SNes games you think more people should play
Metal Max 2
>>11494518>filters 90% of /vr/
I've 1CC'd the game with Ninja and Kamaitachi but the girl is really weak I keep dying at some point. At least you really have to use all her skills with her.
>>11494541Played the remake of this and it was one of the best beat em ups i've played. Should check out the original. this boss was the hardest one in the game
>>11494559The original is more difficult
great game, don't see anyone mention it on here
>>11494617played this as well. It arguably controls better, but I prefer Metal warriors on every other front
All three Addams Family games.
>>11494518I think I never passed the second level on this, but the multiplayer was great.
>>11494737You should give it another try. It is very "cinematic" for a snes game
>>11494610How is this underrated?
It's very impressive for a western made game of that time.
>>11494617There's a crack for the uncensored ROMhttps://romhackplaza.org/romhacks/assault-suits-valken-world-switch-crack-snes/Way better than Gideon's fan translation from 20 years ago, in classic fashion that crashes all the time and has graphical bugs.
>>11494518I used to play that game a ton in my teens. Rarely hear people talk about it.If you don't know about Cybernator, definitely check that out as well. The games are very similar (Cybernator also has you control a bipedal mech you can exit at any time).IIRC Metal Warriors was sort of a spiritual successor to Cybernator.I think only one of the two games supports 2 players though https://youtu.be/GveShUl5rdk?si=kLGNJIQhol_5FsUU
>>11495226>IIRC Metal Warriors was sort of a spiritual successor to CybernatorEssentially. It was made by the same guys as Zombies Ate My Neighbors because they liked Cybernator so much. It was supposed to be published by Nintendo but they dropped out at the last minute for unknown reasons, hence the limited release under Konami leading to its rarity. The two programmers from Cybernator also made a spiritual sequel of sorts with Front Mission Gun Hazard. So there's three great mecha games on SNES with similar gameplay.
what happened to this part of lucasarts? why did they stop making non starwars games?
>>11495226>>11495239Also worth mentioning that Cybernator/Assault Suits Valken is itself a prequel to Target Earth/Assault Suits Leynos for the Genesis, with a third game and direct sequel, Assault Suits Leynos 2, coming later for the Saturn. There's an Assault Suits Valken 2 for the PS1 as well but it's a turn based strategy game in the vein of Front Mission.
>>11495239Oh shit, I never knew. Uematsu and Mitsuda, as in the Chrono Trigger guys did the soundtrack too. Definitely checking that out, thanks!
>>11494594Indeed a great game, but I think most people prefer 3 4 or 5 for different reasons>>11494625Extremely underrated. Its not GW:ED but goddamn is it trying. Here's another one that finally got a rerelease:
If people asked me, I feel my list would be too long, but if I were to pick just 5:>Demon's CrestThe game is pure kino, from start to finish. Amazing soundtrack, gothic ambiences that are just sublime, and a short but great story: you are a demon, and another screwed you, and you revived just to kill him. It´s just *chef's kiss*>Weapon LordEpic fantasy is a forgotten genre these days. The last one I would call it like that is God of War, and even then I'd just pick the ones for PS2/3.In this game, you have a group of barbarians fighting in a demonic realm for the right to fight the Demon Lord. In another MKII copy, this game is hard to learn, and even harder to master. But when everything clicks, the enemies aren't fighting against a human. They are fighting the new Demon Lord>Act Raiser 1 and 2Going to a more "lightheart" choice, here you play as a God who goes to the human world to save it. The first one is interesting because it joins a basic town building sim with an adventure mode. And the second is a good follow up. No town sim, but the game is good on it's own, and has a good bittersweet ending. Good choices.>Saturday Slam MastersEver wanted to play a good WWE game without being a WWE game? This game is for you. It has a 1v1 and a 2v2 mode, the gameplay is simple but fun, and the characters are really colorful with awesome moves. Side note: you can play as Haggar of Final Fight, or pick Gunlock, the unnoficial brother of Guile from Street Fighter. Is an awesome game.>Return of Double DragonThe japanese version of Super Double Dragon. It's the most polished version of Double Dragon for SNES, with better combos, the brothers have different styles (Billy is strong, Jimmy is fast), can swap weapons, and you have two extra levels, one which is the classic bosh rush with the main theme. The way that game should be enjoyed.Special mention to Alien 3. A game where you can use a machinegun, a grenade launcher, and a flamethrower, at the same time!
>>11494687Hell yeah! The first one is one of my favorites. Simple, full of tons of secrets, non-linear Metroidvania world to explore. Pugsley's Scavenger hunt is just a brutal, brutal game. It's like if the Lost Levels were made with the power of the Super Nintendo. I never beat a single level on that, but I can no death run Addams Family.Values is apparently even harder, and I agree from the few hours I've played it. Just a giant maze with so many unforgiving elements, but it's a LttP type game which is rare, and besides all that it's kind of fun. It reminds me of Alundra.
>>114945182 player over LAN was my jam with this game 20+ years ago
>>11494942it's such forgettable boxart that most people would think it's shovelware, me included, and i worked at a local used vidya store. it wasn't until college that someone i worked with recommended this game and after trying it i was completely sold. dunno why they didn't keep the anime faces on the box, the pilots look cool and the flaming unicorn thing too
>>11494610if you like this you gonna love the first ace combat game on the snes
How about this one?
Approximately 30 years ago I rented Dirt Trax FX and had fun with it for a few days. It was a fun-for-a-few-days kind of game. If you're curious about the odd feeling of playing a Super FX chip game and you want to be a weirdo who doesn't play the couple of more famous 3D games that used that chip, give it a try. You too might have fun with it for a few days
>this is how close I was to my 1CC
>>11494518
Bump
>>11496949Nice. I see that GCCX has challenged a few like Magic Sword, SoS, and Firemen. They should tackle Magical Pop'n, Skyblazer, and Taekon-do sometime.
>>11495895I just finished this game. I died like a hundred times. Impressive you made it that far. Normal or hard mode?
>>11499860This. It's the only Mana-like game that's actually good.
>>11495305Gun Hazard is one of the great SNES games. I envy anyone who hasn’t played it yet.
>>11499917It is also half-finished like SoM. If you play the JP version, which doesn’t force grinding, you can probably beat it in an hour.
>>11499860Love the game, blew my mind when I found out it had (a Japanese only) sequel, and said sequel was a fucking golf game.
