Thoughts? Does it hold up?

Yeah, good game. It was one of the first games I got when I had an Xbox 360 back in the day. Bought it on Xbox live and the online play was great.

Need more boat racing games like that
>>
It's fun, especially couch multiplayer with friends.

That might have been Hydro Thunder Hurricane which is not retro but also kino.
>>

A game that plays and looks just like its Arcade counter-part?

Fuck yes. Was good and still good.
>>
The PC port of Hydro Thunder is bizarrely well optimized. It came out in 2001 and is still playable on a Pentium 1. That's lower end hardware than the original arcade version ran on.
>>
Arcade to PSX ports usually suck but Hydro Thunder is great on both N64 and PSX
>>

N64 with the RAM expansion is still the only way to play 4 player splitscreen.

Excellent game, one of my all time favorites. I like the PC version the most, PSX the least.

The PSX version has better colors, lighting and reflections than other ports despite the framerate

>bought the Dreamcast version recently
>not getting any sound effects even though the disc is pretty much in pristine condition with no visible scratches whatsoever, music plays fine though
>look it up
>turns out I have the launch version of the game that's known for having issues like this which were later fixed in the "Hot! New!" release (pic related)

TL;DR If you're looking to buy this, get the red disc version and avoid the blue one.
>>
used to play the arcade and then bought the dreamcast version. i remember it being hard

Damn, thanks anon
>>
ive only played the n64 version, which looks prettier than the ps1 port at the expense of being slightly slower. it only runs full speed on multiplayer

the rubberbanding AI is extreme in this game, i had to beat hydro thunder by sticking to the slowest boats
>>
I loved this game in arcades and I loved it on PS1. Playing the Dreamcast port was a revelation, it's perfect.
