The "choppiness" is that slowdown where the game is constantly grinding to a halt because game speed is tied to framerate. With CPU overclock, Metal Slug feels fantastic even at 30fps. Low framerate and framerate drops are bad because of input lag and dropped inputs; Metal Slug with overclock has very low input lag and no issue with dropped inputs, so it's not an issue.
