I grew up with it, but now it has just become a Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country machine. All it's third party games have better entries on other systems, except maybe JRPGs. I can't make that call as I'm not a storyfag. If you can think of a non JRPG game that has the best entry on SNES then let me know and I will try it. Let's keep this a constructive thread.

>All it's third party games have better entries on other systems
But most of these games are their own unique thing worth playing, even if you prefer other entries on different system.
Looking at something like CV4 or MMX. These are still worth your time even if they are not your favourite in the franchise.

What you are saying is true, however I am 31 and have been playing these games since I was 6. Ive played most of the really popular games for 90s retro systems, so now if I'm going to dedicate time to a contra game I am going to play my favourite, which is Contra 1 and Hard corps.

Why did they redesign it for the US and make it so fucking hideous? I bought a modded PAL console just to avoid having this abomination in my home.

Imo sometimes it's better to try new games than just playing the same thing over and over. Platformer-wise you've got games ranging from Capcom's Disney titles to Konami's Tiny Toons to stuff like Congo's Caper, Super Adventure Island, Rocky Rodent, and the Joe & Mac games. Like we can always go back to DKC and Mega Man X, but sometimes it's fun to try new games that we didn't grow up with to keep it fresh. Same is true with every platform imo.

if Donkey Kong Country is so good, why does it usually have zero (0) live streams on twitch?

also, why can't i find a livestream of a lava lamp anywhere? is there a conspiracy behind this?

the colour scheme is great, concave buttons too, the blockiness is whack
>>
>>11498071
I think he meant multiplats as most third party games were still console exclusive. And he's correct there. SNES does not have a single multiplat that isn't better on Genesis even though it's library as a whole kicks the shit out of the Sega library
>>
>>11498142
The concave buttons are terrible. They only exist because the person designing it thought Americans were too dumb to deal with four buttons and would need a way to differentiate them. There's a reason it isn't something that was carried forward to future controller designs.
>>
>>11498169
yeah, unending stupidity. It culminated with the xbox controllers and their convex/droplet buttons, because of course it's MS being that retarded.
Convex buttons just feel great, it's some Junji Ito shit, they're made for me. I understand that for some genres these are suboptimal, like fighting games, but you use a fightstick anyway if you want to git gud, so whatever.

>SNES does not have a single multiplat that isn't better on Genesis

super SFII new challengers
magical quest 2
zombies ate my neighbors
BOB
turtles in time
sunset riders
art of fighting
fatal fury special (2 is better on genesis)

there aren't that many "snes to genesis" ported games but they exist, and they're usually better on snes

Disney titles on SNES were superb, I prefer the ones on NES, Master System and Genesis, but the Magical Quest titles, and Donald Duck and the Magical Hat, also the ones based on films like Aladdin and The Lion King, were excellent. If you loved Disney and had a SNES, you had it good.

Okay it had one better multiplat

The Mega Drive Aladdin game by Virgin is way better than the Capcom SNES one. The Lion King is better on MD too because you can see more than three feet in front of you thanks to the higher resolution. Simba's jump is also bugged in the SNES version, making some routes inaccessible.
>>
>>11499438
>three feet in front of you
Here's the thing, you don't need 320 pixels to do that. If a game is properly made, and the game scrolls when the character is at the center of the screen, then 256->320 pixels just adds 32 pixels at the left and right sides, so not much. The only reason it matters here is because its a dogshit broken western game which scrolls at the side of the screen instead of the center.

>The Mega Drive Aladdin game by Virgin is way better than the Capcom SNES one.
Having played both, nah. I prefer the whacky acrobatic SNES version instead of the ooc mad slasher Aladdin on the Genesis. Even in the graphics department I prefer Capcoms signature style of pixel art to Virgins though I appreciate both. Lion King though, can't say I enjoy the game on either console.

I have a save ready to go where I got the boost boots from penguin's stage and then died, just so I can go sliding through megaman x in any order I want. Love just blasting through that game no matter how many times I complete it
>>
>>11499438
I also prefer the Virgin one, though I love both. I wish we had gotten both a Virgin and a Capcom version for The Lion King like we did in Aladdin, more good video games! What's not to like? Indeed, I prefer the Genesis version for The Lion King mostly due to the 2nd level not only having better visibility on Genesis, but you're not forced to swing on the hippo's tails, which sometimes work, and sometimes not, you can skip it by going the higher route.

>>11499448
Agreed, but overall having more visibility is always good, it just looks better.

>>11499456
SIMS' Aladdin was better than both and I'm tired of pretending it's not.
>>
>>11499480
The rest of the list was wrong

I'll give you Turtles and Street Fighter II, the rest is slop
