Apologize

I liked it as a kid (I think this might actually be the first Sonic game I played), but it plays nothing like the mainline Sonic games, it's a lot more like Spot Goes to Hollywood (which was a better game btw).

Really good OST though.

Even then, 3D Blast still filters a few faggots like you OP.

Good game. Good length, good challenge, good level design and good music

I love this one, especially the DX ROM hack made by the developer. It has level design that's not too big, nor too small, and with landmarks here and there, that makes it fun to explore. OST's sublime, graphics are excellent for the hardware, and yes, I know it doesn't qualify as "real" 3D, but you can move freely in the 3rd dimension so it's enough for me, it's a good 3D platformer that's criminally underrated in my eyes.

shit game

I see this criticism for every single Sonic title and I don't get it, on something like the handheld titles with a lower resolution, I guess it can be more of a pain than it needs to be, but on home console titles? It just feels like a skill issue, you can see all you need to react in time and, as long as you roll down slopes, you'll mostly be fine, Sonic titles are easy and exhilirating fun and I still see people on /vr/ of all places getting filtered by them and then getting salty, it's dire.

I grew up with the Genesis version but as an adult I prefer the Saturn version's upgraded visuals. Both soundtracks are nice but for everything after Rusty Ruin I prefer the Genesis compositions.

Go beat Sonic Labyrinth.

I wonder if GameHut will ever do an official DX patch for the Saturn version?

Most people are just bad at Sonic games, platformers in generals imo. Basic concepts like object permanence, and camera controls just are a skill most people can't grasp. Especially egregious in Sonic's case because he has the roll which is a hard counter to most enemies and a safety net

Not 3D, just isometric (diagonal) with prerendered sprites.
I'd rather be in Genocide City Zone.

I went from loving the Genesis version, to loving the Saturn version... to then preferring the Director's Cut over both, it's just that big of an improvement to me, in pretty much all regards, it feels next generation, what the Saturn version should've been, aside from the graphical update it got, it especially needed that level select and more of a collect-a-thon focus with those emblems.

>Original developer came back to its own game 20 years after launch to fix and expand the game just like he always wanted

Extremely based

Wish he didn't try too hard with the pointless recolors but beyond that, what an incredible job.

I know it's a sin to say this... but this is my favorite Sonic title to play, it's just so much fun to me.

I wish, it'd be the definitive version of 3D Blast for sure, and what we should've actually gotten on the Saturn in 1996.

But it nerfs the chaos emeralds so you can't get super sonic early. To be fair, they also did that with the Saturn version, but the genesis version always allowed it. Getting the chaos emeralds early is a Sonic tradition that director's cut and Saturn version needlessly did away with.

I can't remember where I read this, but I swear I read once from the developer that the Saturn version isn't a true port. I.E. they didn't actually rewrite the game for the Saturn, they instead made a Genesis interpreter for Saturn, so that the same code was compatible for both consoles. They only had to replace the assets, soundtrack, and then Sonic Team did the special stages.

Anyway, if I'm not being retarded here, the developer should be able to just patch his own DX edition into Saturn 3D Blast with minimal editing.
