How is it? It is a decent way to experience this game for the first time?
>>
>>11507340
No
>>
I have no problem with the casualization but the 30FPS cap is utterly unforgivable. Aiming is painful.
>>
>>11507340
The way levels are cut up is pretty painful
>>
>>11507340
I played it right after I played the PC version for the first time. It might as well be a completely different game. The levels are weirdly cut up and slightly redesigned, the graphics are completely different, hell even the general gameplay isn't really the same with how they mapped everything to a controller.

Absolutely wouldn't recommend it for a first time, especially when the original is so legendarily good. Its a neat curiosity if you've already played it though.

>decent way to experience this game for the first time?
back in 2002? sure, why not. but these days? not really.
>>
>>11507340
there's literally no reason to play this on PS2 when any toaster or laptop can run this at 60fps
>>
>>11507340
Why the fuck would anyone care about this? Just play the original dumbshit, jesus.
>>
Yes, just like half life or soldier of fortune. Don't listen to pctroons
>>
>>11507340
Yes, it's cool.
>>
It has some actual improvements over the PC version, don't listen to the ignorant shitposters that as usual don't know anything

If you played with a 2002 PC, the PS2 version was more playable. If you played with a 2004+ PC the PC is ideal. PC gaming only really became viable with Intel/Amd dual core processors. Seriously, even the top end GPU/CPU of the early 2000s struggled with 1990 games. The averages fluctuated wildly, meaning that the chips couldn't keep up with the games. That's why custom CFG's were a big deal and low resolutions were the standard for competitive gamers.

So I can play on my TV with a controller??
>>
The best way to play the game is with Deus Exe

Little known fact: You can plug a usb mouse and keyboard into your PS2 and this game recognizes them.
>>
>>11508160
It's a cool feature but have fun using a mouse in a game with constant sub 30 fps drops. Rather just aim with a controller at that point.
>>
>>11507878
It's actually called Gayass Sex
>>
>>11507340
Probably a fine way if you are already familiar with DX, but it makes some bizarre level design choices, i know it's for optimization and such, but it changes the context of many of the story missions in a major way, by clumping important NPC's into the same area to minimize level loads. It also adds datacubes which straight up allow you to skip some quests and NPC's altogether. The controls are surprisingly easy to grasp, they even have TS2 style freeaim when leaning, hell you can play with a M+KB, but the FPS is indeed poopoo, as are the loading times. The HD models are kinda shit, but for me, a DX obsessive, it served as an alright way to experience DX again.

As a general rule any PC port for these old ganes is inferior and not worth touching.
>>
Most games on vr: the pc to console port is not worth touching.
>>
>>11508348

ignorant take. half-life, quake 3 revolution and deus ex were both great PS2 ports with exclusive features and gameplay modes. half-life ps2 even had the exclusive co-op feature.
>>
>>11508139
The PC game doesn't have proper controller support; you can't even navigate menus with a gamepad.
>>11508351
Half-Life on PS2 is shite because you must constantly break your immersion to pause and quicksave due to the removal of checkpoints.
>>
>>11507340
Nah, it feels like playing with one hand tied behind your back, just play the original.
>>
>>11507646
>Don't listen to the people who have played both, listen to me who watched some youtube video
Fuck off.
>>
>>11507702
This is not the kind of game you want to play with a controller.
>>
>>11508264
You seriously need to shut the fuck up more often.
>>
>>11507340
My first playthrough was the ps2 version through pcsx2
Very comfy
I can't believe I didn't play this game back then.
>>
>>11507340
I like it for the curiosity it is and the controller support that works quite well. For a ps2 port I think it's even pretty impressive. But for the first actual playthrough go for the original PC version. Fuck that redesign crap.
>>
>>11508603
Sure it is. What's the problem? It's not like it's an online competitive game. My last playthrough was on the steam deck. The only tricky part was how the game needlessly maps each individual augment to its own function key but that's easily solved a hundred different ways.

>no widescreen patch
>playing at 16:9
why???
>>
>>11509179
>I'm a fucking idiot who wants to do everything wrong, EXPLAIN HOW
you being a dumbshit is not my responsibility
>>
Do PCfags do anything other than shit themselves and seethe at the mere idea of anyone playing "their games" on a console? lol
>>
>>11507340
I just thought it was silly to see a copy of the ps2
>>
>>11507340
It's a solid port but it should absolutely not be your first way to play the game
>>
>Man it's [DOGSHIT VERSION] good to play?
>No, I won't play [GOOD AND ONLY CORRECT VERSION] ever! so don't tell me 2+2 = 4, give me a real answer!
I hate these fucking threads
>>
>>11511915
>>No, I won't play [GOOD AND ONLY CORRECT VERSION] ever! so don't tell me 2+2 = 4, give me a real answer!
When did this happen in this thread? Which reply?
>>
>>11511628
That's their entire identity. 7th gen really signed them up for a lifetime of it.

Deus Ex on the PS2 is cool, any fan of Deus Ex or first timer should give it a try. Half-Life as well.
>>
>>11507340
I enjoyed it when I played it nearly 2 decades ago, but I don't think I'd recommend playing it now
>>
>>11507482
>Aiming is painful.
What are you even on about the aiming in the port is a auto-aim combined with a stat check.
>>
>>11507702
The original game has controller support, oddly enough it only installs the driver for it if you have a controller plugged in during installation. The default controller inputs need work though so definitely customize them
>>
>>11511628
Nobody is seething at the idea that a PS2 version of Deus Ex exists. This is a completely mis-direction of what people are actually discussing - that the PS2 version is obsolete and worse.
>>
>>11507340
You could, but why?
It's not like you can't run the PC version at 60fps.
>>
>>11512523
The PS2 version plays a lot better than the very bad and dated PC original.
>>
>>11507340
It's censored. Avoid like plague.
