We have threads all the time about gaming magazines but what about gaming news sites? Early IGN and Early Gamespot for example. Any good memories or was it boring and soulless even back then?

They were never good

Nah they were always considered shitty. "You can't spell ignorant without IGN" and such

I remember going to gametrailers.com for some news. They'd have Monty Oum animations and Pop Fiction which just amazes me more about the games I already played. Normally I like to link the Shadow of the Colossus episode, but this time FF6 had a really cool one to me too: https://youtu.be/6K8QyzlE_bI

I think it was something like classicgaming.com, at the time I thought it was part of IGN and it had weekly reviews and memories of stuff like christmas games. You could download roms and game companies didn't care. It was not souless at all, the games weren't worth much but we all thought they were worth preserving.

Digital press, was a forum but often had the newest info on stuff like flash carts and console mods. A lot of controversy about game grading at the time.

Playnow forums, pretty hardcore into dreamcast then the acceptance of ps2 and the start of xbox. Every time a new system came out everyone thought the ps2 was doomed.

smspower.org continuing along still providing new information, I was amazed to read about the japanese system

atari age still going, its still about the same which is good. That guy trying to make that Night Rider game was a bit of a laugh. Warm to basic he said.
