The big guy on the left from Rampart really inspired the creation of The Executioner in Mace: The Dark Age (another Atari Games creation) years later.
singleplayer in Rampart was tough as nails, multiplayer is super fun though

It's so bad that even the hardcore Rampart fans who would emulate the arcade version didn't reach level 4 or 6 or whatever it was for years, and thus never noticed the emulation was broken and would crash after that level. It wasn't until one of the MAME devs was doing a stream of the game and using cheats to check out the later levels that the bug was noticed and finally fixed.
