Does anyone know the differences between Lemmings on sega compared to snes?
I have only played it on pc like over 2 decades ago but i remember it was really fun.
Have a major hankering to play this game but not sure which version to purchase.
>>
why not just emulate both and see?

Play the Amiga version. Best of the lot.
>>
>>11510985
I'm not opposed to emulation, I just don't.

>>11510990
Oh yeah, whys that? Unfortunately I dont own a Amiga. I have only played it on my friend's computer as a kid, which i think was windows.
>>
>>11510971
ive been watching playthrough videos on both consoles for a few minutes now. The only thing i can really tell is that the sega versions music is way 'harsher' which is to be expected I guess.
>>
>>11511004
oh and on the sega version, it literally makes a fart sounding noise when the lemmings enter their...exit/home....wait are they going home? idk why i just realized how dumb that sounds. I always thought you were sending them home when they go through the exit
>>
>>11510993
Well besides being the platform that released it originally, all the music and graphics are pressed against it to see how it compares.
>>
>>11511013
ah ha. neat. I also just found out that eventually the company that made lemmings eventually was the same that released gta
>>
>>11511021
Aye, that's right. I grew up with the DOS version and that's the one I love the most, but the Amiga one is clearly superior. Better graphics, better sound, all than good stuff. Plus, Lemmings 2.
>>
>>11511037
yeah i guess i grew up playing the DOS version.
I'm surprised...well not really....that lemmings hasnt gotton super modern releases. It's not flashy, kinda slow paced at times so i can get it but god damn is it fun and really cozy
>>
Am I retarded for finding these games really difficult? Pretty quickly I reach levels that just seem impossible or only one solution
>>
>>11511047
youre not retarded.
>>
>>11511047
These games aren't particularly challenging, they're mostly logical, and that can throw folk for a loop. You're fine.

Play the C64 version to experience the utter absurdity of such a technically demanding game on such an under powered machine:

I always figured the reason the screen size is so narrow is they swapped the background tiles with sprites - doing the background as sprites with raster multiplexing and drawing the lemmings in software on the bitmap display, but in nearly 30 years I still haven't got around to finding out.

let the man make a thread about a game god forbid someone talks about anything besides the MSRP of the 32x and how it would have saved sega.

The obvious:

Colour palette
New levels

The not so obvious:

The smaller VRAM in the Mega Drive results in levels from the Amiga being shrunk in size.

I actually prefer the smaller stages as the originals tend to drag once you notice it.

Even having played the Amiga version, I prefer the Genesis version for the music alone. Best 16-bit version of the soundtrack, none of the others can compare.

Those are equally enjoyable. Ever hear the PC Engine version of Awesome?

Lemmings95 still works in Windows 11... just like Monster Truck Madness.

The size of the Mega Drive version is hilariously small.

Yeah.

I dunno, maybe I'm just biased because it's the version of the game I had as a kid. I just like it the best compared to all the other 16-bit versions I've listened to.
>>
>>11511047
No, it's Brit "fuck you" difficulty like Battletoads.
>>
>>11511675
The 68k ram is the limiting factor, not the VRAM. The VRAM is used a framebuffer, only what is on screen is in VRAM. Had they added additional cart ram, they could have ported over the full levels.

lol, love u man
