Fuck you Pi(ko)ece of shitNext time, you will show respect for what former industry members do, and not threaten them to get data because "I'm the owner of the IP!!"https gofile (dot ) io/d/BOwO2r
Glover isn't real dude, shut up.
Qrd
Glover is real dude, speak up.
>>11511395I kinda wish this was on NSOAlso the music from this game is really underrated
>>11511395Is this any different to the Codebound release?
>>11511426
>>11511395based
Wasn't this leaked a year ago, what is OP talking about
>>11513376>>11513753This appears to be the original n64 code + assets. The codebound release was just for the ps1 port.
well in that case I suggest posting the source code somewhere else as well, nobody comes to /vr/ anymore I think the new jannie banned half the board
>>11511481NTA But I had an interaction with their Atariage account a while back related to what anon's talking about: So basically Piko Interactive, a company who rereleases old games, has said that they will threaten legal action if people refuse to cooperate with them in acquiring things like prototypes (and I guess source code too) for games they wish to rerelease. Fucking shady Mafia tactics and I hope Piko Interactive goes bankrupt.
>>11511395Fuck, this even has the ROMs and everything. Piko in shambles.
FUCK PIKO
>>11513764So they're threatening hoarders?
>>11514150They are threatening former industry peoples (Developer, etc) who worked on game they now own the IP to force them to cooperate and give them anything they have.
>>11514158Sounds kinda based desu, why wouldn't they be cooperating in the first place?
So how does this affect lebrons legacy?
>>11514197>be dev who worked on some DOS game back in the 80's>haven't been involved in game dev for 30 years>kept a copy of one of the prototypes for the game for nostalgia>it's buried in a box somewhere in the attic>Piko buys up rights to the IP, announces plan to re-release it>contact you>you accidentally mention you have the prototype disk>they demand you turn it over to them>"I dunno where the fuck that thing is, that was 30 years ago">Piko is now threatening to take you to court unless you go dig around your attic and find that old disc and send it to them>you aren't being paid a dime to do this>still expected to spend your time and money into finding this old disc and sending it to PikoI doubt anyone is surprised at this point. Piko has based their entire business model off of rent-seeking, I wouldn't be surprised by any greedy move they make.
>>11514338sounds kinda based desu. They need to do that to the stamper brothers.
>>11514371But why is it based?
>>11514523Because I want to play unreleased games
>>11514530Developer:>"Fuck Piko! I'm leaking the source code to Glover that they released on Steam for the shit they do to former developers!"Piko:>"You think we care? Have fun, in fact, we're even going to release even more code ourselves on that website we kickstarted! With blackjack and hookers!"
>>11514530>It's realI have no idea what kind of play this is but "here's the source code to our current-market commercial game" is a strange one.
>>11514562Best I figure is that they know it's out there, so they're trying to make themselves look better by endorsing it.
>>11514574It's less that they're endorsing the leak and more that they're one-upping it?Their new Bleem site is still not ready and what they're planning to do with it's a bit vague. The leak was hardly going to Streisand effect or anything or be on most people's radars, and most people wouldn't bother with the source code in favour of just finding some other pirate copy or whatever or even just buying the damn game on Steam.
holy kek
>>11514598lmao
>>11514530>bleemthey're trying to capitalize on the brand of a playstation emulator from 25 years ago?
>>11514530>Someone leaked the source code without permission.>Go crazy checking it out!!!
>>11514607that's piko's entire thing, my favorite is still when they got Barkley Shut Up and Jam but couldn't use Charles Barkley, so they just stuck some random shutterstock dude (that they didn't even actually pay for) over his face and called him "Joe Hoops" lmao
>>11514598>steve>woody>tonyI'm guessing that would be Steve Bond, Darren Wood, and Tony Povey. Looking at mobygames, Tony was working on Wargames:Defcon 1 around the same time, then wasn't seen again for 4 years, when he was working for Infogrames. Guess that solo career didn't work out.
>>11514574That's what I am thinking.I am assuming either a PR intern who has no idea what they are saying when they tried to damage control by claiming this.A publicity stunt to try to get people talking about Glover again (Glover already came out on Steam three years ago, to mixed reviews) and visit their new site that literally just has a "coming soon" with a e-mail subscription field.Or they know that 99% of people don't even know how to setup an emulator and ROMs, much less would even know what source code is and sure as fuck would not know how to do anything with it, so they figured there would be almost zero impact on their sales to releasing the code anyway and did it as a "look how cool we are" as well as an attempt at giving the devs who leaked the code the middle finger. Because let's be honest here, what kind of person would be willing to buy a re-release/port of like a 30 year old game on Steam/Switch, a game that you could have emulated for decades, but if the source code gets leaked would even KNOW what that code is, much less how to use it, and decide not to buy the re-release because of that? Pretty much zero. It makes them look like the "cool" publisher while essentially not effecting sales in the slightest... and making it clear to other devs that would attempt this that it's completely worthless to try to pull such a stunt (I fully expect they will still sue the devs who do this behind the scenes if they find out who they are).>>11514607For some reason yes. Piko bought the trademarks adn setup a fucking kickstarter of all things to start a site using said trademarks to just be a digital distribution marketplace for games. Because, you know, we don't have enough of those already to the point where some of them from major publishers closed down because the market was oversaturated with them.
>>11514636Should add, I also assume the total lack of interest had something to do with their "we don't care" response. /vr/ wasn't even the only board on this site this was posted on... the other threads died with ZERO replies. My guess is they saw how little impact it was making even here and figured there would be zero impact outside of here so they tried to pull a "Oh, we totally don't care, look how cool we are".That is, assuming it's not them doing this as a publicity stunt since I doubt Glover is getting much sales on Steam anymore considering it was released in 2022 to mixed reviews and is just a port of a N64 title from 30 years ago. It is suspicious that this thread was about to die too then suddenly saw activity.

So their editor tool is called hannibal? No source for that?
>>11514642I mean very few people care about Glover, I remember my local game store had sealed copies of it on N64 for $10 up until the early 2010s. Source code being released is cool but whoever owns the IP seems insufferable
seems the sound effects in the steam archive were just extracted from an n64 rom lmao

>>11514530Damn, Piko Interactive executives(?) know /vr/. I hope the bastards not only endorse it, but also decide to make it available under a free license. On the other hand, it's likely that this is astroturfing, because how often do corpos acknowledge specific source code leaks.
anybody know if piko's going to continue dropping slop collections on evercade?
>>11514197Why would they?
>>11515178kek
So will good fan ports of this game now come out? Wanna play this
>>11515773>fan portsThere are no Glover fans.
>>11511395Op delivers, but I'm not sure what it's pertaining to. Anyways I'm dling
>>11514623This is the funniest fucking thing I've read in awhile.
>>11515774Fuck you I was playing glover 1 on PS1 last night and I'm about to continue playing it. It's pretty fun, lots of different control mechanics to get used to, but it's probably the closest to sm64 in terms of different maneuvers for 3d platforming. Though, it lacks the fluidity of motion sm64 does. Very simple, platform based celectathon that's just fun to fuck around in. Not the greatest game but wayyy better than a lot of 3d platformers. But it play the PS1 version.
