it was fun, but I never felt like it was better than Mario kart. No drift mechanic and turning was kinda cumbersome. GOD tier shortcuts though

I suspect the reason I like LEGO Racers more than Mario Kart is because I had the former as a kid and only ever played the latter at friend's houses. I like Mario Kart fine now, but if I just want a quick couple races I'm more likely to fire up LEGO Racers instead. The grappling hook powerup is more satisfying than firing a blue shell.

I lived next door to a girl who had it and would play it all the time though. I did own Lego Racers since the beginning.Mario Kart then became a kind of nostalgic gold standard and in high school we would drink and smoke and play Mario Kart 64.So if you asked me as a kid which I liked more, I’d say Lego Racers, but Mario Kart 64 ended up having more permanence with me.Lego Racers is still the better game single player though. Unlocking the different parts and building your own car has a good sense of progression.
