I somehow ended up with Gothic 1/2/3 on steam from some shitty keysite.

is it worth playing or is it generic western RPG slop?
>>
idk. Never played.
>>
>>11512909
1 ended up being a lot of aimless wandering around for me, which neither gameplay nor story compensated for, so I ended up dropping it. 2 is supposed to be the best one but I never tried it
>>
>>11512909
Play 2, skip the rest.
>>
It's great, one of the best RPGs you'll ever play, but the problem is that it's Eurojank. But it's one of the good ones
>>
>>11512915
You know how much I fight the urge to post this exact response in almost every thread?
>>
>>11512909
It's slop. You're forced to do things in the exact order to progress and survive combat. The devs hated freedom. Controls are absolutely horrendous. A PC has 100 buttons and a mouse and yet it controls like a PS1 game. Or worse, a C64 game. You cant pick up item by pointing your mouse and pressing action button, in fact you might as well not use a mouse at all while playing this game. Combat is even more horrendous. Just some putrid mess that don't even belong in 1995, let alone 2002.

Overall, i's a very archaic game made by joyless germ men that makes Alone in the Dark feel next gen except for the graphics.

bad b8

>>11512909
Definitely not generic
>>
>>11512909
I've played the first game and it is very fun and comfy. Many zoomers get filtered by the control scheme, but when you get used to it I enjoy it quite a bit. Haven't gotten around to the second game.
>>
I liked the first game a lot but the second got too autistic for me with the alchemy and hoarding materials for portions for minmaxed leveling
>>
>>11513296
He is not wrong, progression is completely linear
>>
I wish it was generic since that would mean that there are more games like it out there.

There's like a dozen ways to break progression in just chapter 1 alone, did anyone in this thread even play the game?
>>
>>11512909
If you'll play Gothic 1 and like it, you're probably a slav. Or you may irreversibly mutate into one after playing.

1 and 2 are legit both among the best games ever made.
>>
>>11512909
better off replaying morrowind to be desu
>>
Didn't pay much attention back in the day, but played the game again last year and noticed how neatly the whole gamut was chosen. It's just aesthetically pleasing even though one may say it's too gloomy.
>>
>>11513294
>>11512909
It was made in Germany. That should tell you everything you need to know
>>
All three are good despite the basically non-existent story in 3.
>>

Can confirm turned into Slav, ordered Adidas and perfecting the squat. Enjoyed first two, and Riven aside from that strange pirate mess then of course found absolute jank like Mount and Blade, Frankos Revenge, 1st witcher.. And moar.

are you fucking retarded?
>>
>I have game, but is it good or bad
Would it kill you to play at least half an hour or an hour and find out whether you like it? You have to ask /vr/ first to figure out if you should like a game you have in your library?
There really is no hope for you.

>a dozen ways
Morrowind offers a million ways to beat the main quest instantly.
>>
>>11513802
ok based,

slavs have pretty good taste from my experience
>>
>>11515197
Better than jap grinding simulators
>>
>>11515459

Gothic 1 is jank but it's the kind of jank that will annoy you for the first hour of the game and then you get used to it, the game and by proxy all gothic like games are front loaded with content first chapter is usually the best part..
If you clear chapter 1 and you still don't like the game just give up, the game's not for you.
>>
>>11512909
Gothic 1 and 2 are very dry but they have a nice slow "social" progression, gaining trust and clout within your camp. As you gain favor, exp, equipment the game will slowly open up as you find ways to take down monster groups that previously filtered you. Very satisfying games.
Gothic 1 is nice a compact. Probably a 20-30 hour experience. Never played 2 vanilla. Gothic 2 Night of the Raven is a huge ordeal to play but it's probably peak Gothic if you have the patience. Took me probably 100 hours but I was very drunk on red wine every night those days. Bad breakup
