I used to sort of obsess over this game as a teen but coming back to it I didn't like it at all, the entire game feels like "learn by dying" sort of thing and the final boss is just awfulI genuinely had more fun with Shinobi X, even if they copied the pixel perfect jumps at the pier (but with no jump power up to help) and had the balls to do it twice in a row

The only bad thing about it is you need the jump power to beat certain stages.

At one point I learned this game so good I could 1cc with 50 shuriken and good ending.But I did farm lives on the plane level just in case.

Like, give me the ability to absorb one more hit, make the jumps one pixel shorter, made the ceiling drop a little slower in the final boss fight. Shave 10% off the difficulty and it's great. But it is what it is and what it is is unreasonable. I savescummed the ever-loving fuck out of it just so I could play it through and move on. I didn't beat the game. I admit it. I don't want to try. It's possible but not worth the time sink. They don't want you to git gud, they want perfection. Aint got time for that shitIII gets a little cheesy by the end but it's much more enjoyable overall
The first and second GG Shinobi games are extremely good.
