Did you play the DKC trilogy as they came out in real time back in the 90s?
>>
I've never even seen an SNES irl except that one time at a flea market
>>
>>11514719
I sometimes forget /vr/ is mostly 20 year olds.
Why are you on a website like 4chan instead of tiktok, instagram or some other SNS with more gen Z-friendly layout and connectivity?
>>
>>11514717
Definitely the 90's, but not the exact years they came out
>>
>>11514742
I was born in 88, the SNES was never hot in my country unlike other consoles.
You know how people call it "the RPG machine"? Well, those didn't release for us. It was just "the machine" I guess.

Your life experience does not equal everybody else's, although this is an increasing issue since "youtube historians" like to pretend that the US' video game market = the world
>>
>>11514789
This. Nobody knew Nintendo outside of USA in the 80s and 90s
>>
I was a poorfag so I played everything 1-2 years late. DKC and Killer Instinct blew my fucking mind on the SNES though.
>>
>>11514717
Yes I did.
DK1 was visually stunning but too hard, I thought.
DK2 was the most atmospheric platformer I'd ever played and I loved it
DK3 pissed me off and I hated it.

I really don't like playing as the large characters like DK or the retarded monkey on DK3
>>
>>11514717
Yes. Is that all you wanted to know?
>>
>>11514742
>no one can go back and play retro games
>wait why is nobody talking about retro games anymore? must be the youtubers, or maybe the resellers or actually
>>
>>11514717
I did and it was amazing
>>
>>11514789
>>11514795
>Your life experience does not equal everybody else's
On the other hand you need to remember that your life experience is not worth the same as those in America. You are a guest on this website and need to remember that just because you grew up in a mud hut doesnt mean that your opinions are even 10% as valid as someone from a first world country.
>>
Yeah, I remember getting DKC3 for Christmas.
>>
>>11514795
>This. Nobody knew Nintendo outside of USA in the 80s and 90s
This is true. It wasn't until 2017 that the Japanese were exposed to Nintendo for the first time.
Always trust what you read on the internet, kids.
>>
>>11514717
Yes, and I thought DKC2 sucked.
>>
>>11514928
bait used to be believable
>>
>>11515047
he isn't wrong, thoughever
>>
>>11514940
Same, did you play it right away? Do you like the game?
>>
>>11515023
Why 2 specifically?
I was blown completely away by DKC2, probably the strongest sequel ever, somehow.
But over the years I find myself going back to the basics of DKC1, still love the whole trilogy, though 3 feels more like a sorta "lost levels" deal to me.
>>
>>11514928
based
>>
Playing Donkey Kong Country 3 as an adult was a lot more satisfying and easier. I was just too impatient as a kid.
>>
>>11514819
Same, had all 3 on snes at our house and it was always a favorite to start up. We liked all of them but I was the same with 2 being my favorite.

Pretty much all my friends played or owned the games too.
>>
>>11514717
Yes to 1 and 2, no to 3. When 3 came out I was already on the N64 train. I did pick up 3 for cheap sometime in early 2000 and played it then. Never got past this one boss in the forest, but I beat 1 and 2 pretty close to 100% for both. Needed a guide for 100%, especially in 2.
>>
>>11514717
Grandma got me each one every Christmas.
>>
>>11515364
Based Granny Kong
>>
>>11514717
only one and two. by three I think I was playing PC games like full throttle and ultima
>>
>>11514717
Yes.
Also, the N64 didn't come out in Australia until 1997, so I had DKC3 before the N64.
>>
>>11515364
>Grandma got me each one every Christmas.
This, except I later figured out it was my dad pretending gramma sent them, what a good dude.
I'd get so excited, they were the best. I didn't care that 3 was slightly uglier I was so happy to get more DKC.

I'm sorry but that post is awesome, and you are a worm for trying to lessen it.
>>
>>11515493
>>11514928
>>11514795
The funny thing is that I'm sure I've beaten more SNES games than you have
>>
>>11514928
Outed for being a fag and responds back like a fag.
>>
>>11514717
I was late to getting them despite being in the age set of a 93 baby. By the time I played DKC1 for the first time when I was like 10, I already did 2 and 3. Made it feel fucking weird.
>>
>>11514717

Loved 1 and 2, never played 3 because I heard it was shit and years later I looked up gameplay and heard the music and it's a hard no for me.
>>
>>11514717

I played the first one when it was new and liked it a lot. I got my name in Nintendo Power for it once, I think? I didn't play the other two back then.

I played the second one for the first time as an adult, maybe a decade ago. I thought it was great. The only collectathon gameplay I've ever really loved, in any game.

I haven't gotten around to playing the third, but I eventually will.
>>
>>11514717
Shortly afterwards, yes.

They're all great games though DKC1 is hard to go back to after 2 and 3's gameplay improvements.
>>
>>11515963
You mean Dixie's hover? Because otherwise controls are still mostly the same.
>>
Pretty sure I got both DKC1 and 2 the same month they released.
3 I got it some months later, for christmas.
I loved all of them, though 3 is a bit weird and I never got to see the full ending in either 2 or 3 as a kid, only when I played as an adult.
>>
>>11514742
This board is just absolute shit at this point give up cabbage was right
>>
>>11516198
Cabbage gramps was a faggot but yeah this board used to be a lot better
>>
>>11514717
i adored the first game but i never played the sequels. i wasnt even aware they were such popular games until years later. i guess i was just too focused on newer consoles. anytime i had a birthday or whatever, i probably asked for n64 or ps1 games
>>
i played each one as a kid in the 90s
then the N64 came out but i got a playstation instead
in fifth grade or so i got the chance to play DK64 at a friends house and wondered how the fuck the DKC devs thought that was a worthy sequel
so i went back to being content with crash bandicoot
>>
>>11517554
Because you played for 10 mins of your friend's file. DK64 is a great 3D platformer that was lauded at release by both critics and players.
>>
>>11517558
the dkc series had amazing 3d looking graphics, amazing music, and fast gameplay with very satisfying platforming
dk64 had literally none of that. yeah the graphics were actual 3D, but the models were clunky and textures low res. the music sucked ass, and the platforming was slow and plodding
>>
>>11517558
>lauded at release by both critics and players.
And those were either paid shills or loyal Nintendo fans who did it for free.
>>
Yeah.
I remember back at the end of 95 when my friend lent me a magazine that revealed how to open the Lost World in DKC2. My mind was completely blown by that - one of my fondest gaming memories.
>>
>>11514717
dkc raw pixels is what finally got me to take the shaderpill. amazing difference what an a RGB filter and scanlines make for these games, without it they look like garbage and with them they are ludokino.

now I cant go back to raw pixel for anything. cant believe I did that shit for so long
>>
>>11517558
Man, I remember even back here in Brazil, DK64 was universally panned because people were tired of collectathons and DK64 was like Banjo but 5x worse.
>>
>>11517648
False. DK64 was acclaimed by a local magazine here in my country that was notorious for being anti-nintendo. Still liked DK64 and gave it 1999 GOTY.
Nice paranoia, though.

>NOOOO NOBODY ACTUALLY LIKED THE GAME, INCLUDING YOU!!!

the eternal copium state of segashills and snoys never fails to amuse me.
