Which game do people play online these days? I want to git gud, but don't know which game to start with.
>>11516075Don't bother. The ranked culture of online games has poisoned every multiplayer genre.Without rank, people will play online matches put try their best, improve, play again tomorrow. Before a meta was formed, a sequel was released and people jump to that. This encourages fundamentals. Now with the introduction of rank, people grind these games. It's a job that autist use to escape the real life pain. You don't play fighting games to get good or have fun. You choose a fighting game that carries legacy skills, i.e, people won't try a new fighting game. Tekken will stick with Tekken, meanwhile Street Fighters players will stick with street fighter.Even on fightcade, you'll be lucky to find an unranked match. As long as the concept of rank exists, sbmm will exists, and multiplayer will remain dogshit.
>>11516075The non-retro one.
>>11516083What if he wants to play ranked?
>>11516112> What if he wants to play ranked?I am going to explain him, why he should never play ranked in any game.> SBMM (50% Winrate, reward schedule)> Ranked (Rewards themselves)> Progression System (Sunk Cost Fallacy, fake currency equivalent of time spent, designed to sink your time, without you even realizing)Combining all this creates a perfect Skinner Box. In slot machines you can blame the luck. But these games "feel" like they are not luck based, meanwhile the things I mentioned above make sure that you'll never realize that you are winning/losing as intended. Not because you are getting good.In a random matchmaking, you'll play with players near you everyday. You are still playing the same game, but you won't be hooked. If you are losing too much, you'll quit and maybe come back after a few days, and see if the mechanics clicks with you. And after sometime you'll move on to something else or a sequel if the company is dedicated. Here comes ranked mode. The algorithm is efficiently designed to let you win just enough to not quit, but not too much that you quit the game if you lose. There are statistical algorithms at place, the average outcome of your next 100 matches is already pre-determined by the matchmaking system. Never play ranked in any game.
People only play Samsho 5, 2 and the non-retro 2018. If you're a tryharder set up a discord server to play the other games
