YOU GET:>RGB monitors and SCART cables for all your gaming systemsYOU LOSE:>playing games at the proper speeds and resolutionWhat was it like, yuros?
You don't obsess overs such things as a child.
>>11516576>What was it like, yuros? We didn't care because we weren't yet terminally online. Some of us noticed only after we got access to emulators. Hobbyists already modded their consoles to accept NTSC games (usual for those who imported games because lots of releases didn't come here).
I played on computers like most yuros where PAL/NTSC was mostly irrelevant
>>11516576>playing games at the proper speeds and resolutionI heard rumors of games that struggled to hit 60fps while the pal version was a solid 50, which should be a superior experience. perhaps a more knowledgeable anon will chime in with info>>11516584>>11516586>>11516592but this was mostly true to me
It was a known thing, magazines mentionned it, imports were a thing, more importantly computer and handheld games (including ports, so you could play the same game both on console and PC and notice the difference) were not affected; also games developped by PAL devs (at least most of them, Rare still made some games that ran slower in 50hz because NTSC was their target audiance) and *some* games were properly optimized; but nobody made a big deal out of it until the Dreamcast came out and Sega enforced 50-60hz options for all the games released on it; thus reviewers started shitting on PS2 games that were 50hz only (FFX and Onimusha are the most known case of that even though technically those aren't any more bad than every other no effort 50hz version that came before)>>11516630>I heard rumors of games that struggled to hit 60fps while the pal version was a solid 50, which should be a superior experience. That's a cope. "Slow all the time" will never be better than "slow sometimes".
>>11516576SCART? More like SCAT
>>11516592this, I'll never understand why Americans are such console humpers
>>11516685*PPPSHHFFFRAAARRRRTTRTRTRTRTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!Oh ohhhhhh I did a stinky poopy haha :)
>>11516576>YOU LOSE:>>playing games at the proper speeds and resolutionLots of games were optimised for PAL. More than you'd think in fact. I was looking through a list of Saturn titles a while back and pretty much all of Sega's stuff was PAL-optimised. It was also pretty much a non-issue from the Dreamcast onwards, as they supported PAL60 out of the box to provide the best of both worlds. There were still some bad ports from shitty companies like Square, but I played Final Fantasies VII through X back in the day and enjoyed them just fine. They FINALLY provided an optimised PAL port for XII.Plus importing and pirating games was a thing even back in the 90s. I was far from a rich kid and I had a chipped PS1 plus a bunch of American games. Then in the Dreamcast era it was blown wide open and you could just burn games without even needing to mod it. A friend of mine also had a conversion cart for his SNES way back in the early 90s to play American games, though I think they still ran slow on a PAL machine without a mod chip.
>>11516818depends more on platform though
>>11516576>SHART cablesand why would i want those?
>>11516576>What was it like, yuros?I didn't give a shit as a kid playing on my Pegasus famiclone to be honest. But after discovering emulation and playing games in NTSC I couldn't go back to PAL. After getting into retrogaming properly with real hardware all of my consoles are NTSC, hooked up to a multi-system TV via SCART cables, ironically, save for the Famicom.
>>11516576burgers didn't have scart?
>>11516576can't lose what you never even knew existed
Developer intention.
>>11517609They have Stock Car Auto Racing teams
>>11517636More like Ass Car because it SUCKS SHIT!!!!
Wouldn't Europe have still had 60Hz arcades, you would think that would at least make 50Hz arcade ports noticeably shit, not that arcade ports were amazing most of the time before the Dreamcast anyways.
>>11516576We got movies without telecine bullshit (they played 1% faster instead) and we had color TVs which actually had good color and did not require color tilt adjustment. And like 90% of TV sets could play back NTSC just fine once you modded your console. Dreamcast even had 60Hz options for games from the start.
>>11517826>Europe>Arcadeslol, you probably think we had rentals too(I mean both were a thing but not nearly as developped as in the US, iirc in my country for rentals shops had to wait a couple years before being allowed to rent video games same as movies, which honestly is how it should have been in the US)
