Which classic belt scroller IP suffered worse mismanagement?
>>

They're both great games
>>
>>11518345
I know.
>>
Complete tossup.
They're basically identical trajectories.

Good first game.
Two mediocre/okay sequels.
Laughably dogshit 6th/7th gen nostalgiabait shovelware.

I guess Final Fight has some of its characters memorialized in decent fighting games, if you're looking for a tie-breaker.
>>
>>11518338
Golden Ass IMO. Final Fight seems to still get a slight amount of love, at least.

Both series have been very poorly managed, but my vote goes to Final Fight.
Golden Axe 2 was actually very good, it's main problem being the lack of ambition. It's basically GA1 with improved controls and slightly smarter enemies.
GA The Revenge was great and is widely regarded as such.
GA Warrior might be a clone of the first Zelda, but it's also regarded as well-done, polished game.
In the case of Final Fight... does anyone care about any game aside from the first one?
>>
>let's pretend nobody likes FF 2 and 3
Ok?

>>11518338
Double Dragon

>Golden Axe 2 was actually very good, it's main problem being the lack of ambition. It's basically GA1 with improved controls and slightly smarter enemies.
Absolutely agreed. The magic casting system was also redone and is 100x better. Graphically it looks just about the same. More of a Golden Axe 1.5 than a proper sequel.
>>
>>11518707
You know what I don't get, is why Golden Axe 3 gets so much hate. The graphics are a nice step up from the first, the combat feels more refined and less frustrating (although one could also argue it feels less like Golden Axe than ever) and the character roster isn't bad. But I see people trashing it and saying its unplayable trash and that its graphics are worse than GA2, like wut.

This so fucking much

I don't know how it was in other countries but over here Double Dragon was huge, everyone knew it, every kid who had an NES had at least one of the 3 games from the trilogy. When the movie came out I got it on VHS and watched it a lot. I knew it sucked compared to TMNT but fuck it, it was Double motherfucking Dragon
>>
>>11518723
Yep
>>
>>11518713
Nobody does like ff2 or 3 except faggot snes owners that refuse to admit those games were garbage. Literally as bad as brawl brothers
>>
>>11518731
>Graphically it looks just about the same. More of a Golden Axe 1.5 than a proper sequel.
That's mostly due to cart size, it has the same 4 megabits as the original Genesis port of Golden Axe. By comparison Strrets of Rage went from 4 megabits to 16 for the sequel, 4 times the space for new graphics. It really is a shame they didn't give Golden Axe 2 at least 12 megabits and a bit more time to cook.

It's funny that in such short post you outed yourself as a console warrior, that being the reason why you hate the games.
FF 2 and 3 are well liked games, SNES or not, much to your console warring dismay.
>>
>>11518806
Anon I had a snes and a genesis. I had ff2 and it was absolute shit. It looked ugly, it ran slow, it was censored, it felt cheap because it was a cheap budget console release with the bare minimum effort put in.

FF3 improved alot on ff2 but it was still garbage. The only thing it had going for it was all the hidden multiple routes you could take. However that becomes rather tiring after about 15 minutes because all the enemies are terrible.

Dont even get me started on the shit ports of ff1 on the snes
>>
>>11518338
Final Fight on SNES was flawed from the get go with poor port, no co-op and a missing stage. Golden Axe isn't as graphically advanced as Final Fight but the port is much more faithful and even adds content.
In terms of sequels Golden Axe's are graphically unimpressive but a small step up in terms of gameplay. Final Fight 2 is meh but looks good and 3 is great but has slowdown, especially in 2 player, though there is a patch to eliminate it.
Honestly, both could have been handled better. Golden Axe started fine but needed bigger cartridges and more time. Final Fight started bad but gradually improved.

You aren't really being as convincing as you think.
Repeating hollow terms like "ugly" or "cheap" won't make people change their opinion on games that have been always considered good
>>
>>11518338
Dragon Quest and Phantasy Star
>>
>>11518865
I wish RPG franchises got beat em up spinoffs. Imagine a Dragon Quest similar to Knights of the Round.

Plus the king of dragons
>>
>>11518856
Considered good by Snes owners because of the lack of choice they have doesn't change the fact these 2 games were ugly, censored, lacking and not very good. The games couldn't even run properly in 2 player mode and suffered from slow down.

You'll defend final fight 1 next and claim guy being missing wasnt a big deal
>>
>>11518883
Again you're console warring abd using hollow terms.
Not convincing.

Which Finaru Fighto is best for someone who's never played them? Is FF CD good?
>>
>>11518906
CD has hitbox issues.
Play the original arcade one.
>>
>>11518910
Roger, thank you anon. I'm glad I asked, cuz I was gonna dive straight into CD.
>>
>>11518910
So does the arcade version.
CD is the best port your going to find and the only one which isn't censored. However the arcade port is and always will be the original
>>
>>11518929
>arcade port
>port
And no, CD really has a lot of sketchy hitboxes, different from original arcade.
>>
>>11518931
Like I said anon - closest you'll get to the arcade version. CD isn't perfect but it's better than the other releases.
You can now finally play it via the crapcom beat'em up bundle but I'd recommend mame instead unless you want enigma shit on your system
>>
Capcom basically abandoned Final Fight the moment that Street Fighter II became the new hotness. Sure, they were still releasing the token arcade ports of the first game, and the SNES did get a few direct sequels. There was also that Final Fight 3D fighter for the Saturn that was released in Japan only and required the 4MB RAM cartridge. Most of the Street Fighter cast was absorbed into the Alpha/ Zero series.
