Hey, any of the devs here? listen, your emulator doesnt work with anything outside a gamecube controller, for a moment i tought that it didnt worked with Wii's with Motion Plus, how could you release a build that does not work with at the very least the classic controller?

sup fags, any update on /v/orld 3 v1.1? Last I checked it's still not out, but if there's a baseROM or mwl's incorporating new edits past v1.09, I'd be interested.

I think it would've been finished long ago if OP hadn't have given the baserom for them to hoard. It's an disappointing turn of events for some closure that people were excited for two years ago.

yea, pretty much. I hunted down those fags and found their discord, and while it seems they've been useful to an extent, they're obviously not prioritizing this. Maybe it'll fall upon me to finish this, with the help of this gen of course. At the very least I'll be adding my edits (especially the hidden midpoint at wiiide bridge and time=420 for green palace, both important changes I sent too late to OP), and maybe overworld stuff and de-censoring too. I don't have asm skillz, but maybe anons + AI can fill in.
Back during development, I got cucked out of changing the baserom and could only make mwl's, because I was on an old comp, and only discovered later that there's a known glitch in Lunar Magic, where using an older version to edit stuff from a newer version causes it to break. Now that I know that, I'm better equipped for this.

Is that what causes the game to become broken if you edit certain levels?
>>
>>11661876
ROM size has more to do with the amount of detail you can fit in levels than the number. For example SMW has 72 levels in 4 megabits because it reuses the same handful of assets over and over. This game has a lot more variation between levels so there's just ten of them.
>>
they had to do some twisted stuff with 65xx coding to get games to fit in tight ROM spaces. sometimes the result was slower but it used less space than the faster way of doing something.

There's two different issues: one is that CowAnon apparently put some tangled asm in there that's easy to trip over, the other is that editing with older LM causes massive sprite despawns etc. The former is an issue sometimes (enough for anons to complain), the latter is always an issue, even with the most minor edit. But with current LM it should be fine.

This is the main thing I suspect. There were zero problems editing the previous two /v/orld hacks, but with /v/3 and a hack he himself attempted to organize a few years ago, shit would break.

it was rare to see a NES game with 64k PRG while Gameboy titles with 64k ROM were common
>>
>>11663538
no point in it when you could just use UNROM
>>
>>11663538
ROM sizes were more-or-less ad-hoc and it's difficult to do a 1v1 comparison because the NES had CHR ROM while the Gameboy did not. For example Paperboy NES was CNROM (so 32k PRG+32k CHR) and the Gameboy version just copied it directly and has 64k ROM and likely uncompressed graphics. But then Dr. Mario is CNROM on NES and 32k on Gameboy so probably the latter has the graphics stored in a compressed format. Castelian is 32k on Gameboy but the NES port is UNROM, they had to do it that way because the game required rewritable background tiles. Plus Gameboy used a Z80 derivative CPU so the code will be smaller than 6502 code.

A few days after the shutdown, the site only accepted news submissions about hacks that were uploaded into other sites (like ROMhack Plaza, MediaFire, Github, etc).

Some time later, they started creating databse entries for all hack-related news submissions. However, you still had to upload your hack in other sites. The site's "submit files" page was also updated to reflect this.

Around February 2025, however, the site started accepting hacks that:
* Didn't have a news submission
* Were hosted on the site's database (even through the "submit files" page tells users to host their hacks somewhere else)
And on top of that, they also allowed users to add reviews again.

It's also worth mentioning that neither Nightcrawler nor RHDN's staff (I think there's only one mod now) have made any announcement about these changes. Even the site's users are confused as well.

I bought a Transcend 4 GB micro SD to use with my Datel SD Media Launcher but it doesn't even recognize it. It's obviously in FAT16, I even limited the volume size to under 2 GB so I could make the allocation unit size 32K for another attempt at compatibility. It just boots into the action replay every time no matter what I put on the card. Pic rel, what I have on it currently. I'm starting to suspect that the actual, physical SD to Memory Card adapter is DoA.
>>
>>11669417
Formatting an SD card to a smaller size won't change the SD card standard being used (SD, SDHC, SDXC, etc.). Different types of SD cards use different (incompatible) protocols. If it's not compatible with that specific type, then it won't work.

While Swiss is another matter (and the 4 GB Transcend SDHC is listed as supported), the SD Media Launcher website and manual simply states that all SD card formats work as long as they are under 4 GB.
>>
>>11669829
>the SD Media Launcher website and manual simply states that all SD card formats work as long as they are under 4 GB.
Most (all?) SD cards under 4 GB use the original SD standard, which is limited to 2 GB. It probably doesn't support anything else.
>>
>>11670052
SD cards are limited to 2 GB, SDHC cards are 2-32 GB. Since the website claims 4 GB micro SD card support that implies SDHC support; you won't find a SD-non HC above 2 GB.

I accidentally my (third-party) PS1 memory card trying to copy a seemingly corrupted file to it and now it won't even show up on neither my PS1 or PS2. It's also not showing up in uLaunchELF (or showing as empty with no free space) and Memory Card Annihilator doesn't detect it either. Anything else I can try to make it functional again or am I SOL? I assume it has to be wiped somehow which isn't an issue, I had those saves backed up anyway.

I wonder if there were any games for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, or Super Nintendo that let you use both a standard controller and a Mouse?
>>
>>11676843
Yeah seta-gx is forked from the old Wii port of yabause and this developer has so far only touched the VDP emulation. This means the CPU compiler here is 17 years old, but that's going to change after the developer finishes the VDP code (apparently VDP1 emulation is nearly complete).

Full-speed Saturn emulation on the Wii is absolutely possible and I think we will see it by the end of the year. The 32x also has a dual SH-2 setup and that is already emulated full-speed on Wii. Seta-gx has huge performance gains over yabause Wii thanks to the GPU rendering alone, so I see the only real remaining bottleneck as the SH-2 compiler.

fwiw I tried Street Fighter Alpha 2, Radiant Silvergun, and Sonic Jan. Street Fighter's graphics seem to be perfect though the game runs at half speed. Radiant Silvergun's graphics are perfect aside from VDP-2 planes, though again the game run at half speed. Sonic Jam is completely broken kek, nothing renders properly and it runs horribly.

For the record, as someone who has been following the progression of Wiistation since its started as WiiSXRX 2022, and that was 2 and a half years ago, we come along since the time PS1 emulation was a pipedream, but its still far form being even 88-90% good or optimized, there's still games that only run on full speed but without dithering (silent hill with no dither its a visual sore) and some games behave weirdly since some parts are full speed and others slog down to 40 fps for games that dont look like much hassle, like some pinball game that i tested yesterday, i believe they are starting a new build with Hardware rendering that is much faster but so far looks fucking ugly at 480i locked and extreme bilinear and broken graphics, there's been a few bad builds were SoulFabre fucked up the framerate playback of games with constant frame stutter and shimmer, heck, on currrent SoftGPU build of Wiistation, 2d games run STILL run jittery and stuttery on NEW GFX mode, but with no graphical glitches during video mode switching tough, on OLD GFX mode, they run perfect, tough SOTN still slows down during the dead screen for some reason.

I know it takes time but lets be blunt it also depends on the people behind this not fucking up.
>>
I always wanted a Megaman hack that features all bosses from 1-6 and its only a boss fight like those you do before fighting Wily. Does such a thing exist?

If not, is it possible to make it? Where do I start?
>>
>>11677441
>but its still far form being even 88-90% good or optimized
In my experience it's been pretty much perfect aside from a handful of games that have slowdown with dithering enabled and a handful of games with graphical bugs in the New SoftGPU.

Ok, good to know. I will sell one game, buy the cart and make a profit. If it's good and compatible I'll probably sell them all to finally upgrade my graphics card after 10 years of 980 ti.
I wonder why carts for other systems can be much more expensive.
