I'm going completely blind into Final Fantasy. I want to start with FF VI and would prefer to be able to play on android. Is the Pixel Remaster version pozzed in any way compared to the SNES original?
just play the original and yes you can play that on android, look for a snes emulator. this didn't need a thread unless its bait 1/10 for making me reply
>>11677847Play the GBA version.
It has the same censorship that the GBA version had... toned down the Celes torture scene (she isn't chained up anymore, and the soldier doesn't punch her), the Empire people raise both arms now in the slave crown flashback, certain naked enemy sprites have clothes.I believe the Edger hitting on Relm line has been changed as well. Otherwise it's the same as the GBA script.
>>11677847GBA version bro
I started with FF1 on the NES, thought it was alright. Then I dropped FF2 on the NES like 2 hours in. Now I'm thinking of playing FFVII
>>11677847How do we know her last name is Bradford when she was only a baby when her mother was killed? Her mom didn't tell the Emperor their family name.
>>11677901How do you know her family name is Bradford?
>>11677886Usually zoomers want to hurry up and get to the point. You actually managed to be a retarded and do the opposite the one time where it actually makes sense
>>11677901Why do you assume it's not just a name they made up and assigned to her arbitrarily for imperial bureaucracy reasons?
>>11677913I just like trying out early JRPGs from time to time. I wasn't even trying to get into the series or any of that but now that I've played 1 it made me curious about the most popular one, FFVII
>>11677909>How do you know her family name is Bradford?Nintendo said so.
>>11677873OP is completely blind and you're referring to specific scenes as if OP will know what the hell you're talking about
>>11677847just play ff5
>>11677873Are there any de-censoring mods for FF6PR that fix all these problems?
>>11677847I want to deflower Terra.
>>11677847Yes the Pixel Remaster version is a downgrade in every way except for the resolution of the battle backgrounds and like, a single soundtrack.
>>11677847I love Terra and her seafoam green bush.
>>11677847Pixel Remaster is dogshit. Modding it isn't exactly easy and takes forever, and even then it's still inferior to the SNES version. Zero point. I'd just emulate the SNES version if I were you, but the GBA version with restoration patch isn't bad either, you sacrifice visuals and audio for getting extra gameplay additions, new translation and bug fixes. Or you could patch the SNES version with either Old Revised Standard Edition or Ted Woolsey Uncensored Edition, both of which improve translation, add QoL and bugfixes. You won't get the gameplay additions of the GBA version though. So ya, either original SNES version, SNES with patch or GBA.
Why are anons recommending GBA over SNES?
>>11677873>>11678062Nah this is exactly the kind of info I have been looking for.
>>11679015Much more diverse library on the GBA
What are the differences between SNES and GBA english translations? I care more about good translation than gameplay. I think I'm leaning towards Ted Woolsey Uncensored Edition from what has been said in the thread so far but on the other hand the darker SNES graphics will probably not work so well on handheld android
>>11677863>>11677882dear god, no. play the SNES version with a bugfix patch.
>>11679062GBA version absolutely butchers the music. it's not even the same.
>>11679062Apart from the censorship and accuracy issues, the problem with the original SNES translation is that it's just sloppy and even downright confusing at various points. I replayed the vanilla SNES version semi-recently after not having done so in something like 15 years, and I kept running into dialogue that made little sense with what was happening on screen. This is, of course, because Woolsey was under a huge time constraint, and usually didn't have the game in front of him, so he translated many lines without the necessary visual context. The GBA translation is much, much better in this regard.Of course, the TWUE hack fixes these issues, usually by replacing the weird confusing lines that make no sense with whatever the GBA version said or sometimes from how Legends of Localization's Tomato translated them.
>>11678068There was, but SE keeps patching the game and it breaks all the various mods. I'm sure new ones will pop back up eventually.>>11678236>>11678680Me too
What kind of emulator should I go with on android? I assume I have to put something into FDroid? Last time I emulated something was Pokemon Red/Blue in early 2000s on a pc...
>>11677847The Pixel Demasters are 100% pozzed and ugly as shit to boot. Avoid!
>>11679062>What are the differences between SNES and GBA english translations?Let's just say you'll notice it's a poor translation. I wish I played GBA version first.
>>11678680Soulful picture
>>11679724found the son of a submariner
>>11677847It's a good enough game that you should play the original and then the GBA version later. I haven't tried any of the patches mentioned here >>11678715, but they could be good. I think I'll give them a try sometime.
>>11677886Art on the left look like it's inspired by the Child Empress from The Neverending Story movie.Excellent loli, to be fair.
Play the PS1 version of FF1, it has the nicest looking graphics/art direction
