I simply cant believe this series has 6 gamesIts absolute terrible
>>11683612i played the one with the hot catgirl, it had fun elements but like grindy as shit, near the end youll end up needing to grind hardcore, with really only one annoying to get to location to do it at, i just stopped playing the game at that pointreally a lot of classic jrpgs have shit that just becomes a chore or bore, or shit that just isn't figureable out without a guide
Wait til you learn about Battle Network
>>11683715What do you mean? Battle Network games start out a little rough with 1 but overall it's a very high quality series.>>116836122 and 3 are great.
>>11683654>youll end up needing to grind hardcorePeople have beaten BoF 2 while fleeing from all battles winning the game with a party of level 13 characters.
>>11683721Do those people seem to know the game much better than a first time player?
>>11683612you mean 4
>>11683612> 6 gamesPlease don’t remind me about that mobile slop.
Playing the first one.Its alright. I like that the party is all beast men and that they have overworld skills.Kinda fetch questy and basic otherwise though.
>>11683756The point is that it's not hard, dumbass.
>>11683938i dropped the first one like 30min in, not because the crude graphics, fetchy quests or super boring plot, but the menu system is beyond awful. Never seen such an unintuitive interface. But i can forgive it because it was the first one and Capcom is well know for always going cheap in the first entry of every franchise. Now BoF 2... just finished a few days ago with the translation patch and being generous is mediocre at best. I really hated the lack of interface features like being able to see equip stats while buying equipment, having the constatly swap characters every 2 mins to use skills, or that spells do very little damage. Probably the worst is that the MC learns a spell that deals 999 so the final battle is nothing but him spamming that spell and consuming magic items
>>11683612The first one, yes, is easily one of the worst jrpgs ever made. The second game is a huge improvement and is essentially where the series starts.
>>11683612It's ok.
>>11683791this
>>11683612play 3 and 4. those are the good ones.>>116837152 3 5 and 6 are awesome. kys
I loved 3, 4, and yes even 5.1 was Dragon Quest but we want our version YEARS late.2... Holy shit I hated 2. >That part with Sten solo that if you didn't grind with him beforehand you were just fucked, maybe even effectively softlocked>Crazy high encounter rate>Fusions are absolutely needed, but you can only fuse back at home base. Cutscenes un-fuse characters so for every fucking cutscene after unlocking fusions you need to run back home and re-setup your party.>Character's innate battle abilities/commands are generally useless>There's generally a whole bunch of shit like the old man who teaches you spells in a certain order only if you meet certain conditions that you'll never know about unless you use a guide.I may be a bit biased as I discovered the series with 3, but goddamn everyone telling me 2 was the best only for it to hate me at every turn was damaging.
>>11683612They have some decent graphics and characters designs and fun ideas but as a whole...they're really average. It's like Capcom got into the fantasy RPG thing a generation late.
>>11685027Also>The standard AP restoring item actually damages you as well>Enemies crit all the fucking time>Dragon transformations go from being y'know...transformations to just one shot spells that take ALL your AP >Half the cast sucks. I don't see any reason why you'd use Bow, Sten, Spar or Jean unless you have to.Also even as a kid I thought the Evil Catholic Church plot was a little overdone.
>>11685027pretty much yeah, everything you just said is spot on, 2 has a lot of terrible moments and cryptic shit no one would figure out in his first run.
>>11683612Same OP. I beat BOF1 last year and it was one of the worst jrpg's i've played. I'm playing BOF3 and while it's much better, it's still mid af. Rare Capcom L.
>>11683612People like dragons. I’m people.
BoF III is the only game that has ever merged high fantasy with science fiction perfectly.
>>11685027>That part with Sten solo that if you didn't grind with him beforehand you were just fucked, maybe even effectively softlockedThat part also gives you access to a save point, item stores and a free healing fountain so you could grind Sten for levels, anon.
>>11685050>Half the cast sucks. I don't see any reason why you'd use BowBow is a crazy great healer and buffer character with access to great weapons like a bow that hits twice or a bow that hits all enemies at once. I agree about not wanting to use Jean or Spar though. And Sten is a fairly decent figther but once you get Bow back you have no real reason to not use a pary made out of Ruy and Katt for physical attacks, Bow for healing and support and Bleu for nuking everything that did not die after Ryu and Katt's first turn.
>>11685270all these things are completely useless if you didnt use Sten beforehand, because enemies in that dungeon are like 10 levels over Sten current stats if you never used him, and he has awful speed and low attack, so you will either die everytime at worst, or spend like 5hrs grinding him at best case. And on top of that you cant even leave the city to go get some min equipment.
what the FUCK were they thinking?
>>11685275See, I didn't even know that because by the time he rejoins that party, he's 10+ levels behind and I never thought it was worth catching him up. I got by with Ryu, Katt, Bleu and Nina or Rand depending on my mood.
