I only ever played the multiplayer mode at a friend's house. don't remember much so it must've been bad
>>
>>11684623
Multiplayer was the most fun part of the whole game. I never beat the game because I got exhausted, but my friends and I kept playing the multiplayer for a very long time.

Why did K. Rool even tell this guy to unlock himself if DK had enough bananas? If he just stayed locked forever, DK could never rescue his friends and foil K. Rool's plans.
>>
>>11684887
That's a really good point. Maybe life as a sentient lock is extremely boring? He probably knew DK would find the golden bananas anyway so that was the locks way of freeing himself to go home to his lock family.
>>

B. Locker is a man of his function, and K. Rool could be his owner but he will not cede his function, his purpose. Every lock, has a key. It's the only way.

Gloomy Galleon is the worst level in the game.

DK64 is such a terrible game.

It lacks the identity that DKC, DKCR, and DKC3 built, throwing it all the window to be a shitty knockoff of Banjo. Truly disgusting that Nintendo thought anyone would want that
>>
>>11685018
What would you have done differently to create a version of DK64 that retains that identity?

He's not physically able to stop DK entirely, but he can still convince him to waste a bunch of his time.

I wish there was a mod that made it so every collectible could be picked up by any Kong, so the only Kong-based limitations would be if your Kong is physically incapable of reaching or unlocking the items. I know there's a mod that lets you switch Kongs anywhere, but I've been playing the game again recently and I really think the actual problem is just splitting up the collectibles arbitrarily.

I do like the idea of having to commit to a certain Kong and have them navigate from the swap barrel to the destination, but only for situations where the destination contains items physically unreachable by other Kongs. When you rescue Lanky, for example, a bunch of blue balloons appear behind you and you have to go out and swap and come back just for those balloons in what is otherwise a complete dead-end that you then have to backtrack back out of because there's nothing more to do there. If DK could just collect those balloons on the spot there'd be no issue, forcing you to go through it twice is senseless padding.

Because a shitty lock is weak to dong key.
>>
>>11685026
nta but just use the 3 characters established in DKC and throw in Funky Kong. Make it about platforming instead of collecting.
>>

dixie and tiny literally had the same hair twirl gimmick, i genuinely don't understand what their design process was by making dk and diddy the only 2 og kongs from the dkc series

Easier to animate two pigtails sticking out than one big ponytail spinning, I'd think.

Just give Dixie a different hairstyle, then, if that's all it is.

>5 seconds for DK to pull the lever
>5 seconds for fancy camera work before the game begins
>die before you even get to the Springs portion
>the cycle repeats

Still the easier coin than the Jetpac coin.

The last time I did a playthrough, I somehow managed to clear this on the first try (both rounds). I was so happy the worst part of the game was over.

>>
>>11688289
jetpac coin was easy. i dont understand how people get stuck on it. its first try easy. the donkey kong arcade machine is the real bullshit.
>>
>>11688687
I guess I just had a lot more Donkey Kong practice in my life, so beating that wasn't too bad. Jetpac was a game I'd never even heard of before, so it took A LOT of practice to get the Rare coin from it.
>>
>>11688263
I actually had a far easier time with Jetpac. Even on the cartridge.
>>
Who is worse? The rabbit, or the beetle?
>>
>>11688263
Jetpac was absolute horseshit, worse than that minigame with the exploding minecarts.
>>
>>11685175
People complaining about the kong switch barrels is the dumbest dk64 complaint. The barrels are everywhere and the mod barely changes shit, you still have to do tons of pointless backtracking. Honestly making collectibles character neutral would fix a lot of it.

WELCOME TO BONUS STAGE

>Cranky Kong was originally named Donkey Kong until he got old
So why couldn't Chunky Kong have been a grown up Kiddy Kong? It's established that Kongs change their names in different stages of life.
