I rarely find that fan patches make a game much better in the long run. It's a novelty, but an OK game will still only be OK at the end of the day. BoF1 is OK.

So far and that's what I feel about the game

What's wrong with it?

I always read reviews on romhacking.net before deciding to play with a patch on, and the reviews seemed really positive on how much it improves upon the official English script , and being able to dash is a nice addition

I agree with you. They RARELY make a game better in the long run.
However, my vote is on this patch as being that rare fan commitment that it works.
I have a mixed feel about BoF series as a whole, but BoF 1 is my favorite shortly followed by BoF 2.

BoF1 is a case where this patch actually makes sense.
