/vr/'s thoughts on Robotech Battlecry?
>>
The only good thing to come out of that moneylaundering fanfic
>>
>>11697086
Are you sure you aren't confusing it for Battletech?
>>11697072
Heard of this game but never played nor ever watched the anime. Is the anime any good?
>>
YEAH! JACK THE GIANT KILLER!
>>
>>11697072
>xbox
No one played it
>>
>>11697716
So I investigated this more and it’s also on PS2. Maybe I’ll give it a go.
>>
I beat it on the GameCube. It was acceptably fun.
>>
Shit
>>
It's okay. Nice graphics.
>>
>>11697072
Pretty good for what it was trying to do.

The music in robotech is 9001x better than macross etc.

Even if you’re a bitch boy newfag weeb that prefers macross, you have to admit the robotech soundtrack is a work of art.

Minmae was a noob, best girls were Misa, and Millia. Imo.
>>
>>11697916
I was so pissed when Max and Millia got divorced

I've never watched this series but I've always been curious about it. Anyway, I finally watched a clip and it was a massive space battle with a pop idol singing a syrupy ballad over it with images of her superimposed over the battle and when she'd gesture as part of her performance, ships would unleash a barrage of missiles. This is interspersed with a few scenes of horrific violence...in other words it sounds kino and possibly the most "anime" thing ever.

It's like gundam but instead of mobile suits they're f-14 transformers

SDF Macross (the real version) was one of my favorite memories of watching anime. It was difficult to watch a lot of the time because of jank, but the memories are gold.
Ep 17, Phantasm, is one of my favorite episodes of anything. It's a recap episode, but the mc is drugged into a coma and he dreams of key scenes in the way his mind plays them back - full of paranoid delusions. Much better than simple recapping.

>possibly the most "anime" thing ever
Funny because the show creators were American. They made it for both the Western and Japanese audience.
>>
>>11698236
What?
It's a Japanese show edited and re-written in places by foreigners
>>
>>11698236
>the show creators were American
They took 3 completed Japanese shows and edited / dubbed them.
>>
>>11698278
….and commissioned an original soundtrack from an Italian-American maestro that blows the Japanese soundtrack out of the water with an atomic bomb.
>>
>>11698338
I heard you the first time. Just know that by going with "re-envisioning by people unrelated to the production is better b/c music" means you can't make fun of people for playing mods or remakes of retro games.
>>
>>11698338
>I WANNA TALK ABOUT THE JAPANESE GAME BASED ON A JAPANESE SHOW I PLAYED ON A JAPANESE CONSOLE, RIGHT HERE ON THIS SITE BASED OFF A JAPANESE SITE AND OWNED BY A JAPANESE GUY, BUT STILL ACT LIKE I AM SOMEHOW OWNING JAPANESE PEOPLE WHO HAVE NO IDEA I EXIST!
Mission Complete.
>>
>>11697072
Cool game.
>>
>>11698374
Bro, tell me "Battle Stations" is not the most hype-up track ever. Shit is amazing.
>>
I think it was the first game my big sister ever bought for our Xbox.
I never got past the third level, did I just suck or is there an actual difficultly spike there?
>>
>>11698401
It really isn't. Compare it to the Japanese theme:
Now THAT is a hype-up song.
>>
>>11697910
Compared to every other anime that got that bastardized treatment, Robotech is a work of art.
>>
>>11698528
Is the Macross portion of the original series a pretty straightforward localization? I was under the impression it's only after the show reaches Southern Cross and later Mospeada that they start actively changing stuff from the source material to weld the shows together.
>>
>>11698503
lol no
>>11698528
Agreed
>>
>>11698410
I remember it being pretty hard
Action replay was fun though (rip gameshark)
>>
Rented it once, couldn't beat the second level.
>>
>>11697072
I owned it on Xbox. Pretty fun playthrough. The ending certified kino.
>>
>>11697072
I own this on PS2 but have never played it
>>
>>11697910
kek that music is some amateurish shit
>>
>>11697619
Macross SDF1 is kino. There is no reason to watch robotech anymore.
>>
>>11697072
I got filtered by that Cat's Eye escort mission, but everything up to that was fun.

I liked it a lot when I was a kid but I didn't get to watch it a lot because they usually showed it really early in the morning(like5 or 6 am). It was followed by Thundercats and Voltron which I liked as well.
