Was it kino?
>>11985121yeah it's alright, pretty fun game overall, i liked the little puzzles with the armor knights. terrible map layout though
>>11985121Better than Contrarian of the Moon but worse than Chad of Sorrow
>>11985121The middest Castlekino
>>11985121I like it, personally. Not my favorite Metroidvania but I think I've played it more than AoS. I'd like to get more games about Belmonts who were active between Dracula's resurrections.
>>11985121Not all that good of a game imo but yes it is kino if only for the soundtrack
Definitely a game for fans. I can't imagine one person that would get into the series because of his game specifically.
>>11985121Not really, especially if you're playing in release order and coming directly from Circle of the Moon which isn't floaty and slow as fuck >>11985143>Contariant. no actual argument t. seething over bad luckt. filtered
>>11985932his jump is shit but the horizontal movement might be the best in the series. the two directional dashes were good on their own but sliding is actually a valid offensive option for once so you can just whip whip slide
Harmony of Dissonance sure is a fitting title with how fucking horrendous the sound quality is
castle design was better than CoM but the two castles thing was terriblesubweapon system was more accessible than DSS but not as fun or variedalso the high saturation graphics will bleed your eyes out
>>11986649honestly the castle being split in two was kind of fun, both gameplay and lorewise. i honestly particularly liked the revelation the first time i played, it was honestly really neat to see the map be broken into two maps after the reveal.
>>11985121I thought it was pretty good.>>11985143Stop talking like such a faggot retard.
Why did they call him Juicy Belmont?
Easily the worst Castlevania protagonist design. I have no idea what they were thinking>clearly just Alucard in a red coat>is a Belmont, so there's no reason for him to look pale and vampiricSomeone really was just not doing their job that day.
I think the game was good, but it was rather easy, although I think that is alright.
>>11987117That's kind of been the thing with all of the Igavanias, overall cool games which I enjoy, but not offering as much challenge as they could have. Theoretically that's solved with a Hard Mode, but that's not available in all of them. Symphony has Luck Mode, which is soooort of like a Hard Mode early on, and Circle also has that apparently, but it's mainly just a nerf of player stats.Aria Of Sorrow offers a Hard Mode once you beat the game, and you can use that for a New Game+, or just make a plain new game starting from Hard, something I think generally makes the game more fun.Dawn Of Sorrow also has that (and actually improves some enemy behaviors and abilities), but it doesn't let you make a fresh new game on Hard, the only way to do that is to make a save on Normal and then use a save editor to set the save to Hard. Very regrettable. Also, while I get wanting to patch out the stylus seal QTE from Dawn, at the same time I feel like I kind of regret doing that and also advocating for it, because the later bosses on Hard just aren't anywhere near as tough like when you where you're struggling to try to put them down over and over. The clunky nature of the seals as a mechanic isn't endearing to me, never was, I disliked that when I first saw that in the trailer as a kid, but Death simply isn't this exciting and sweat-inducing bastard to fight when the seal just completes automatically. With the seals, you're going to fuck up the final seal over and over and you're gonna use up healing items, so it's do or die. Without the seal, those bosses are just over with and it feels like I've blueballed myself.I wish there was just some better substitute QTE for that game instead.
>>11987161>I wish there was just some better substitute QTE for that game instead.I guess the Dominus Collection lets you use the mouse or joystick to do it? I haven't tried it though.
>>11987093I think Kojima was looking back to Richter's design in SOTN. Personally I like the contrast between the Belmont who looks like the most like Alucard also being the most hotheaded. Until Trevor in CoD I guess.
Behold my contrarianism Portrait of RuinBloodlinesCircle of the Moon
>>11987617portrait's a really good game that one's not contrarianism
>>11987665They're all really good games. The problem is your average vaniatard thinks trash like Order of Ecclesia or Aria of Sorrow are good.
>>11987680well those games are really good too, bloodlines isn't though and i haven't played circle yet so idk :vthere is some pretty stupid shit that drags the former down though tbf
>>11987691>:v
>>11987437I recall that Dominus lets you use button inputs for seals, but you still have to memorize them as you get no in-game prompts when it's time to draw them.
>>11985121is this the same game that was released with multiplayer on XBL? cuz that shit with a friend or two was fun as hell
>>11987691>Bloodlines isn't a good gameAre you for real?
>>11987842He is for reddit
every castlevania game from that era is effectively the same game (and that's a good thing)
>>11987842i mean it's not terrible compared to some games or anything but so many of the levels and bosses are just boring to play, all the new things it does are pretty good though. wouldn't mind seeing a romhack that changes up the levels, honestly surprising there's not that many castlevania romhacks out there compared to say mega man
>>11985121It's good with a few map and obtuse progression issues. I prefer CotM for the card system, tighter map, and the big sequence break
>>11987604>>11985121why do they look like girls
>>11988106The real question is why do the girls you see look like men
>>11988271Men look like this
>>11987617Small time. Replace Bloodlines with Dracula X for the SNES, and I'm not kidding. Get on my level.
>>11987093>Easily the worst Castlevania protagonist design.
>>11987903Shockingly wrong. CotM, HoD, and AoS all feel completely different to play.
>>11988604>playing as valkyrie feels entirely different than playing as warrior
>>11988593Shit taste alert
>>11988654>retard babbles about nothing /v/
>>11988593You niggers would love this if it weren't a Simon redesign, they should have used this instead of the faggot in OPs game Reminder that HoD is a woman's Castlevania, its piss easy and you decorate a room
>>11988730It’s alright, but it’s odd that the color of his sleeves are the same as his legs. Is he wearing pants/stockings, or are those actually his knees? Then my mind erases the sleeves and it looks like is bare arms are out.
>>11988883He doesn't have sleeves you blind retard. Those are the cuffs of his gloves.
>>11988883Those are his arms yes
Juste's theme is rad
>>11985121That or Castlevania 64 was kino
>>11988593>average dumb smash bros zoomer*best designed in historic time period
>>11985121...yh
>>11985121It was the GoaT, unlike Reddit of the Moon.
>>11985143
>>11989708>baseless accusations The design is featured in a long running (and /vr/etro) fan game. They clearly like it as much as we do.
>>11987617>>11987680Shut your mouth
>>11987867Reddit needs to die already.
>>11991174I agree, but the subject of Reddit and its necessary demise is NOT RETRO.
>>11987665I never did get around to that one, I should do that after I've beat Bloodlines.>>11987903They aren't THAT close in gameplay.>>11988730Castlevania has largely mostly been woman-adjacent, it's got gothic horror themes and vampires, with music composed by women and prettyboy characters designed by a woman.
>>11985121Unironically the best soundtrack in a Castlevania game, harsh chiptune prog rock/jazz fusion, nothing like it
>>11991906I like the revised Castlevania IV tracks
>>11991158Not bad
>>11989603>>11993709https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBG-Ketd91w
I like how harsh the instruments are, it fits with the harsh saturation of the graphics.
>>11985121After Circle of the Moon it was incredible. The speed and maneuverability made it top tier. Plus you could wiggle the whip.Obviously Aria of Sorrow came along and blew it out the water, but it was still great on release.
>>11985143Yep GBA CV games were a straight evolution. Each one built and improved on it's predecessor. As it should be.
Aria of Sorrow is the worst vania I've ever played. I've started it four times and have to drop it because it's so unbearably shit. There is literally nothing good about it.
>>11985143This
>>11985121Now awaiting the release.>>11984391
>>11987802No. You're thinking of Harmony of Despair, which was a fun little multiplayer game.
>>11996491Funneled.
>>11996553>MSU-1Cheating!
>>11985121It was ludo.Castleludo in fact
>>11997546It isn’t.
Never was a vania fan, played a little metroid here and there, just started playing the definitive edition hack of this. I like it so far. Maybe cuz Im new it feels welcoming. Art is pretty, mechanics are pretty straightforward. The map feels a little clunky? Packed together? But its cool.
>>11996553>>11997546Your game is a fake game maker prank, even the guy making the genesis one doesn't know what he wants to do, I played his latest tech demo, and it's so shitty, physics are wrong and BARELY started, and making it a regular linearvania is retarded.
>>11995949Both games were worse than Circle.
>>11985121It's my favorite of the GBA games but I can see why some people don't like it. Same goes for Portrait of Ruin on DS.
Kino is for movies, ludo is for games
>>12002302Is it ludo? And are its cutscenes kino?
>>12002418Sure why not
>>11988593fucking faggot
>>11988593God forbid a man have a leather kink
>>11989603I've always liked it. It feels kinda melancholic but also... celebratory? Like it's heralding a new Belmont who would probably go onto have years and years of adventures.
>>11985121a long time ago I was in Japan, travelling on a bullet train. A random girl started talking to me because she was thrilled to have someone to practice English with. She was really sweet, she even gifted me a postcard from her own travels, asking me to pick which one I liked best. After about 5 minutes of talking, I turned my GBA back on and started playing Harmony of Dissonance.I don't understand why the sound quality is so shit in this game when they figured it out with Aria. Does anyone know?
>>12003113Aria also has dogshit sound quality, only Circle got it right.
>>12002942Which is ironic because Juste ends up becoming the second-most forgotten Belmont after Christopher. Doesn't help that he got sandwiched between the iconic Simon and Richter in the timeline.
>>11985121One of the dullest Castlevania besides Circle of the Moon, but the soundtrack is highly underated.https://youtu.be/SQxs-WEFRJY?si=KRFGzNkrRHD1LiLy
>>11988593You're retarded if you think this looks bad when the entirety of Judgement's designs exist
>>12003397I like death note lite spin off, hope they make sequel
>>11999478>le fakeFuck off retard
>>12003397teenager me hated this design. adult me sees wrestling and i love it now.
>>11988593>people are actually defending this designLook at his retarded gigantic belt with a bunch of useless leather hanging from it. Look at his gay stripper boots. Why is he wearing a choker? Does he even use that sword at any point? How is any of that better than Juste?
>>11988593I think as a general Belmont's design it's fine, but Conan Simon's so popular that this look is always gonna be on the backfoot. If it was the design of a new Belmont, and had more done to distinguish it from being a Simon redesign, maybe it'd be better received. Also it feels like the design looks best in the artwork that has the blood moon in the background. But the game is just an X68K rerelease where his clothes and hair are changed, so you don't get any of that visual in-game.
>>12003845most belmonts have a dagger that they never use either
>>11987617Rate my contrarianism:Circle of the MoonSuper Castlevania IVRondo of BloodOrder of EcclesiaHarmony of dissonanceCastlevania 3Symphony of the NightAria of SorrowLegacy of DarknessLords of Shadow
>>12004289I have played half of those games, and I liked them. Gotta try out the other half though.
>>12004036They do use it; they throw it at enemies. It's in the artwork because it's the first subweapon you get (usually) Then there's Haunted Castle where the final weapon is a sword but we don't talk about that one
>>11985121it was okay, which is about 3x nicer adjective than the adjective you can give to circle of the moon
>>11987093the game probably started as a sequel to SotN. Juste was probably Alucard at some point in development
>>12005479IIRC IGA said the idea was to do a game showing what the Belmonts are up to when they aren't fighting Dracula. Though I'd say the point of this feels sorta defeated by dragging Dracula's body parts and a being imitating him into the story.
>>12004289Put Legacy higher to fully become a KCEK chad.
>>11985121Maybe. I played CotM for the first time a couple of years ago and really liked it, and then proceeded to play HoI (or maybe AoS?) for like three minutes and drop it. I'll be sure to follow through next time.Which will be after this play of Circle. By the way, drops in this are ridiculous. I'm level 19, and have 41% completion, but I only have five cards. In fact, my fifth card just dropped like five minutes ago. Jesus Christ.
>>12007402Boost your luck stat.
>>11985121It's perfectly mediocre and the confirmation that Igarashi only cared about stupid superficial shit when making SotN (mediocre as well).
>>12008083With what? I’ve had nothing drop that raises it.I’ll probably poke around at some guides after this play if I want to go again.
>>11985121Being able to see the game was kino
>>12007402You're not really supposed to farm for stuff in CotM unless you can boost your luck (thief mode is all about that, drops everywhere).
>>12008502>thief modeIs that something you get after beating the game? I don’t recall what all happens after you finish it once.At any rate, I don’t really care since this feels a lot like a Classicvania since you easily get leveled to one shot most normal enemies, but I’d sure like the other card for the ice whip to drop so I can get to some more damn rooms. I’ll really dive into the mechanics after I finish it again this time.
>>12008729You unlock another mode every time you complete a new one. I'll drop you a save if you want.
>>12007402What app is that one, looks neat
>>12008257You can boost it with certain Body and Arm equipment. Equipping two Double Grips helps plenty.>>12008729You can unlock different modes that completely alter the way you approach the game, giving it some nice extra replayability. It's not like Aria where there's thousands of souls that often don't really do anything and lacks of difficulty and replayability. But as the other Anon says, the game is balanced to be beatable without any of the cards and you're not supposed to collect them all in the first place. They're bonuses; you screw around with what you find and then it gives replay value as you learn more of the game on future replays. You can still use anything you want through the DSS "glitch".>I don’t really care since this feels a lot like a Classicvania since you easily get leveled to one shot most normal enemiesBecause the Kobe branch made it and they also did the NES games, but tourists/zealots will pretend that the Tokyo branch were the main devs of the series even though SotN was conceived as a spin-off title.
>>12009059>>12009136Oh, cool. Good to know, thanks.>>12009097https://graphpaper-news.blogspot.com/

>>12009453>>12009442>>12007402Hum, is there any way to properly expand the app view like you did?
>>12009481So this program is definitely a little goofy. It was made by like one Japanese nerd, and some of it isn't intuitive. You'll have to mess with the "map frame size" and "map margin" settings in this menu, which is in Settings -> Map Settings. There's an instruction manual for it in the Help dropdown, too.

>>11985121
This game is boring and broken. There are like three fusions that overshadow every other combination, so there's no reason to use the others.
>>11991174>eposvox Holy shit I used to play Xbox with this guy over a decade ago. I still have him on my friends list
It's fun. But the bosses are even easier than those from SotN.
