Sell me on the Dreamcast, /vr/. I never grew up with one, but I had a Gamecube, and some of my most played games on it were Dreamcast ports including Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, Phantasy Star Online, and Skies of Arcadia: Legends.People seem to love this console, but when I browse its library very little stands out to me. Cannon Spike is a fun exclusive, but other than that, what else is there? If there's not much for exclusives, which multiplats should I try the Dreamcast versions of?I'm willing to take recommendations from any genre, but my preference is generally for shmups, action-puzzlers, and other arcade-style games. I am aware arcade-style games are supposed to be one of the Dreamcast's strengths. I'll be emulating too, since I'm too much of a poorfag to buy a real system.
Just play games instead of shitting up the thread with nonsense.
Bump.>B-but this is a slow board!Don't care. Got Dreamcast recommendations?
>>11989928You don't like the console, don't play it
>>11990273Sonic Adventure 3
>>11990286Thanks for the bump. What Dreamcast games do you like?
>>11989951Tell that to this anon: >>11989951

>>11989951>>11990302Fuck, meant this person: >>11990294>>11990303>>11990304You know what? Fuck this shit I'm out.
>>11990306Depends on what you like, Dreamcast is known for very modern arcade ports. That's what it's for. They attempted more modern style games like Shenmue. These games aged the best.Sonic Adventures are an obvious choice, I like shmups like Mars Matrix and Border Down.
>>11990326I've played modded SADX on PC, but I've never actually played the Dreamcast original so I definitely have to check that out. Gonna look into Mars Matrix and Border Down as well. Shenmue doesn't seem like my type of game, but I might play it to see what the fuss is about.I know the Marvel vs Capcom 2 port is quite popular, but does it do anything other versions don't?
>>11990326Forgot to mention that I have played the Dreamcast version of SA2. Aside from the Chao Garden not having as many features, it's not super different from the Gamecube version in single player, from what I recall.
>>11990345Dreamcast has Ikaruga, that's a pretty renowned shmup. The first part Sega arcade ports are all probably good. You might want to try Soul Calibur if you like fighting games.
>>11990360Ikaruga is decent. Not my favorite bullet hell, but decent. I've downloaded the Dreamcast version before but I don't remember if I've actually played it or not. Soul Calibur is another game I've been meaning to try.

>>11989928L.O.L. Lack of Love, Mars Matrix, D2, Power Stone 1+2, Maken X, Rent a Hero No. 1, Frame Gride, EGG: Elemental Gimmick Gear, Outtrigger, , Cool Cool Toon, Bangai-O, The Typing of the Dead are the only exclusives I can think off that are worth playing. StarLancer and Armada too, but I don't remember if those are actually exclusive.
>>11989928This other thread is still up with a bunch of recommendations:>>11982363
>>11991323Thanks for the recs, anon.>>11991407Gonna have to give that thread a look.
>>11992404>wants to check the thread>didn't check the catalogunlikely
>>11993725I never said I didn't see the thread. I just didn't bother to check it out. Plus, they were asking about all Sega consoles; not just the Dreamcast. Stop jumping to conclusions like a redditor.>So you admit you made this thread even though you already knew that other thread existed?Yes. Because I'm specifically looking for Dreamcast recommendations.
