I have spent $250 on original hardware for the “true experience”. Even bought a soldering kit and learned how to do it to upgrade the screens. I ended up ignoring the GBA because the shoulder buttons don’t register, and I ignore the GBC because the D-pad is sharp and leaves welts in my thumb, and that’s an OG D-pad, too, not some Funnyplaying knockoff. Also, in turning on the games for this picture, I found out the batteries in the flashcarts had run dry and that RTC now longer works on them.Meanwhile, a chinkheld can play those same games with a brighter, bigger screen, no need for AA batteries, and the ability to put the game to sleep at any time.“Original hardware” might be my biggest regret I’ve had in terms of wasted money, and I bought the Datafrog 2000. They’re basically just expensive paperweights I can look at, but never actually play, like Gunpla. What handhelds are good without needing to install a new OS or much tinkering. Thinking of getting my little bro one, he can download a rom cause I've shown him that before but he's a bit of a technologically illiterate zoomer to figure out past that. Don't need anything past 32 bit, he's mostly a metroid/zelda sorta guy

>>12000920>but it is nice giving something unopened you know?I would agree for more high end devices, or for stuff like wearables and whatnot; but for a random emulation device it's justifiable.It would be a much better experience for him to just be able to boot up the device and have everything perfectly setup (custom os, theme, organized roms selection, using a non-shit sd card, screen protector already applied, ...) right off the bat, rather than having to wrap his head for hours on how to use it properly

The analogue pocket is really nice. However does anyone know if it's possible to remap the controls better? For Gameboy for example you cant map all 4 have buttons. It's only making a and b to a single button each.
