I'm looking at gbc screens because I bought a broken gbc with a broken display, and I just found this thing pretty interesting for these reasons:>Perfect recreation of native resolution gameboy color screen with backlightI don't really want one of these things, but fuck I wish that screen could be bought separately for gbc. All of the screen replacements available for gbc seem to suck cock.>Has dedicated library of new homebrew gamesThis is the other interesting thing. Actual new, fully realized homebrew games for gbc. They might actually be good, who knows? Has anyone tried any of that stuff?
>>12054501>fully realized homebrew games for gbcI kid you not, it's all garbage flowing through the GBmaker floodgates. Anything with potential is too short to even be called a demo and anything longer is complete crap.
>>12054501The screen is as good as they say, it's kind of remarkable to see such a nuclear bright low-res display.>>12054529The homebrew stuff is just churned out but that Rayman collection looks cool and Tetris is a good modern port (if you're into that).

>>12054529Damn that's a shame. The games are like 40 bucks so I was hoping it was legit
>>12054529interesting how if a game was made with gbmaker is garbage, but if it's some piece of shit made in the 90s it's a hidden gemthe gbmaker games are fine, not great, but better than most of the garbage that came out during the lifespan of the console.
I'm thinking between two display options:>Big ass hispeedido ips with desaturation feature and lcd grid effect>buy an oem display and put a frontlight on itI'm not really looking for a big screen, but all of the normal sized replacements seem to have problems. And that's the only that lets you desaturate the colors.
>>12054562Any in particular you recommend? I'm seeing praise for tetris and rayman up there
If you want the better screen, get the AMOLED and a trimmed shell for it.
>>12054579>buy an oem display and put a frontlight on itHave you ever used the original display before? A lamp will honestly do the job, dude.
>>12054647It's been a long time. You think I should just stick a wormlight on that bitch? I know they must be pretty bright these days. Then I wouldn't have to stick a glowing rectangle over the display that washes out the screen when it's on
>>12054641It's tempting but the colors look crazy. It's kind of cool actually but it's just not what I'm looking for. If there was an option to tone it down, I'd definitely consider it
>>12054501The Chromatic looks like a good alternative for the future, but it's still easy and relatively cheap to get a used GBC, so until the point where they start failing, I'd just as soon stick with the real thing
>>12054873ive been keeping mine since childhood, and i got it used so some other child amready got a few years out of it, when does it fail?
>>12054848You can change brightness, color mode and add scanlines.Just watch some videos, I'm sure you can tone it down if you think colors are too "vivid".
>>12054501Actually no most of the screens are really excellent. I started with the bivert mod then moved onto the gb boy, they were great for their time. Now I have the funny playing kit which has integer scaling and a grid mode.>>12054556Thats about what you have to charge for decent quality.
