Why was it so spiteful?

Chrono Trigger is literally the Undertale of its age>JRPG with pixel graphics>Combat has both real time and turn-based elements>Can be beaten in a few hours>Babies first RPG, easy enough that any retard can beat it>Attempts to "modernize" the RPG experience with gimmicks like NPCs you can walk away from and bullet hell combat>Left fans hungry for more but was followed up with a confusing sequel that took too long to get made
>>12057004Explain what you mean by this
>>12057020>jrpg with pixel graphicsUh yeah? That's such a bad start to your diatribe I wonder if anyone can read it without laughing
>>12057020People actually like Deltarune
>>12057009faggot
>>12057020CT had good graphics for the time, Undertale did not
>>12057004I loved it, and still do. A couple of months ago I finished what's probably my 20th replay of it. My only complaint with it is the complete lack of Porre. Other than that it's a top-5 JRPG for the PS1 era. And the more I replay it, the more it digs in with the game not being about Serge, but being about Kid's story as told through the perspective of Serge.
>>12057009I wonder why mods won’t prune threads that are low quality.
Late late 90s Square was all about deconstruction, like they reached the peak with FFVII and there was nothing else to do in the genreI'M GONNA DESCONSTROOOOCT
>>12057004One the best sequel of all timeThat's what a sequel is supposed to be ,not this embarrassement of Tear of the kingdom
>>12057136It was a sequel, but it wasn't. On that night during that storm when the computer that regulates FATE came into contact with Serge, the original universe was destroyed and wiped out as FATE reset itself around Serge's existence. The only thing that was left from it was the egg of Lavos/Schala in a hole in between universes. That's why the spirits of Chrono, Lucca, and Marle are pissed off at Serge when they meet him in the dead sea and again when they meet him on the beach
>>12057136>a sequel should shit all over the original Nope
>>12057004Made by the new guy in Trigger who got overshadowed by the established RPG veterans.
>>12057148>a sequel should be a DLC of the original Nope
>>12057154CC is a DLC too, a spiteful and petty one but still a expansion of the previous game's story
>>12057164How is it spiteful and petty? I think the game has all the soul and charm of a true classic that most modern games completely lack.
>>12057165>old game bad old characters are seething midgets play new game!
>>12057168What the fuck are you talking about lmao
>>12057164>CC is a DLC tooNope, that's what Trigger fanboys wish it was
>>12057168I never got that impression at all. Nothing in the game ever shat on or attacked anything in Chrono Trigger. To the contrary it allows gamers who liked CT to have a degree of bitterness towards CC with talking about how all they did to defeat Lavos to protect space/time only for Serge in the future to come along and fuck it all up. And they'd really be pissed if they knew that Serge's travel companion is Lavos's egg in the flesh, which FATE itself did know about.
>>12057151Who? Name?
>>12057147I never played this game, but seriously, what were they thinking? They should just ditch those plot points and just call it a spinoff game.
>>12057217In normal story-telling it's the evil villain that destroys the world and fucks up everything. Not this case. Instead of an evil villain destroying an entire universe, the good guy did. The good guy has to come to terms with that even though he was just an unconscious child when it happened. All he can do from that point on is to try to repair the dimensional rift, and seeing to it that Kid is born is the apparent way to do it. It casts Kid back in time where she has to then wander through time until the present day happens again, and separates the two universes.
Why was it so splendid?
>>12057020>both great games hated only by /v/aggot contrarianshmm, you may be onto something actually
>>12057459i know a guy who always harps on about how it "tried to ruin" CT whenever its brought up but ive never managed to get him to describe "how". why are trigger superfans always like that
>>12057020Jesus christ, this is a reach.
>>12057004imagine working on chrono trigger for 3-4 years. doing 70-80h weeks for years. you put your life blood into the game. once its out nigger gamers demand you do literally the same. ofc they want to try and do something different.
>>12057614>oh you like my game? Fuck you it's time for GAY JESTER/GAY CARTOON OCEAN BECAUSE FUCK YOUI hate developers like this and I'm always happy when they deliberately different slop fails and everyone loves the original more.
