There's nothing wrong with the basic formula, the problem with Pokemon is that it takes entire generations for it to fix its long-standing UI problems such as a lack of things happening in tandem (attack animation and damage feedback overlapping for example) and redundant text that could easily be UI/HUD elements instead. Some of these add in extra seconds and button presses that are completely unnecessary. The only one I can actually stomach is B&W which can still be heavily improved in many ways.

FYI as someone who works in manufacturing, I can tell you that those "seconds" and "button presses" can add up to hours and even days very easily. When manufacturing at scale, companies will spend staggering amounts of money just to save five seconds and it will be worth every fucking penny.

You're annoying faggots caught between gens. Gen2 is the worst of the first three because it's basically just an add on with no identity. It's also fucking depressing, like it feels like a ghost town compared to the lively stand alone worlds of gens one and three, and it has Team Rocket being chumps dying out with nothing taking it's place, like I didn't even play Gen 3 fully till adulthood in my thirties but it's at least mechanically better and not riding Gen1s coattails for cred. Gen2 really only had one thing going for it, Dark Types, and the games don't utilize them well at all. Gen2 sits in this weird depressing ground of saying goodbye to Gen1s borderline dark for kids scifi focus to typical mythological god jrpg stuff, I don't prefer Gen 3 at all to Gen1 but I can respect it's individuality as opposed to Gen2 being in every way an awkward middle ground that pleased nobody other than people who are nostalgic for it as their first game. It was a massive letdown reading fanzines about new Pokemon only to have them all suck or be locked to post game in a game that mostly uses Gen1 mons, like Gen2 is fine but nobody thinks it's the best other than people who started with it, period
