>Retro game series has no reason to return to these daysCan you think of a better example? I have no idea how some of you still unironically play the Ultima series. It has aged incredibly poorly.
>>12135551Unlike Wizardry, yes Ultima aged poorly
>>12135551>esl child humiliates they/them self while desperately attention whoring18+
>>12135587Ultima 1 and 2 are pretty clunky, but interesting. Ultima 3 is just a disaster. The game becomes a nightmare if you level up before making your final assault on Exodus's castle, since the game uses a primitive form of level scaling that throws more powerful enemies at you as your level gets higher. It's actually recommended you stay at level 1 for the majority of the game. If you want stat gains you need to travel through a dark maze where you can only see one square in front of you to find the right shrine to pay gold at, so you need to grind up a shit ton of gold. The grinding wouldn't normally be an issue, except every single fucking battle takes minutes of moving around and attacking enemies and enemies moving around and attacking. There are two different weapon stores in the game, the one in Dawn, and the other stores. So once you have a weapon, that's the best you are going to get until you can afford the better weapon in Dawn. Which means MORE grinding. The game is even more stingy about armor. Once you have whatever armor you can purchase, that is what you'll be using until the end-game when you get access to the Gold Pick and can get the end-game armor for everyone. Oh, and you need to get the Silver Pick to get the only weapon that can damage the last enemies in the game.Unlike the first two games, you don't travel into space or through time, and you never get a vehicle that can fly. The final climatic battles aren't against the big boss you've been hearing about, but invisible moving floors. The final boss is actually a puzzle on knowing which slot you need to put which item into. Afterwards you better know you NEED to rush out of the castle to beat the game, because if you sit around too long you die instantly. Unlike the first two games where you grow more powerful over time, here you remain the same weak 4 characters for 95% of the game while grinding on the same weak enemies. All for a wet fart of a climax.
>>12135738>hey chatgpt
>>12136162Doesn't sounds like chatGPT, sounds like someone who played Ultima 3
>>12135738Retard alert: The level scaling only affects enemies encountered on the overworld map. In dungeons, they are all predetermined. In regards to recommending players "stay at level 1" that's mostly for niche challenge runs. Hundreds of thousands of players played this game fine throughout the 80's.
>>12136243And you have no reason to be going into a dungeon until you are done grinding and ready to start on the main questline. Hundreds of thousands of players also played through the Zork trilogy, but I wouldn't recommend them either.
It just seems Ultima games are less rpgs and more of obtuse adventure games with random encounters as an extra annoyance
>>12136170That was also chatGPT
it's just a dungeon crawler with an overworld mapyou either like dungeon crawlers or you don't because you are a gay retard, simple as
>>12136250>Hundreds of thousands of players also played through the Zork trilogy, but I wouldn't recommend them either.Well that's because you're a retarded nigger faggot.
>>12135551If you don't like retro games you can just stick to /v/ you knowt. had a blast playing through Ultima 1 last year
>>12136531I like retro games but Ultima just sucks
>>12135515here it is
>>12135551Doesn't stop my brother from revisiting the games. He sees a lot of merits in its links to traditional pen and paper RPGs and ideas like the Eight Virtues.I think he was playing Ultima IX recently, PC version with some patching to run on Windows 10?
>>12136170>doesn't sounds like chatGPT,>litterally a chatgpt summary trained on youtube hot takes>copeilot jelly and buttmad
>>12135551Could you;ld not be more wrong or clearly less intrested in the devlopment of software, games, reto, coding or anything except ultra bright colours for people with short attention spans. Mayeb you should stick to modern gaming. I'll bet you only play on emulators as well. What a cuntard.
It's a spam thread, retards
>>12136678Funny how the wizardry thread has more people defending it meanwhile here most people accept its shit
>>12135551Disagree.
>>12136752The Wizardry thread is older so it's also going to have more posts just because of that
>>12136265Combat isn't the most annoying part of any of these games. But he tried to fix "le boring combat" starting with part 6, and in part 7 ("the good one") it's unplayable shit.
>>12136423it's chatGPT all the way down
>>12135551This isn't retro, this is archaeology shit from forgotten times when Man and God walked alongside each other. It's not really fair to put these ancient, animated cave paitings alongside actual retro games. Golem, get ye gone.
>>12135551What game is this? Stick Figure Adventure for the ZX Spectrum?
I'd say MUDs in general. There's still a pretty healthy community around text adventures and IF but I haven't heard of anyone starting a MUD since the 2000s. I think the kind of autists who would be into it are already better-served by other existing hobbies.
>>12136662he looks pretty chill, he's the kind of guy you would drink a beer with.
>>12136752Because Wizardry is actually playable.
