Could you theoretically or figuratively play this game forever given the amount of content it has?
>>12343275Not really, but it sure does take a long time to do everything, probably the longest non-JRPG PS2 game I can think of. It took me almost 80 hours to beat the game with all substories and the completion list done. The worst part was probably the slot machines and shogi, the latter I just cheated with a computer shogi program to calculate my moves. I already learned how to play mahjong (and ended up loving it) in the later games and I didn't want to spend days learning shogi too. Still not even the longest Yakuza game, some of the not retro ones have taken me up to 250 hours, and I haven't even tried to 100% the JRPG ones yet.
>the japanese GTAWhy did retards say that at the time? They're completely different games
>>12343703it's the japanese shenmue
>>12343703I hate that it was called this for years because I never knew anything about Yakuza and being called that never made me want to play it. Then I went into Yakuza Zero completely blind because I got gifted a copy and was surprised by one of the most fun games I had ever played. If it got called "Streets of Rage with a plot and a bigger budget" Id have played the original ones back in the day.
just play the better version
>>12344707>just play the not retro versionNo I don't think I will >>>/v/ >>>/trash/
>>12343703GTA became the fulcrum for 90% of gaming in the west after 2001. Everyone suddenly wondered how can this be compared to GTA?
>>12343703>gta>true crime>mafia>the getaway>yakuzaGee, I wonder.
>>12343703GTA invented crime and cities, before then those things didn't exist.
>>12343329Jesus, I'll just watch a playthrough.
>>12345281The actual story doesn't take as long as going for 100%. Just doing the main story and a handful of substories and minigames is maybe 25 hours. Just rushing through the story you can probably beat it in half that time.
Forever is a long time. Even a game with randomized content you’d eventually experience everything over the course of forever.
>>12343275I'm about to wrap up Yakuza 1 ps2 and having a great time. Does Y2 have a lot of missables?
>>12347441There are some fairly big ones if I recall correctly. I believe there's a time-limited side story that's relevant to the plot of 5.Premium Adventure still doesn't let you carry over anything, and won't until 3.Don't skip Kenzan if you're playing through the series by the way; it's great and arguably more important to the overall story than 2.
>>12343275you can't play any game forever and find perpetual enjoyment out of it. you brain, if it is healthy, will get bored of the charade.
>>12344707You posted the wrong image. I'll fix it for you.
>mini-gamesokay>combatreally good for PS2 times but has been surpassed
>>12349213classic
>>12343703I think they expected the first game to just pass as a failed niche without acknowledging all of its weird quirks (fully voiced cast with a few famous voices, dramatic story that goes places GTA won't, significantly smaller area instead of a whole city, can't steal cars but you can sing karaoke and other stuff). >>12344707>PS4/XB1Time for an upgrade.
