They'd managed to finally crack the Japanese market, but the rest of the world had moved on. Nintendo's latest console had pushed them back in sales in every market, and the constant delays for Sonic X-Treme hadn't helped matters.Sonic the Comic, meanwhile, had settled into a comfortable pattern, doing their best to handle the dearth of new Sonic games with back-up strips that fleshed out their own idiosyncratic take on Mobius.Everything was fine... for now.

On a personal note, I'd like to say how much this issue blew my mind as a kid. Having such seamless continuity was amazing, and unheard of in an anthology comic.
