Do you use it? Do you like it?For me, it's just an extra thing that motivate me a little bit more to play older games
>>>/trash/
>>12437214No, and I don't need extra motivation to play older games. If you do you should probably go back to >>>/v/
>>12437214>motivate me a little bit more to play older gamesThis bum is so fucked up.
>>12437214
>>12437214If you need motivation other than the fun of playing you are wasting your time. Just photoshop something to make it look like you played and save everyone.
>>12437214I think it's cool. Could even encourage different playthroughs for games you already enjoy.
>>12437214Yes I do. Also good job exposing yourself. You don't play video games.Almost a year and a half on the site and just barely 1000 points? How pitiful.
>>12437214No I don't give a shit about achievements, but I'm a zoomber so I was playing games before the Xbox and ps3 achievements brainrot
>>12437214I dislike achievements. I see them as just a form of data-mining, and I would disable them entirely in games that have them if I could.
>>12437245I play other games than on emulators. I beaten a bunch of games so far, but if I play retro games, might as well get the achievements for it, even if I dont care about them to the point of 100% the achievements. For example, I dont care about Rad Racer 2 to get the last achievement.
>>12437259I'm a 89 kid, but I see them as extra "content". For example, I never knew in like 28 years of playing Pokemon Blue that if you beaten Gary twice without getting Pokeballs or a new Pokemon that Oak gave you 5 pokeball. It's pretty neat. Or all the secret events in Secret of Mana. I did go out of my way to get some of those, but it was a cool "challenge mode"
>>12437228Some games are a chore to play really, like Rad Racer 2, I hated that game. But, the fact that every checkpoint gave you an achievement motivated me to clear the game beyond my hate for the game.
I like reading through achievement sets to see how fucking terrible they are
>>12437214Yeah, that's basically my take on it.
>>12437214>Do you use it?Yes>Do you like it?Mostly. Some achievements are too fucking hard or simply rely on extreme amounts of RNG. The fact that most pages are abandoned means if there's an issue, you're fucked.
>>12437214You can complete the Pokemon games + Pokedek subsets pretty quick easy by simply cheating with PKHeX.
>>12437348But cheating remove the whole point of playing.
>>12437351Did you look at the pokedex subset? If you want to grind for 3 days with fast-forward just to get to the first gym, then by all means.
>>12437354But that's the whole point of the achievement page. It's like the subset that make you get the rarest drop from everymob in Secret of Mana.
>>12437361Yes and if I can cheat to get it quicker, then why not? If you can still earn achievements while cheating, it makes sense to do it. If you have no life or extreme collection autism, then by all means do the Shiny subset for Pokemon Yellow. It really is peak autism.
>>12437309>Some games are a chore to play really, like Rad Racer 2,A sane feller'd duck that shit, but a fucked-up bum keeps wasting his time playing something he hates just for some made-up cheevo validation from another bum.The fact you don't see how goddamn twisted that is—and you even defend it—is straight-up insane to me.
I could never get them to work for certain systems, like the Apple II. Also, never play Number Munchers as an adult. Holy shit it makes you feel retarded.
>>12437382I've never tried the Apple II myself, but I've been fine with all the systems I have tried, including stuff like the MSX and PC-8801.
>>12437428I'd load a game, play it, quit, and then when I come back to it, RA won't recognize the game. Game Focus Mode or whatever it's called is also pretty shit since you can't use other keyboard shortcuts.
>>12437369But the whole point of the achievement is to achieve it. If you cheat, you didnt cheat and thus the "points" are meaningless. It's like bragging about being rich after printing money.
>>12437376I didnt do it for the achievement. I did it for the backlog. I have the game, I wanted to finish it.
>>12437448You still have to do the achievements, it just cuts out the grinding. It's entirely Pokemon specific too, so it's not a big deal. I've already rage-quit a bunch of times doing Twisted Metal 2 because two of the achievements rely entirely on god-tier luck/RNG. I keep trying though because I'll feel like a God when I master the game.
>>12437446You might have the wrong version of the game, a lot of games on RA only have one region supported, like NTSC. If you look up the game you're trying to play, then click "Supported Files", you should see if you have the right version.
>>12437461First time I loaded it, it was recognized, and I unlocked some achievements. After that though, RA wouldn't recognize it. So the ROM is obviously good since it worked the first time. No clue why it would randomly stop though. I just erased the achievements and moved on, oh well.
>>12437468I have no clue either, that's never happened to me.
