The form factor of the RG35XXSP with two screens and a better chip, for 2x integer scale NDS emulation.

The second screen goes below, like the NDS, it is a square NDS, screens might be a bit compacter than the OG one, but with higher pixel density for 3x integer ratio.

The lower screen is a bit smaller

Wtf I just beat one of my favorite saturn games on the rg35xx h, I had no idea it could even handle some saturn. While loading some games on the sd card I just threw it in for the hell for it just to see how slow it would run if at all with zero hope of actually playing it but turns out that aside from a few graphical glitches and some muffled sounds effects it was totally playable. Neat

nintendo ds form factor, can play up to ps2, hdmi out, and also it’s 100% linux and if someone even mentions android emulation near it then a small arm with a gun comes out and shoots that person in the head and then sticks the gun in their hand to make itnlook like suicide
oh and it also has no hinge issues and doesn’t cost 3x as much as it would in a non faggotized world

Oh I love my RG280V for most stuff, but PSX starts to get hard to read with small fonts, I am in my 30s.
For GBA, SFC, MD, PCE, PCECD, etc... it is perfect.
Even some arcade games become impossible to read, because of TATE orientation and small fonts.

don't listen to the retarded ACKyn shills who spout lies here constantly, the h700 handles saturn and n64 perfectly, the only "issues" (which are all minor graphical shit, which doesn't affect gameplay aka the only thing that matters in a videogame) are from the emulators themselves, not the chip or the device
dreamcast and naomi does have one issue though, it makes the chip overheat quite badly when you play them upscaled for long periods, which is bad because the chip sits right on top of the battery
>>
Does the OS you use affect game performance? How to figure out which one is best?
>>
>>12462023
Ayaneo pocket play is almost that. But it uses Xperia play style sliders.

>>12462434
The h700 is isn't even much better than the a133p at n64 and Saturn. Perfect my ass. They're both playable but not close to perfect. For a Linux handheld, you could at least shill the smart pro s

>Emulators are typically ported to the platform so they tend to have significantly outdated standalones. Retroarch is what is heavily relied on due to the core system and even that's not always the most up to date.
This is very prevalent with PS2 emulation where it's years out of date at this point.
>As DS and 3DS emulation has shown through the Thor and NG DS you have significant input lag when using Android instead of Linux.
This isn't as big of an issue for other systems. This video was posted here a few years back when this topic came up:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiAJKMkXYC0
This is more of an issue for DS, 3DS, and Wii U emulation currently and maybe Wii? Not sure on Wii.
>Smartphone overhead eating up resources that aren't eaten up in Linux so you generally get worse performance on Android that is being bruteforced by the chips more than anything.
>Getting stuff onto and off of the platform requires extra steps Linux doesn't to the point that you can just go to your "Network" tab on Windows and directly connect to most Linux devices with CFW since it's a built-in feature most of the time.
I know for a fact Knulli does this, I believe Batocera does this, and I want to say Rocknix also does this but I'm not 100% sure on that one. You can also just directly plug into the device on some CFWs and not have to worry like with the TrimUI CFWs.
>Smartphone menus just suck, they really really suck and are constantly nested or not as responsive as you hope they'd be.
>File structure on Android can sometimes be pure cancer and stuff you put onto the device sometimes isn't noticed or ends up being redirected to a completely different folder.
If you watch Wulff Den's reviews of random emulation handhelds this is brought up constantly. I think he had one recently where he said he threw all his roms on the device and none of the emulators would point to where he put them or reset where they were being directed even though he set it up properly.

You cant call an Olympian champion, with the discipline of Sisyphus, one that walks the path of the Hero and becomes enshrined in the Olympic Glory.

She might be below you (I hope you are a Brad Pitt) by looks alone, but 80% of her attraction comes from realisation, from fulfilment, the joy of the struggle, embellished with the beauty of blossoming youth.

She is an absolute 10. Top genetics, but also someone who carries herself with grace and still captures some dork, geeky Élan that comes with her love for Anime and Retro Vidya...

The Retro Handheld is just the cherry on top.
> Performative Retro Love

I mean, she is a performer, and is performing a pose for a photoshoot, it is the definition of performative in that regard. But the choice is hers, her identity is not some plain passé iceskating leotard, but the carefree leisure geekness she forfeited to fulfil her roll of Super Woman.

She is a Hero to me.
I had no idea she is 14, her genetical mother must be a tall athletic Nord, or Slav.

I thought it was due to how tiny the RG280V was, but it happens with it and Miyoo Mini + and RG34XXSP, and the least with RG35XX.

I understand why some Anons swear by horizontals, but the comfort I get from the Fetiche Device in part comes from a specific form-factor head-canon which is vertical.

Note: this also happens to me with mobile phones, I almost never use them, I rather use a laptop with the same apps. But I still rather get the base of my pinky finger numbed every half hour. Dont recall the OG hardware being any more ergonomic. It is its idiosyncrasy.

Nah, that one is shit. Worse button layout than the 35XXH, unnecessary stick LEDs, sticks protruding too much, 4" being barely bigger than 3.5", doesn't fix the stiff buttons, etc.

The 40XX start/select are located underneath the right stick. The MagicX uses the superior 35XX layout with them being next to the main buttons. Start/select being on the bottom was fine on Nintendo handhelds because nothing got in the way. It doesn't work with modern handhelds because there's sticks there.
>>
>>12464028
i mean this device is fine, the start and select being on opisite sides of each other is good, but the circle pads on the magicX devices arej ust so shitty. I hate circle pads with a passion.

I overall love my 35XXH, but I do have several complaints:

>3.5" is too small
>buttons are too stiff
>menu button location sucks
>directional snapping on the sticks
>turning it on takes too long

That's why I'm hoping the MagicX Two Dream will be my savior. MagicX and Anbernic are the only companies bothering with 4:3 handhelds, and the latter is obsessed with stupid gimmicks that ruin the product.

Has anyone gotten DK64 to run on an Android handheld with RetroArch without glitchy animations/camera resetting/crashing?

I tried to edit the core options for MupenPlus GLES2 and GLES3 but I fucked it up somehow because now only ParaLLEI runs without crashing the app and for some reason no core options are available anymore if I try to run the GLES cores without a rom. Even after deleting the app, manually downloading the latest release and updating everything. I am running out of ideas

I despise widescreen gaming. I spent most of my life playing on CRTs and every game I like was built for 4:3. Any old game that says it has 16:9 "support" just stretches everything and it looks awful. Widescreen only became a popular thing during the PS3 era, and I don't really remember that console that that fondly. A smaller, squarer screen lets you naturally focus on all the details in the center without dislocating your eyes from each other like a frog or setting the FOV to QUAKE. It's simply comfy, and at the end of the day you just don't look at anything that is on the outside (plus it is an uneven ratio meaning the top and bottom are cropped). Eyes don't work that way, that shit on the sides is just noise for me. And as for handhelds you get an inherently much more space efficient package, with games that aren't stretched but almost square and well-proportioned, with a tiny bit of extra wide space of course for the HUD. Plus your hands aren't far apart meaning it actually feels comfortable to use and doesn't tire out your arms if you are holding it above you.

Square screens are quite literally perfect and didn't need to be changed. Why do I want extra space on the sides while usually keeping the same measured space from top to bottom? Who asked for this? Movie watchers, but I don't want to watch movies, I want to play video games. Widescreen is literally wasted space. Try phoneposting for me and tell me if you can you read the URL and the keyboard while you look at the post box or is it just blurry noise on the top and bottom? The farther the distance from the center, the less your eyes are capable of actually watching. You can try moving further away, but then that comes at the sacrifice of everything being less in-your-face and immersive in general. I don't like widescreen for gaming, and will never prefer widescreen for gaming, no matter how hard corporations try to standardize it. It is the most heavily overrated thing out there.

>>12461708

It's much simpler than that. Retro games are 4:3, so retro handhelds should be 4:3. Widescreen hacks are hacks and don't work on 2D games. The handhelds already need extra space on the sides for buttons, so wasting even more space on unused widescreen just makes it unwieldy.

This is why I don't understand how people can keep using places like Temu and Aliexpress. 90% of everything there is a scam, a knockoff, or a stupidly obvious AI pic bait and switch. The level of very organized dishonestly is fucking depressing after a while. Like the entire Chinese business model is firmly based on scamming your customer in any way you can even if it was totally unnecessary in the first place. Scam the fuck out of them any damn way even if it takes more money and effort to do it.

>This is why I don't understand how people can keep using places like Temu and Aliexpress.
Because if you know how to use it properly the sites are fine. Things like buttons, pins, thumbstick caps, knockoff plushies, certain knockoff figures, random themed playing card decks where they don't care about using copyright (Like Balatro decks), stuff you would have previously gone to Radio Shack for, really niche things for niche subjects like specific electronic parts, flashcarts, very specific batteries or parts for things, and home grown Chinese items are all reasonable to buy from these stores.

Sure, you're gonna occasionally get some sort of poor quality control; I got a game card case for my Switch that doesn't have the foam inserts properly cut out so like four games fall out when I open it. I've also had my share of issues with both an RG35XX-SP and this current Trimui Brick Hammer (The former had its screw posts disintegrate as soon as I turned two of the screws and the latter has battery issues). But if you're careful with the storefronts you buy from, don't spend more than like $100-200 on any one purchase, avoid name brand items, and know what you're gonna get ripped off with and what you aren't you'll be fine.

There are legitimate sellers there, and if you are able to understand what is and isn't a scam you'll be fine. Hell, I've bought screen protectors from no-name shops that arrived in Styrofoam and it worked perfectly fine. There's like a price level you have to hover around to not get scammed. Too high and you're like 80% going to get scammed. Very low and it's only a scam if it's brand-name or trying to pass itself off as something else. Many of these stores are direct-from-factory sellers.

Just avoid anything that you could use for practicality like spoons, chairs, stuff like that, and you're mostly fine. Never buy anything you could reasonably buy in your home country from these sites, use them for specifics like you would Etsy.

>>12467595

Tempted to go for an RG Arc-S simply to have something to play a lot of games on as a dedicated device, but then I'm also looking into stuff good for PSP and those are pretty steep jumps. Maybe I'm better off just getting a damn phone controller.
>>
>>12468286
normally I wouldn't recommend a phone controller but if you're mainly after PSP why not. Otherwise if you can find the RG505 for cheap that's not bad
>>
>>12468298
At the very least my Moto G Stylus 2023 seems to run PSP pretty fine, so if I really had to it wouldn't be too big a deal. Been using a bluetooth controller and it's some blatant latency. So getting the most out of this stuff is going to require one solution or another for an all-in. I could just refurbish my PSP and hack it for like $60 but last thing I need is to put that much money into something I put right back down.
>>
>>12462179
Nigga, I've played PSX D1 on my 28xx (2.8" screen as well), it's not that hard.
I still quit playing it though since D1's kinda ass, speaking as someone who was alive for and lived through Diablo 1 and 2 back in the day. I was super jealous of my cousin owning Hellfire at the time.
Gotta remember that Diablo 1 and its port was still made in the age of 480p/i so it's not like the game had tiny fonts or any minute details you need to squint at.
>>
>>12462294
Honestly if you're lucky you can get an RP4p/RP5 for $100-120 burgerbux used, and both can play a majority of PS2/GC and get... up to 5 hours.
Even the 406h shows up on Aliexpress for $120-140 new sometimes, and that can play about half of PS2/GC full speed, I put like 50 hours into KH2FM+ on my old 406h and it only had minor slowdowns in the regular performance mode and no slowdowns in the high-spec setting. Worked fine.

The thing is that Temu has pretty generous refund policy and sellers very often just don't give a shit about whereabouts of single items so if you're sneaky faggot you can just buy shit, claim refund and still keep your item.

1 week left til i get my rp5, days are taking forever lately, yet people always saying "the days are going by so fast" bullllshit they are.
>>
>>12468890
On a whim I ordered the rp6 and I'm curious how bad the wait is going to be.
I've seen people report 2 weeks to months.
>>
It’s been almost a year since its release, has anybody had any hinge/buttons issues with RG-34XXSP? Skipped both Miyoo Flip and RG-35XXSP because of those
>>
>>12469192
I bought a 12gb black rp6 on february 19th, and it's currently at the hong kong airport. from what I've seen, it's usually about 9 days to get it after it actually ships. mine took just over a month to actually get moving
>>
>>12469238
Mine's fine, daily use since August. I did tape the buttons though to be on the safe side
>>
>>12469238
Anbernic has the least issues with the hinges but if you're buying a RG34XXSP now you're getting one with less ram thanks to the shortage.
>>
>>12469317
I was hoping to avoid taking it apart, did you tape both the face buttons and the dpad?
>>12469319
I’m okay with that, only want it for GBA/SNES so 1GB should be fine (although I’ve seen some redditors claim theirs came with even less than that, is that just a stock FW bug or actual RAM defects?)

RP5 but without the glas front, 3:2 screen and the spare space is used to rearrange the sticks and buttons to be diagonally opposed.

Any snapdragon 8 gen 2 tablet or handheld or phone since it's the same soc. You can look it up on GSMArena or ask Google.

The portal is probably the best for the money until they discontinue it.

yeah, the buttons were too loud to my taste, so completely optional. It did raise the dpad so that it sometimes marks the screen protector but eh

I got a mangmi air X mainly to play translations of games I never played before or like saturn versions of games I played on ps1. I'm seeing a lot of launchers people recommend, is es-de one people tend to use the most?
also I can't recall but do I need japanese bios files too for the translations or do the emulators only really care that any bios is present? haven't played a japanese translation of a disc based game since tales of phantasia ps1 got released by that cless group

They are the same screens.
The top screen glass came with the new Extremerate shell kit
The digitizer was purchased on Aliexpress; the original was severely damaged by the previous owner.

I'm not sure if it's OEM, it feels like glass but it's definitely plastic, a very good quality one. I've seen a lot of people complaining on Reddit, but it's not that bad.

Playing on my DSi makes me realize there's not much of a point to it. If a DS game was good, it got PC ports. That means the only remaining exclusives are very niche (and shit). It's mostly gimmicky JRPGs.

Guys i really want to buy a handheld, but i cant decide which one. Retroid pocket G2 is the one i want, but too expensive rn.
I managed to gather a few ones:

RG cube XX
RG 40XH
RG 4xxH
RG 406H
RG 505
RG 476H

Between these ones, which is the best overall?
>>
>>12471442
The G2 got hello canceled a week ago, if it's still available to you, just buy it. None of these will measure up.
>>
>>12471451
G2 is too expensive, I want to get one of the RG, but i cant decide which one
>>
>>12471458
The closest thing would be the 476H but the chip will struggle with GC/PS2 which I find unacceptable for its price, you'll be disappointed and buy again.
>>
>>12471461
I dont mind not playing GC/Ps2 games. I want a device that can run till ps1

My caveman brain fucked up. I purchased an evercade EXP-R and didn't realize that this model hasn't been jail broken yet. I figured I could make due by just ripping the evercade roms to an SD card but the damn thing doesn't recognize them. Honestly, I don't even know for sure if the dumped roms are in the correct format or if I'm even more retarded. Picrel is NeoGeo arcade 1.
