Thread to talk about all the retro Resident Evil/Biohazard games.
>thread question
Do you like Resident Evil 3: Nemesis?
Previous thread: >>12503954

All the hype around Requiem piqued my interest in the series where I never had any (watched a friend play RE2 in front of me in the 90s during a sleep over, that's the extent of my knowledge). Started with emulating RE1 and adored it. Just finished RE2 today and adored it a little less but still had a great time. Looking forward to Nemesis but thinking I might want to take a break so I don't just burnout on this gameplay style!

3: Nemesis in easily my favorite. It could be criticized for being more linear than RE1, but I think it makes up for it in every other area. RE3's depiction of Raccoon City is by far the best location in the series.
>>
>>12532841
How about we talk about the autistic RE2 beta community raping eachother for no reason, paying like 10 grand for a copy, then miserably failing at "finishing RE 1.5".
>>
>>12533030
thanks for this anon!
>>
Started RE3 recently, is there a downside for running away from the first nemesis fight? I tried but even he killed me every single time not to mention the limited resources I had at the time.
>>
>>12533662
Yeah, linearity was already firmly entrenched by RE2. RE1 is the only one where you can get any key items in a meaningfully different order, by RE2 it was already key 1 leads to key 2, they just put the 2 doors it would unlock on opposite ends of the police station so it felt "open"
>>
>>12532841
I can't see the point of these games because it's just walking around slowly picking up stuff and running past zombies or jankily shooting them

You have to be slow in the head to enjoy this!
>>
>>12533030
How do i report posts to mods?
>>
>>12534308
Yeah dude it's for retards. It's a retardmaxxing game. That's a good thing.

Why was she wearing a tube top and mini skirt with nο panties during a zombie outbreak?

>>12533706
Sure thing, (you) first.

>>12533753
Only if you don't want the bonus items from knocking him out (and even then, the only item worth getting from fighting him is the handgun parts). It's generally just better to run away from nemesis than fighting him.

>>12534569
to make my pp happy
>>
>>12534586
Once I have more shotgun ammo I might fight him later. Any other tip?

What is there to talk about? The 80% prototype is lost and none of this behaviour is new to this community. Alledgedly, showing off their dick online is what got things to blew up and scared away collector's with more advanced prototypes. Until these faggots learn to keep shit to themselves, any shot at other prototypes is second to none.

I finished Code Veronica. The only good thing about the game are the puzzles (save for the silly crystal ball key card one). Enemy design and placement is seriously infuriating. Bandersnatches are annoying as fuck to fight and are unstunnable until you get your hands on the grenade launcher which involves passing at least 8 or more of those stretch armstrong faggots. The moths in the Antarctic lab are brutal because their back attack command grab has such a fucking ridiculously generous hit box they can catch you easily from three feet away and they respawn indefinitely. And what the fuck was that final boss fight with all the adds she spawns? I ended up just filling my inventory with healing items to just face tank all of it. And that steve boss "fight" which was more or less a health item check.

The game also has a terrible ambush addiction. So many ambushes that leads to a really good chance you'll end up taking damage if you're not equipped with the shotgun/grenade launcher. I want to compare the ambushes in previous games to these ones where the game gives you a couple of seconds to tackle it or even enough time to run through the event entirely, like the first time you get to the rope locked door in 3. Meanwhile you're forced to watch zombies and monsters encircle you in a cut scene. It's terrible. (ironically enough though for the salamander and the spider boss you could just ignore them collect the item they were protecting and leave). This game also suffered from the same problem I had in 3 where the pistol was just took too long to kill even solo zombies, I ended up using the automatic weapons the game throws at you like candy for killing the zombies instead.

One last note, I had to reload a save because it turned out that Chris is dropped right into a boss fight after claire's "boss fight" and I wasn't prepared at all for it. Great design.

I wonder how it ever got an 88 on metacritic. I won't be revisiting it anytime soon if ever.

>I wonder how it ever got an 88 on metacritic.
Magazines and early review sites were every bit as bought and paid for as their modern counterparts.
Look at the ridiculous over the top praise in picrel.
>Best Resident Evil so far
>Code Veronica's plot is excellent
>one of the best looking games out there
>the best of the series thus far
Or the Eurogamer review.

>Your characters are also fabricated with unbelievable and intricate detail, Claire's face is extremely expressive and her head moves around and focuses on certain objects as you move her through the environment. The expressions of horror are clearly visible, the clarity of the visuals really tugs the emotional strings you have for her, the blatant flirtations with another character Steve add a depth and roundness to the character rarely seen in video games. You feel empathy for this character like no other before, which makes the horror of seeing her torn apart by zombies incredibly disturbing.
Every single old review is like this.

Makes sense to me. It was the best in the series when it came out.

You're just bad at games.
>>
>>12536213
Most people recommend X and I think part of it was the difference in enemy placement. I'm not sure but deciding what version of Code Veronica to play after RE3 will be fun...
Speaking about RE3 and versions of different games, I think the steam version of RE3 has a bug at the start of the game because the game skips the cutscene after you rescue Brad for a zombie. I played Chris's route and RE2 on the steam versions but I switched to an Emulator for RE3 just in case this happens again (I'm too lazy to mod the game)

>>12534569
in the novelization its for ease of movement-in the movie its cause of a heat wave

Downfall started with RE6
>>
>>12540601
>RE6
Nope, 5 was pure shit. 4 was the beginning of the end of the old resi but the game was still good. 5 was terrible and it only gets worse from here minus revelations.
>>
>>12532994
How do you guys have time to play through all these RE games
I have maybe an hour-hour and a half every couple of days for vidya, it would take me a month to play RE1 and most of 2
>>
>>12540601
Replace 5 with Outbreak and the meme is perfect.
>>
>>12540660
Most of this board are neets. Playing games and jerking off is all we do.

>>12540721
I thought that was mostly an exaggeration.
I'm taking the opinion of middle aged poor people?
