Thread to talk about all the retro Resident Evil/Biohazard games.thread question: what went so fucking wrong with RE0?previous >>12532841
>damage registers before the biteLong animations to show off how smooth they can make them were a mistake
>>12552865Clanker.
>>12552393The idea was pretty good and the train is one of the most memorable places of the franchise. But it's the peak of the game and goes downhill, story pretty irrelevant, new monsters downhill too and uninspired. Gameplay wise the execution of two characters missed the mark. I'll probably going to replay it soon but don't have a super fun or crazy good memory like I do with 123/4
i played 1-3, and CV, on ps1 for the first time 3 or 4 years ago, and last year i played re0 for the first time.i don't think it's bad by any means, it's hate is really overblown. character dynamic is fun, dual character puzzles are neat, beautiful graphics, cool classic-feeling bosses, tank controls are tight. biggest issue in my eyes is what anon >>12552908 said, which is that the train is the peak location, and funnelling the player back into a mansion/science lab settings is ultimately really boring and trite. the train section should have been longer, and then when it did stop, it should have stopped at a more interesting location, like an abandoned military base or something. also, i don't think they went far enough with the dual character puzzles.
>>125523930 is like a hot dog made from the lips, tongues, and assholes left over after RE1 got all the prime cuts. Practically all the retarded animal enemies and half baked mechanics are junk that was discarded during RE1's development.
>Resident Evil was so big that a piece of news was cover materialCould another game even compete? I'm not even talking franchises here, it was the first game
>>12552393RE0's issue is simple: the train is fucking cool. The "another Spencer mansion"? lame as fuck. The whole "underground" shit? Worse.

>>12552393They had the right idea of trying to make it harder, its just the ways they tried to make it more difficult were not fun at all.
The endgame always felt really abrupt to me. Like there's no buildup and nothing about the treatment plant screams "final area," but then you enter a door and you're suddenly thrown into the Leech Queen fight.
At the hospital in RE3, fuck the clock tower fight (took like 8 tries but still).RE3 is a good game but at, at the moment, is my least favorite of the original trilogy (2 is my favorite)
