What do you guys think of the Digimon RPG games? Both the Digimon Story games as well as the classics like World 3.
They're alright, wouldn't really bother with them as a non-fan of the show though.
They have no real connection to the show outside of monster design. Although as underwhelming as Survive was, it's close to achieving the darker tone that Chiaki J. Konaka brought to the series. IMO he's the reason the show got as popular as it did.
>>3453733>They have no real connection to the show outside of monster design. The different seasons of the show have no real connection to each other either (apart from the different Adventure seasons of course). That's just how Digimon is
>>3453648I liked that survive tried to spice up the lore with the whole kemonogami topic. I'd play another game that explores this a bit more.
>>3453899I think Adventure 02 implied that was a thing.
>>3453648Then often throw the entire kitchen sink to see what works, figuratively speaking, when they should focus on making something consistent. And they often have too much grinding.
>>3453648>should we focus on replicating anime experience in our games which is responsible for franchise's popularity>no keep throwing random shit at wall watching how none of it sticksBandai's quarters should be burnt down. Even card game doesn't care about being Digimon it's just random card game with Digimon skin. Say what you want but Pokemon knows how to create Pokemon experience. Bandai has yet to figure out after 27 years what Digimon experience is even supposed to be.
>>3454070>Say what you want but Pokemon knows how to create Pokemon experienceHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA OH WOWI CAME HERE TO LAUGH AT YOU
>>3454111Either come up with an argument or go back to twitter tranny. You won't farm retweets here.
>>3453648Cyber Sleuth was a padded, shallow attempt at making a Digimon Persona/SMT-lite and frankly, I hated it. Team building was the only thing I enjoyed. Way too much dialogue, characters were either cardboard cutouts or written nonsensically. Not even a single decent waifuIt would be cool to see another game like World 1-3, just a fuckhuge world to explore with a single or small team of Digimon
>>3453733>As underwhelming as Survive wasIt's on sale now. Would it be worth getting it? I know the battles are braindead but how is it as a visual novel?
>>3454070>should we focus on replicating anime experience in our games which is responsible for franchise's popularityNext order does this and it wasn't that big of a success. As normie as it sounds getting an exe for the first time with the anime opening music is such a satisfying experience.
>>3454236>how is it as a visual novel?Because it is a Visual Novel, the ratio of combat to text is 20/80, you mostly only fight story battles and friendship digivolve scenes. Unless you somehow have captured a friendmon you want to level up. It's not a very good visual novel either, I've seen nukiges with better pacing and route splits.
>>3453733Tamers isn't even remotely as popular as Adventure or 02, what are you smoking?
>>3454255>Next order does this and it wasn't that big of a successOnly anime thing about Next Order were ExE's which is the most fun mechanic in all of Digimon games. Rest was just generic Digimon World.
>>3454565>the most fun mechanic in all of Digimon gamesI agree, kinda sad they never implemented something like this on other games>rest was just generic digimon worldWell, world games are a lot more anime than the others, its missing the ability to let players advance stages at will.
>>3454227They did that around the same time as Cyber Sleuth. It even got ported to Switch recently-ish.
>>3454700DW3 has a blast evolution system where your mon evolves to a higher form with it's own health bar mid battle if the ev gauge is filled, it´s even more useful than exe evolution in next order because you can fill the gauge outside of battle with items.
>>3453648Should I give this another shot? I bounced off it the first time because words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words words
>>3455634hmm sounds cool, I guess I should give DW3 a try. Never played it.
>>3455703You can skip most dialogues but yeah its too much, the game would be unplayable without the skip button.
>>3455770Please use a guide, the ps1 digimon world games have some frustating sections that are pointlessly obtuse.
>>3453648I fucking hate Cyber Slueth. That trash was so bland and undigimon.
>>3453648I tried many different digimon games but never could get into them (world 2, the ds ones, the psp one), trying pic related right nowI like how you just start the game and you are already playing it, so much jrpgs nowadays have lots of text at the startI just picked it up because I liked the graphics
>>3456945I forgot to ask, what I'm in for? I judt played the first 10 minutes and all I can say I'm glad it's fucking turn based
>>3453648Never saw the appeal, pokemon had better games
ain't not speed button or skip option. I ain't got time to read them dialogue

>>3453648Hacker's Memory feels a lot better to play than the original, more mon variety and less forced dialogue go a long way. I still like Dawn/Dusk a lot, but both are grind heavy games, especially if you want to get specific Digimon or specific abilities when you fuse them together. Not that you need it for the main game and bonus content. At the very least, with enough patience you can max out stats via diligent grinding. I also wish CS/HM had the positional based combat of the DS titles.
