Well, /vrpg/?

Nothing ever surpassed Morrowind for me. Pillars of Eternity had some interesting ideas with its gods and different religions, plus all the metaphysical soul stuff. Mass Effect had great world building and a good cast of characters that gave you a window into all the different cultures.
>>3469942Fallout
>>3469942Real life. There is this race that has gotten kicked out of all races territory yet by being undesirables doing undesirable work they now rule the world.
>>3469966This but unironically.
FalloutTESmass effectFunny thing is all of them had their lore ruined by modern and later installments in the series.
>>3470061I was not being ironic desu
>>3469966This one is the only answer, thread can end here.
Planscape Torment
>>3469976They're so one-dimensionally evil though, seems like bad writing if you ask me.
>>3469942Might and Magic. I remember that I really enjoyed reading that diary that game generated.
>>3469942King of Dragon Pass and the Six Ages games, if you count them. There are innumerable D&D RPGs, but very few Glorantha ones. The lore, or more properly mythology, is what really sets Glorantha apart. That and the fact that it's wild, non-Tolkien derived stuff.Little details in those games are big stories in the universe.
>>3469966>>3470061>>3470100Fuck off. That shit has t he depth of a puddle just spread across an ocean of crap. There's nothing DEEP about that game's lore and giving every towns person a novel to recite isn't depth either. There's a difference between a complex long history and world and a dense overdrawn franchise that can't even tell a story in one game.
>>3469971This. Morrowind has by far the bets lore out of any RPG.
Planescape: Torment
hmmm think I'll bump it
>>3469942Elder Scrolls minus the actual games
>>3469976No they have gotten where they now are because people are too gullible
>>3469942Ivalice
>>3474934Glorantha is just iron and bronze age stuff mixed creatively. Its extremely cool. A proper game with depth in that setting would be really good. Maybe some mount and blade mods done the line, the warhammer mod has some interesting magic now, you could potentially fly around.
>>3475121The main villain of the 8th and 9th games was referenced way back in the 2nd game. That's a level of foreshadowing I've never seen in a videogame before.
I respect Albedo.
>>3469942In America, I think they call it Black Souls: A Link to the Negro. I'm not sure what it is in the original Vietnamese.
>>3469976>he plays lifeslopNot an rpg
>>3469976>rllow quality writing
>>3469966no. it's just words words words. But all hollow.
>>3469942Unironically Ar Tonelico.I swear, there enough material for at least other 3 Xenogears-sized games.Shame we'll never see even 1/10 of that because of brand ownership hell.
>>3481788>low quality writingComplex systems won’t survive the competency crisis.
>>3482263What's an Ar Tonelico game order in priority of big reveals/mindfuckery?
>>3482368what
