What the fuck, why didn't anyone tell me these were RPG's and not adventure games? Avoided them for years since I looked at screenshots and it looked like Point and Click garbage, and then I recently had a friend recommend it to me and realized I was wrong.
>>3470650Not RPG.
>>3470711get aids and die
>>3470650It's a PnC adventure game with RPG elements, a hybrid if you will. Point and Clicks are fun anyway, Space Quest is an awesome series.
>>3470650They're not. Simply very rare hybrids where both parts play equal roles.
2, 3, and 4 are kino but also try Quest for Glory 4 1/2 >>3470711kys
>>3470820those were the days
hero-u is underrated
>>3471594It's overpriced.
>>3471595https://fineleatherjackets.net/monkeyinflation
>>3470650I always thought these had a great potential for creating a tabletop kind of feel compared to straight crpgs, but the qfg games feel a little too much like straight sierra adventures for itLike having so many comical noncombat instant deaths you're supposed to walk into on purpose and then reload, kills the feel of death being serious even though it's not inherently unfun as vidya
>>3471673The money of today is worth less than half of the money when you were a child. (((Central banking))) is a hell of a thing.
>>3470875how come such hybrids never caught on?
>>3471686because it was just simpler to make a pure adventure game, especially since rpg elements added mainly just grind.
>>3471389What's this from?
>>3473117larry 3
>>3473117If you have to ask, you would fail the copy protection and be unable to play.
>>3473202asking questions that only adults would know was really funny age verification, i don't think it was copy protection
>>3473204You’re correct, I was using the term loosely for all forms of “answer X correctly to launch the game”
>>3470650The question is who did you waifu in 5?
>>3471686It's just a lot more work vs developing a straight up adventure game.
Mage, thief or fighter?
>>3471686Because the basis of them were Point and Click adventure games, which only had a brief mainstream period of popularity from between 1984 to 1997, and by 1994, they were beginning to fall off anyway.
>>3475811Fighter->Paladin
>>3475811Fighter into paladinQfg2 remakeErana
>>3470711Cry to the mods then.
>>3470650because they're not RPGsthey're point and clicks with some very light RPG elements
>>3478901>can choose your character>go on quests>have stats and can upgrade them>basically an open world where you roam around and exploreSounds like an RPG to me.
>>3478934Yes, it's an RPG. One thing you quickly learn in /vrpg/ is that most people here don't actually play RPGs - they play one game that may or may not be an RPG, and declare that nothing else is an RPG.
>>3470650>Quest for Glory 1-5>Conquests of Camelot>Conquests of the Longbow>Heroine's Quest>Hero-U>Quest for InfamyIs this the entire Adventure/RPG hybrid genre? I can't think of anymore titles.
>>3480177Superhero League of Hoboken, it's actually more RPG than most. There's also BloodNet.
>>3480177Mage's InitiationThe Order of the Thorne A Tale of Two KingdomsPlot of the DruidShannara (The game)
>>3480177Modern take on the genre fusion would be The Council and Swansong.
Quest for Glory 4 is one of my all times best games I ever played.I'm a total sucker for slavic lore and monsters.
>>3481237It was funny learning a decade later that Jenifer Hale was there
For some reason I never found a more comfortable vidya Inn than this one, ever, in any game that I played for years and years after.
